Heh. One "Trench" to another, of course I'll play it.
Edit - That was fun. Best game I've played so far. Thanks!

The music is ace. Like, real good. I initially wasn't convinced shooting was worthwhile but as they started charging at me it was a nice change of pace. Good game. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Completely awesome! My only complaint is, when you move too fast, the auto-scroll is too slow and you can't move further than you already are, which make you vulnerable. Also, special mention for the end of the game (no spoil :p )
Phenomenal entry! I liked how you had to be selective with your shots to make it through the levels successfully. The art is great and the game looks awesome generally. Sound and music are good as well.
There's nothing much else to say other than great job! I had a lot of fun playing this!
Awesome game! very fun and fast learning. maybe do screen a little wider its hard to see whats going on sometimes. Also maybe make death animation for enemies faster.
Nice. Music is awesome, Art is great, Level design is solid (^w^).Great Game. Just had trouble differencing the two types of ennemies at first (charging and not charging) but that's on me :p
I love this pixel art! I really liked the gameplay. An endless runner version of this would be really nice
Good Job. I would have preferred, if the screen was a little bigger. Artstyle and sound are on point. I like the concept a lot and the execution was done very well. One point though, for me the best strategy was to just pass the enemies, instead of shooting them.
Thanks for the kind words everyoen! Some great feedback. The game can be fullscreened with F5 or in the options menu if that wasnt clear. 🙂
@westmave I tried to design the levels to force shooting sometimes but yeah you can get past the dudes. With more time I would add an incentive to shoot the guys but you live and learn!
Thanks everyone!
Nice game, artstyle and sound were great! Some balance and tweaking and this could be a very fun game! Well done
Really nice Game and cool bossfight at the end! Keep making games with your engine!
Great game! Really liked the artstyle and audio. Concept really fits the theme nicely! Well done!
Really cool visuals and music, simple but addictive gameplay. Bossfight pretty challenging, failed about 10 times:) Best game i've played so far
Really great work, fellas! Loved the atmosphere of the game. The art and sound design was really nice too!
Excellent game. Played it all the way through and probably would have carried on had there been more levels. Graphically it gives me vibes of Super Meat Boy, which is high praise. Great job.
Great game! The art was brilliant throughout. I loved the background music as it added so much atmosphere to the game as a whole. The game fit the theme very well and was very fun to play. And the trade-offs the player must make between venting their bomb and shooting was very well implemented, especially in the final level. I had a slight problem when running the game Fullscreen. When in Fullscreen and I hit about halfway through the game it started lagging a ton. Playing through in windowed worked perfectly though. A solid entry overall.
Pixels :) , a boss , Nice work !
Cool game. Is your monogame framework available on github or something ?
Thanks again for the lovely comments everyone!
@player-2 This is not something I've noticed but I will investigate! Thanks a lot for the helpful info!
@leandro4002 it is not on github currently, I'm proud of it but also embarressed at the same time haha. I've written it kinda in a void so it works for me but not sure how anyone else would get one with it. It would need some serious tidying up if I was to release it to the public and I would rather just keep plowing ahead making some games! Thanks for your comment.
The music is nice, it make you feel the dangerousity and the tension of the task, i felt invested in the mission. I had fun playing this game. I like the concept, would be nice if you add a roguelike touch if you plan to sell it. Will be on my game wishlist! gg!
Fun game! The art is great and the music is really well fitted to the game too. Great work!
Very polished game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/TOwEHY_25bQ
One of the best entries so far!
Really gloomy looking atmosphere , this game looks RAD!
Very fun game, I loved it! Graphics, music and gameplay perfectly integrated with the theme! I liked a lot having to balance shooting and venting, while also moving inside the maze among enemies. It feels like a little miracle that this game has been done in 72 hours!
Love this! Very polish.
Very fun! I really like your art style and everything seemed to synergize quite well.
What a fun game, really enjoy the mechanic and the end goal. the game was kind of easy without shooting the enemy or with, if you can increase the gas rate it would be a good fast pace challenge or give the guy a health bar to make the game intense or harder. I was really pleased with how the game turns out with playstyle; run, stabilizing bomb and shoot. graphic and colour choice was on point! hope you can make your name for yourself. well played!
The pixel design is pretty good. Well done!
