LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Downward Frog by GogglesKitty 2021-04-27T04:26:42Z

Very impressive! the art, sound design, level design all work really well together.

The atmosphere going from playful to scary as you go deeper was really nice as well.

Overall, this feels very professional and well made.

Suprisingly fun concept! I had alot of fun trying to figure out the optimal strategy for a level. I could see myself spending alot of time with this game if it had more levels. The ability to undo actions was definitly a worthy implementation and made the game much more approachable.

Also, the sound effects are straight out of a AAA game :)

How Low Can You Go? by DanCan 2021-04-26T22:29:32Z

Really great stuff! I was impressed by how fun the game was to play; the movement was spot-on.

The addition of the game getting darker as you get deeper was a well-needed touch to make the game more interesting and difficult. The leaderboard was a good touch to keep me playing for more than one round as well.

One thing I would add is some sort of feedback to let the player know that they are taking damage. For instance, I couldn't quite tell if the fish were close enough to hit me or not, or if the rocks did any damage at all.

Overall, I think you did a great job making a difficult, but fair challenge.

Dig Straight Down! by Reispfannenfresser 2021-04-26T22:50:22Z

Interesting concept and ideas, I'd definitly like to see this more fleshed-out.

The visuals were really good at conveying the mechanics, such as various uses of the tools and the properties of the tiles, and the music was a nice touch.

I would like to have seen some sort of goal for the game, for example, some amount of money to have to accumulate in a strict time frame.

I'm a big fan of this idea. I would love to see a larger game of it. I was able to get suprisingly immersed in exploring and discovering cool fish.

My biggest complaint is that the movement could get fairly frustrating at times, but I assume that was intentional.

Great work!

They Hear You by SakuH 2021-04-26T23:21:29Z

This was really impressive, great job!

The constant chattering and scraping sound effects and the lighting effects really gave it a creepy and tense vibe. This game also taught me true fear when that bar filled all the way.

After playing a few times, it seemed the best strategy was to run all the time instead of walking or sneaking, as you can easily outrun the moles. (I'm not sure if the rampage bar fills up faster when you run but that might be a good way to balance that out if that isn't already the case)

@binroot I always like easy-to-draw-and-animate things in my games and slime creatures are cute and squishy. Mostly they are easy to draw.
