Fun little game.

I wasn't really sure what the "win" condition was, I reached the 20k it said and my score immediately reset to 0.

The windows emulation is pretty nicely done. But was confused to how the mines work. At first thought why are there so many bombs then realized the counter goes up and its a guessing game :3

Nice vibes here! I was a bit confused at first, though, because that’s not how Minesweeper works lol. Same as above, I’m not sure where I’m supposed to go after 20k. But the mood is really good!

@ex3d0 @mugule I simply didn't have time to create a proper ending or post-game gameplay, so I had to use a BSoD instead. I realize now that this might have been confusing for some people.

I didn't realize you had to click on the smiley face to cash in at first. Otherwise a fun little game. Gambling is always fun 😆

A cool little game. Judging by the name, I was expecting an original "minesweeper" game with mine-guessing, but that's not bad either :)

Pretty cool visuals and the idea is solid, although it could use more content and gameplay mechanics. I just spammed a couple of blocks and pressed the smiley face. Could have more risk implemented or a quota system where taking bigger risks means getting higher rewards.

Nice "revisiting" of an old game. I like that you did not just make the game but build a mini-OS interface over it. Nice job

Ayy, congratz on your first LD enrty! To be honest, I was confused too, a simple jingle when 20K was reached would have been enough I think. You already know how to do bleeps-and-bloops, so an extra sound effect could have been doable, right?

I like the game once I understood what to do :-) Having minesweeper with completely different rules threw me a bit off guard, but it did work! A cool feature could have been to add extra mines once the stakes got higher 😆

I know that this is a gambling game, but it did feel a bit off that I did not really have strategic input in the whole ordeal

I'm sure this situation happened at some point :) Very fun game.

As a casual enjoyer of minesweeper i enjoyed this entry, nicely done !!

Lol so I didn't completely read the directions and was trying to play this like regular Minesweeper. My logical brain wants there to be more of a strategy than just flipping over random tiles. Really cool interface, it's very authentic and snappy, and love how you incorporated the theme.

elstep 2026-10-28 16:49 ♥ 0

@ruthiepee There is no strategy, because that is precisely how a true gambling game like Mines works. I had intended to include poker for those who prefer a bit more control, but I didn’t have the time. I plan to develop this into a full-fledged game that will feature poker and other titles. I’m glad you liked the interface! For the full version, I intend to add not only a Windows 95-style aesthetic but also one based on Windows 3.x.

The blips and bloops work quite well, and I appreciate the extra detail of building out a mini Desktop UI!

It was admittedly quite confusing when I surpassed $20k and my balance simply reset to 0 without an acknowledgement. A win screen or something similar would be quite nice to have.

That said, I wish this game had something more to it. Someone else in the comments mentioned increasing the stakes as you got closer to $20k, which I think could be interesting, since it makes you think twice about increasing your bet to try to get to that $20k faster. Or perhaps increase the number of mines the more times you restart to incentivize gambling with lots of money when the player doesn't have a safety net of money to fall back onto.

That all said, thank you for submitting this! The aesthetic is solid, and gambling in a minesweeper style is not something I've run into before but was fun nonetheless!