Was a really fun concept. I liked how the charging slowed you down against your impending doom. I found it was much easier to dodge attacks than actually engage in combat, but occasionally it became useful. The boss was a nice touch and it forced me to consider the combat a bit deeper. Really great art direction and music. Overall this was a tight package.
I found it to be really addictive. Nice art style and music. Good works guys
This is such a cool game. I love the setting and the artstyle. The music and soundeffects are fitting. The game plays really nicely and seems well balanced, I never needed more than 3 attempts to clear an area. Really really well done!
Excellent art and execution of the gameplay. My sole complaint is that the basic enemies felt kind of pointless as they don't seem to harm you at all. If you somehow manage to unintentionally run into one, do they hurt you then?
The game had a great theme and the art was nice! Would've liked a more difficult boss fight though.
very detailed game. one of the best games of the jam.
Very cool game. Amazing art and music. The truth is that I did not like it is that the enemies have no threat and you could just walk past them, and so good work
Saw a streamer play it and knew I had to try it myself. Did not get dissapointed. The game is very well polished :)
A really great entry. The visuals are fantastic. I did have an issue where I kept crashing if I was in fullscreen, but I was able to play in windowed mode just fine. My one criticism is that it would have been nice to have some environmental mechanics that affected the game (maybe areas that increased or decreased the pressure rate) to change it up. Overall a really great game.
Thanks again everyone, some great feedback! ♥
On reflection, the gun should do less damage to the player and the enemies should do more damage I think. I might put out a Post Jam "Rebalance" version at some point in the next few weeks so thanks for all the feedback!
@leuthil I'm sorry to hear that! Thanks for the info, I will look into it. And you are correct I think it would have benefited alot from some environmental obstacles. We'd made some sprites for a mine and some barbed wire but I was running out time 😢 The pressure rate idea is a great suggestion, I might put that in the post-jam version too 😁 thanks!
This one is one of the best I've played this jam so far, so take my 5/5  For real, playing it is absolutely nice experience, did 0 shoots before the final boss :smirk: Like the art & music as well, well done, guys, it's rock solid entry
This is for me, the best game I've seen from the jam! It is simply wonderful! A pure masterpiece! (a little downside however to the music that could be improved)
I loved having to balance running away from the gas and releasing gas! The ending was a nice little challenge too. Great game, amazing pixelart!
Oh i love this WWI entourage! Great work!
Music really fits the game! Really interesting way to interpret and implement the jam theme as well. Great Entry!
Good implementation and concept! Not a bad atmosphere, I liked the graphics and music. Keep up the good work! Good job, guys
Really polished game and interesting gameplay mechanic :)
Nice game, I really like the music and mechanics.
I'm a huge fan! Fantastic game mechanic. I like that there is a limitation on how many times you can shoot so you're not just button spamming. Difficulty progression was done well and the boss was a neat finisher. Art style and music were effective at setting the mood. Solid, polished game! Great job!
Nice aesthetic, always a fan of the toxic gas mask theming. I liked the subtle difference in enemies, one charger that's more likely to hit you and then just a wanderer enemy that can be more easily avoided, this way you have to pay attention or you're rewarded for it anyway. I think that the gameplay might lean more heavily into resource management, but the what you're carrying is still unstable to be fair. I also wish the boss' attack was more visually clear, but the fact that the game had a cool boss in the first place overshadows that minor inconvenience. Solid entry.
Super neat game design and great audio & visual, looking forward to having more levels!
Wow this is good! My first action was to just navigate up and down the main menu buttons because the sound effect was so satisfying. That held true for the rest of the game, I knew I didn't have time to kill every enemy, but I fought as many as I could because all the animations and sfx were so juicy, the game feel here is excellent.
And you threw in a boss at the end?! You're getting really high marks from me. Well done, I'll keep my eye out for games from this team in the future.
Beautiful game entry! The SFX, VFX, camera shake, game design, the mechanics.. , it has it all. It also perfectly fits the theme, congrats to you all! I really liked the explanation at the beginning and the boss at the end, wow!
cool polished game but not much fun during the levels. The boss battle was fun but short. I think the screen shake is too much for a single small shot.
An epic ending -- I vanquished the source of the gas, but my last shot left the bomb too unstable for me to survive...
