:( 404 not found on your itch.io page!
@zwodahs @ukulelefury Opps. Sorry about that  And it is curious how I got a rating without being able to play the game.
First thought is that the text should be aligned better! Things seems to extend past the edges of the scroll a lot. I like the narration and story though! Creating a text-based adventure game seems somehow both simple and ambitious to me. I like it!
@ukulelefury Thanks for playing! How big was the browser window? I setup the game to be 1024x768 so there shouldn't have been any scrolling.
A very cute little throwback. I had issues with the text breaching the sides of the scroll sprite!
Also had major issues with the text alignment, (also a bit small font size?). Gameplay wise, a fun little text adventure
I had similar issues as the folks commenting here. The text wasn't aligned, but the game was still playable, and pretty engaging! I wonder how you managed to keep track of all the dialogue paths? What's your secret :smirk:
Woah, nice story! The text looked perfectly fine for me in the browser. Great work on the music too!
Well done with writing all that story! That is a lot to get written in such a short period! Good job!
Didn't have any issues that others are reporting. I enjoyed the game, well done! While some choices felt arbitrary I could see patterns in the others and some clues early on helped later (I think?)
All hail the groundhogs!
@will-chambers @minibetrayal @binroot @blobo @yeti-kid @yeomsley Thank you all for playing!
@binroot I used array's to keep track where each room lead to.
@yeomsley I tried to create choices that felt viable. I can say some rooms took me quite some time to complete because I was having a hard time coming up with choices that felt good. Yes I did leave clues and I'm glad you were able to pickup on them.
Interesting text adventure. It was at its best when the puzzles were intuative and solveable. You can guess your way through quickly if you don't care about the plot but it is well written and had some really fun moments.
Fun Little game, fun little text adventure/old point&click deaths vibe. Played through the end.
This game shows you different kind of "Stuck story" is possible. Sounds are good.
Very different from anything that I have played before, you definitely used the theme is an innovative way! It's clear that you have spent a TON of time writing all this story. I appriciate the fact that reading the text actually helped (quite often). And after dying over and over you start to remember the pattern and can get back to where you were quite fast. The music was nice as well. Great job!
The game looks fine. The only thing I didnt like is the font. If you need to read a lot of text, is better to have a more "standard" font. So just leave this stylized font for Menus/buttons and section titles
Cool choose your own adventure style game. Having to remember my choices everytime to get to the same place was annoying, and it didn't seem like there was anything actually changing between loops.
I apologize, I kind of just busted through without reading much, but I did get to the end. I am lord of the groundhogs now, and I killed the dragon with the shield. I guess I'm not the audience for these types of stories. I kind of played the memory game here. I actually do like D&D with friends, but I think the game would have been more fun with some sort of reward. Even some sound effect when I click the correct option would have been more carrots for me to eat along the way and keep me engaged. The art style was very nice, and sat well with the story telling. Thank you for the game :)
We went with the primarily text-based approach and you did a great job! It makes you dig a bit deeper and develop a story, which you did very well. Didn't actually seem that short to me!
I really enjoyed the story, and appreciate the effort that went into the writing - that's really hard to achieve in compo time constraints. The music has the correct vibe for this kind of game - adds some atmosphere, but not invasive enough to distract from engaging with the story. I think a bit of time could be spent polishing up the presentation - i.e the text alignment. Also, I think it could be helpful to have a larger font size, or even multiple font sizes that the player can choose from. But overall, I thought it was a good take on the theme, and an enjoyable story.
Great idea of a text adventure game. First one I've come across so points for originality. It brings back fond memories of the Zork series long ago. Well done providing and in-depth, well thought out story for such a quick turn around time.
Lovely game, I always enjoy your LD contributions. Admittedly I also had issues with the small font size (picture for reference) but I got my glasses out and played through it anyway. I thought the story was plenty long, especially for a jam game. It is a little cumbersome when you get soooo far and you have to repeat all your steps, but at least the text helps you out sometimes. I really liked the word puzzles toward the very end. Now I wanna know what's up with all the groundhogs...

Oh boy, that was a journey! It felt like I couldn't get any choice right on the first try, haha. Well done, a simple mechanic executed diligently, it's obvious you put quite some effort into the content, while many jam games are just tech demos with proof-of-concept gameplay.
Maybe it would be a bit meaner to the players, but I think the story/outcomes would have felt more natural if not every bad choice ended in a death immediately, but allowed you to explore some dead-ends.
Spoilers: if somebody just wants to read the story, I put the correct choices in a pastebin here: https://pastebin.com/SwSzPLgT
@ruthiepee First of all thank you for the kind words and thank you for playing. As for the issue, I am unable to reproduce it. What browser were you using? Also what is the Zoom level of your text in the browser?
@ditam Thanks for playing and no matter what I score in the final ratings this LD will go down as my best! I have a cheat guide for my game! I don't think I can ever top this!
@kunonooni I'm using Firefox on Windows at 100% (normal) zoom. However I do have my Windows UI scaling at 125%. Dunno!
