The idea is amazing, but there are some minor problems spoiling every thing. I've seen bullets pass through enemies. I've even seen bullets pass through blocks. And why is the sequence of tetraminoes the same every time? Or at least several first ones.

There are some more bugs. I've managed to rotate a shape and get it stuck inside the was. And if you drop a block on an enemy that's about to hit a tile, the tile moves up and gets overwritten by your block.

Anyway, I liked the game, especially graphics and music. But I didn't find myself playing it for a long time. Maybe because I player enough tetris.

Thanks for the feedback!

The problem with bullets passing through things happens (at least on my computer) with the HTML5 version. It's probably due to the fact that I don't use continuous collisions with them (d'oh!) so a sub-60fps framerate can make the bug more pronounced. Of course this bug should apply to the standalone as well if it runs slowly.

And I definitely feel for you on the shape rotation... The one thing above everything else that I would fix with the game at the moment is the rotation code. It's buggy and unwieldy to use. :)

tried the experimental html5 mode it was experimental.
But I get the concept and I think you should continue working on this idea its a great concept! polish, add gamepad support and put on xbox/steam!

I appreciate having the HTML5 mode, even if it is a bit buggy. The mashup of tetris and space invaders idea is really cool!

Very cool gameplay! I like that you built on the original Tetris game by adding in the extra defense/shooting mechanic. It's surprisingly fun and addictive! The music is excellent too. My final score: 280

Also, just wanted to let you know the HTML5 game did not work for me in Chrome in OSX; it gave me a ton of errors. But it works just fine in Firefox.

It's a beautiful game, but I had a lot of issues running it. My machine isn't very robust though so it may just be that.

used the html5 version to test it. at the exception of some bug seen above i found that to be a really neat concept! i can totally see me playing it on the subway on my phone.

For me the html5 didn't work in Firefox :(

Awesone fusion between Tetris and Space Invaders, cool Graphics, a little buggy with block rotating but nothing worse. Good Job!

hectigo 2015-04-22 19:56

The game has a clever idea, and it's pretty solidly executed overall, other than the slightly wonky rotation. The screen shake also seemed a bit excessive to me, it might be nice to tone it down a bit and maybe add a bit more variability to it. HTML5 version worked okay for me.

Really cool idea, very nicely done. I wish I could think of something this simple whenever I'm brainstorming for game jams!

What a creative take on Tetris! The gameplay twist really changes how you play, and the enemy's attack of replacing a block with one right above it is very thoughtful. I highly recommend anyone who plays this to use the Windows version, as the better performance affects the gameplay. I'd love to see this get polished up post-compo, so the piece movement would be a little smoother. I could play this for a long time! Great work!
