Nice little game ! Very fun to play
It feels so wrong to have fun while the person is on the verge of death ahah
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → 104 BPM

Nice little game ! Very fun to play

Great game thoo... I fell something is missing :D https://youtu.be/I_izvAbhExY
Very fun to play! The beat lines up very nicely to your inputs.
Minor remark: A bit more feedback, when hitting or missing a note could be nice.
I have the urge to grind the hard level and improve my score now!
great concept!! good job!!
Great concept and it's a fun rhythm game. I really like how there are several difficulty options and how the game is informative while being fun.
The controls are tough but it's an interesting control system and the visual presentation is very neat.
It's technical for me to have those six input in a rythm game but it's fun ! +1 for the different CPR tips on the score screen. Very well polished and neat pixel art/music.
Really good job, the gameplay is fun and it looks and sounds great. The only minor quibble I had is that I think there probably should be a bit more player feedback for missed beats but overall you've done an outstanding job.
Edit: Wow I just realized this was a compo entry not jam, I'm even more impressed now
I never thought I would be playing a ddr type game for this theme. But here I am. That was amazing. I need to get better at typing.
@yvanor I've always found the idea of thinking of songs like "Stayin' Alive" while trying to give CPR a little darkly humorous! Thank you for your review!
@bigtinygames Speaking of Stayin' Alive! That song may be where I got the 104 BPM idea! Thank you for your review!
@noahro The amount of times I had to test this game is the only reason I can play it on normal even... The feedback on the missed beats is something that's been coming up a lot! Completely missed it. Great idea! Thank you!
@nekoruma Thank you for playing! And the kind words!
@kiguel182 Thank you! I was concerned about the impressions of the game at first, so this means a lot!
@solweak I didn't know if anyone would read those! So, thank you; I'm glad you had fun!
@dmtroy The missed beats response was a missed beat itself! Thank you for the suggestion! You are quite right. I'm glad you enjoyed playing it! And for your very kind words!
@jakemchugh1 Awh, shucks. You flatter me! Just between you and me, I can barely hit a thing on hard difficulty. We both need to up our typing!
Nice idea and good job on working on it!
I did feel a bit detached from the CPR (like I didn't feel like I had anything to do with it), as the person kept pushing even if I did nothing, and because there's no feedback for hits or misses.
Very nice concept but I was expecting feedback when I hit the correct keys. It is more satisfying to hit the correct keys if there was feedback.
I really liked it! Very fun entry. Two things that bothered me: 1. Didn't bother me so much - but would be nice to have feedback sounds when a button is pressed. 2. Bothered me a LOT - the fact that the height of the buttons in-game did not match the fingers. for example: J was on top, and D(The button that had the same type of finger - the index) was on the bottom. This made it really difficult for me to play. I think this fix would make the game much more intuitive.
Were you at all inspired by the Persona rhythm games? The HUD reminds me of them. :)

I love this interpretation of the theme and the uh... "educational" quality of this game. I played on Very Easy to figure out the controls and found it too easy, then I played on the hardest difficulty and did really poorly, LOL. I think with some practice I could get better. I love seeing rhythm games on LD! Two pieces of critical feedback: like others have mentioned, the feedback for when you hit or miss a note could be more explicit (audio, screenshake when you miss, a combo counter, etc -- lots of different ways it could be done). And second, the layout of the keys is throwing me off, with ASD going counterclockwise but JKL going clockwise. Maybe it's just me, but it's something to think about. Obviously if this was say, a Bemani title, I'd be asking for remappable controls and more song selections but considering this is a game made by a single person in 48 hours I think you've done an awesome job. :)
Great little game. Simple, intuitive and responsive. Wish there was a bit more feedback on a success/failure (particles etc).
@sorko I meant for the notes to be the result of the compressions and not the result of the inputs. I didn't make that very clear though! Thank you for the feedback!
@marbles Yeah, that seems to be the most common feedback! I will keep it in mind for if I ever polish the game. Thank you!
@hillelgo That's a good point! During the jam, I often don't find the time to have someone outside the jam playtest it during production. I'm going to make note to do that for next time! It could help with issues I don't notice like this. Thank you for pointing it out!
@trampolinetales Perhaps... :wink:
@ruthiepee Yeah! The key mapping issue I didn't even notice beforehand. I plan on incorporating more playtesting in the future to avoid such issues! Thank you for your kind words though!
@sleepystudios Thank you! Perhaps I'll polish it up a bit in the future!
That's the best theme interpretation so far :D
You should have joined the jam just to be able to put Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive as the soundtrack.
Jokes aside, great game, nice pixel art, but you should work more on the feedbacks related to the player input, it's really vital especially for this kind of games!
Nice compo entry, well done!
My gamer senses made it super easy to handle everything ASD related but my brain could not compute the other side. A really cool idea for a rythm game, but I had the feeling the beat did not fully match what I had to do, and I could not tell whether I hit a note or not. With a little fine tuning this could be a really fun little game that I could see working well on mobile for example. Nicely done!

I've read some of the comments and can agree with most of them. More feedback on whether the key was pressed at the same time. Also, note that not all keyboards can (as the matter of fact, the most of the non-mechanic ones) emit 6 characters at the same time. Just the way keyboards are done hardware-wise.
The music is a bit raw (I crave harmony in music, which is a bit lacking in this kind of computer synthesized music), but it's not unexpected for compo as it takes time to create something more advanced.
Skill-curve... hm... the easiest one was too boring, the fastest was too fast for me, so I guess everyone can have the game match their own skill level.
In any case, nice entry and good luck. Keep up the good work.
I like the concept but the game seems to have no fail state. I deliberately pushed all the wrong buttons but still saved the guy. Also it would be cool to increase bpm in sync with his heart rate.
Loved how even getting a score of 10 results in the win - made me feel a lot better after utterly failing my first attempt of the Hard difficulty. I do feel a vertical buttons layout (say, WSX-MKO) would've made it a lot easier for me, but at the same time it was fun to get accustomed with the existing one. I'd definitely play more if more became available later _wink wink_.
@fabrizio-spadaro You know, I actually did consider it! This whole thing was based on that idea alone and I really wanted to just... slip that song in there. Thank you for the kind words!
@andidebob In post-mortem I'm getting a lot about the feedback and those dreaded right side inputs! I realize they really should be flipped. Thank you for your review!

@kaisean-games Yeah, I didn't start on the music until night 2 when I suddenly realized I had no idea how to make music. Should have started with that for a rhythm game huh? Haha! Hindsight is 20/20. Also, I knew that about keyboards and it completely slipped my mind until you mentioned it just now. That is a very good point and something I did not think of. Thank you!
@rrrzzz I meant for this game to be slightly accurate to actual CPR. I toyed with the idea of BPM increasing, but as that kind of goes against CPR I opted to leave it out. However, the fail state idea was something I just skipped over. It makes sense too! Someone's life IS on the line after all! I'm considering tuning this game up a bit. Your comment has definitely helped with that! Thank you!
@dragonayzer One pump is better than none! WSX-MKO? I never thought of having keybindings match the layout in game... That's kind of neat! I like that. Thank you!
