Nice game, BUT!

I've pressed buttons (graphic ones: DUE, DEW, DO) when rule tell me to, and in all cases it counted as fail (X) and "success" sound was played.

Also there's no delay between appearing the rule and its activation, I had no time to read it sometimes.

Agreed with above that there are some timing issues, but I really like this idea. (Saw your post on it and am glad I found it on the list.) This is like a cross between "Please don't touch anything" and "Keep talking and nobody explodes". This would make a hilarious double person game or even single person with some beefed up graphics (maybe weird stuff happening through the "window" in the back to cause distractions). Like a space version of being a tower operator at an airport. XD

I liked this game, like others had said it sort of gives me a "keep talking and nobody explodes" vibe. Only problem is I had some contradictory rules generate (move lever when blue at 100%, push button when blue at 100%) and if I did one it would auto fail the other. Not bad overall and the control board was fun to manipulate :)

This was a clever take on the theme! Game played well, but I think it would have been helpful to have some checks on "impossible" combinations. I.e., my game started with two "when green light flashes", which turns it into a race against time when the green light is on, and absolutely nothing to do otherwise. But that's just a minor point; overall the game was pretty cool!

Really well done. I'm a sucker for buttons and selector panels so i really enjoyed this game. I especially like the graphics who where simple but awesome. Great work!

Every time I did the correctly pressing the 'Do' button or the space bar still gave me failures every time. Cool concept, but I can't even get to a point where the rules are hard to manage because of this bug.

Love the concept. Manic simulators are my favorite genre, if that's even a thing. Anyway I found the game was pretty hard to play because it would give me an "X" for things done correctly along with some other bugs I'm sure you're aware of. The music was well-suited, though, and feeds in to the frenzy of trying to hit the right button in time.

Sometimes the game count an error even if you press a button correctly but overall the game is great and very fun ! Keeping up with so many rules is a great challenge ;)

I loved this game. It was fun to juggle so many rules. The ambient audio helped make it more panic inducing, but it was still rhythmic and appropriate. I didn't encounter any bugs. Great job!

I didn't even know there was an audience for this type of game, but these comments definitely prove otherwise. Anyway I love it! My only tip is maybe pause the game for a second or two once a new rule pops up? Or maybe say what the new rule will be a few seconds before it comes into play.

I really loved the game! I played something similar a few LD's ago! But with decrees and not rules of switches and such. It was sad that it kept saying I was doing the wrong thing when I was doing it correctly, and it was inf act logging those as completed rules too, because I would want to play this for hours, but it would never register my presses of the A key correctly in all three games that I played :( Loved the concept and use of the theme though, I imagine it gets completely manic!!

Nicely done!

Very cool game, I like the random rules (real brain teaser). The old school graphics and sounds were perfect :P I can see the inspiration from "Keep talking and nobody explodes" :)

jezzamon 2017-12-24 06:50

For Compo games you're meant to upload the source files (although it's not a strict rule). But that would help with the "dont have access anymore" thing :P

who 2017-12-24 08:38

@jezzamon Yeah, unfortunately in the source file I didn't include any of the actual Unity files itself. Plus, I didn't foresee my hard-drive failing on me, hah!

I'll just have to stick with this buggy version.

Our team does a weekly indie gamedev podcast called Nice Games Club, and we just did a Let's Play episode where we played thirty-six (!!) Ludum Dare 40 games, including yours (which we thought had an incredibly cool concept)!

Also, heads up, the download link on this page is labeled windows/linux/mac, but it's only a windows build.