Pretty nice game with a good, clean art style. The lighting was a little TOO dark for my personal taste, I think I like the mood of the darkness, but I wish that the bright areas were a little more visible, simply because it felt like the good clean art was mostly being obscured instead of appreciated properly.
I do think that the two different enemy types would have benefited from being different colors rather than distinguished solely through their faces/heads, I think that would make them easier to read. Right now their silhouette is almost exactly the same, so they read very similarly to each other visually and I don't think the added concentration needed to distinguish them really adds to the gameplay. But that's more of a quality-of-life improvement than anything. I think the boss attack could probably also have used some better visuals, but honestly it's more impressive that you even had a functioning boss fight to begin with, so good job!
The level design maybe isn't perfect with regards to creating a ton of exciting moments (it's good enough) but I really appreciated the approach to splitting up the main path into two branches with differing obstacles to give the layout some basic nonlinearity and allow for player agency.
The art style looks awesome, the music is nice and game mechanics works well. My only complaint will be the damage your opponents do. I found it much easier to run pass them without shooting, since the damage I took from them isn't that bad. Anyway, great job!
Very interesting. For sure an unusual game. It's really fun to play. I died a lot! X.X I like how it's easy to try again, so I was always like "this time I get it".
The tone of the game was really good. Nice art, nice music, nice connection to the theme. The gameplay was really good too! I like that my health bar is also my ammo, makes for interesting tradeoffs/strategy during gameplay. Overall, really nice submission!
Whoa, the game's very polished and I had fun playing - challenging, but not impossibly hard, I even beat the end boss after a few tries. Especially the music stands out, adding a lot to the grim setting and atmosphere. I found it strange that I can't shoot up or down, but that's ok. Very impressive!
Very nice game, very nice art and smooth controlls. I would have loved a bit less noice on the speedy guys. Overall nice full game start to end.
Great game. Love the graphics and how I had to be selective with decisions.
:stars::stars::stars::stars::stars: My new favorite, very well polished game and respect for the framework you did. Grats!
Really great submission. The graphics are nice and charming and the sound effects are effective are drawing the player in while being distinct enough to let them know about different gameplay events. The gameplay is also really great, since the mechanics are simple enough to understand very easily within a minute, but designed in a way where it forces a balancing act. Players can't always vent the bomb pressure, shoot, and move quickly. They have to make distinct choices between the three, and it results in interesting situations where the player is forced to respond to multiple threats at the same time. The game is challenging, and I failed a few times, but I never felt cheated. It always felt like I had set myself up for that failure. Overall, really great entry. Would love to see this game expanded further.
Really solid submission in general, well balanced, I like that enemies have patterns you can abuse and it's nice that it ends on a climax!
The visual aesthetic is great and I love the backing track, it all comes together in a really nice moody action title!
I feel like I'm playing foxhole again.
Trenchrunner is a super polished game, it feels complete and well thought out, I like the players trade off of movement to bring out the theme, and the levels were always exciting with the gas slowly approaching. Not many LD submissions with a boss either. GG
Phenomenal, very polished entry!! The whole style, both graphics and sound, is super awesome! And it plays quite well too! For me it was a bit on the easy side once I noticed it's quite easy to run past enemies. Nevertheless it was a lot of fun and even had a boss fight :scream:
Nice job!
Nice graphics and mood ! I tried a full pacifist when I understood you can skip minions but not possible on the boss, I was so sad at the end ;p
The game looks and feels very polished. Gameplay is also very nice, but I don't know if one should be able to just run past all enemies, or this actually being the better strategy, since shots fill up your gauge which you want to avoid. The charging enemies made this a bit better, as they sometimes force you to shoot them, but often you could avoid those too. Maybe some room segments would have been good, where entrance and exit close up on entering and only open again once you killed all enemies inside. This would add some additonal time preassure as you would have to clear the room fast before the gas can reach you. But appart from this small nitpick, I enjoyed the game a lot. Yery good entry.
Ууу, злобный газ! Газ съест тебя, если ты не убежишь! И даже противогаз не поможет! Беги, noname, беги!

Good idea, and very well executed. Really the art and the artistic style goes very well with the game, I really liked that pixel art! xD Great job!
Awesome title! You had a really solid mix of juice between all the great visuals, sound effects, and music! Y'all had a really fun gameplay here too. Nice job!
