I'd suggest the game start on the construction screen as you have to build the house first before you can do anything else. Took me a second to poke around and realize. A few more words in the tooltip about what some of the things are, what they enable, and where they can be placed and such would be handy.
This does throw me back, these types of research sim games are always fun. Good job! My village perished...

rebuilding civilisation from memory with a useless phone is a fun premise, and the tech tree is way bigger than i expected for a compo. hard to tell early on how fast research is coming in, a progress bar on the current research would help
@mikeware Thanks, I should have made it clearer that you can accrue resources manually by clicking where it says collect X. More tooltips would have been good or even a help button that you can mouse over things with to get more information. Sorry to hear that your village perished I'm sure they just decided to leave you be.
@gevernus Thanks! I did find myself over scoping on what kind of game I wanted to attach my tech tree to, there is an equally long list of unlockable resources and buildings. The visuals are rather plain but I didn't feel like I could do much else in the time left after I'd implemented the mechanics, same with sound. A progress bar sounds like a good idea, it could be a lightbulb that lights up :)
Loved it. Some UI QoL missing, mostly knowing which buildings you already had, but for such a short game, not really mandatory.
Felt like A Dark Room mashed up with Civilization.

Interesting, I liked exploring the tech tree. Some tech explanations tooltips were missing! I'm still wondering what religion is for ^^
Fun concept, would've loved to see the settlement building mechanics fleshed out a bit more. It felt like most of the tasks I could assign workers to by the end didn't really affect the gameplay. My score was 6100.
The idea for this game was a really good spin on the theme. I quite enjoyed playing it. I don't think I fully understood what I was doing all the time (like why I was unlocking things and what purpose each resource had), but I somehow managed to bring society into a new age of enlightenment. The feel of the game would have benefitted from some music and UI sounds, but overall, I thought it was fun!
@jesus-gonzalez Thank you! An incremental version of Civilization was exactly what I was going for. Yes a total of what buildings you had already placed down would have been good, a tooltip for hovering over a placed building would have been good as well.
@sevansevan I'm glad you liked the tech tree as I kind of designed the rest of the game around it :) As for why some tech tooltips were missing well, I might not have thought of something to unlock with them... For all we know the people might just really like cooking, archery and religion.
@shimmerscale Yeah I wasn't quite sure what to do with the settlement building and having a map for it was rather tacked on. There were lots of different foodstuffs as I had planned for them to affect a happiness mechanic. I also wanted tools to affect production but didn't work out how to implement it. Congrats on the score!
@human-writes-code Thank you :D It could have done with more guidance of what various parts of the interface did, I clean forgot to put tooltips on resources saying what they required and did. Towards the end I considered adding sound effects but my basic beeps and boops seemed more annoying than anything, I should try more advanced sound stuff.

Loved it! I beat it in 271s and scored 6600. It was fun to place stuff on the map, that really was a nice addition. I think everything could have used more explanation, like what does a building do, how much do things cost, etc. I figured out what was going on pretty quickly an idle game and aoe enjoyer, but without that framework it couldve been a bit confusing. Overall great work!
Nice entry 👍 like others ... I struggled with the fact that I had to build the house first... not too long - so it did not take away from the experience. Really good job on this one. A bit "more UI" would have helped me - I kinda forgot the color codes when building ... so I didn't know exactly what I had. Minor thing tho. 2026-10-21_09h55_30.png
I didn't knock the others out of the park time-wise, but my score seems pretty high! I made a lot of tools, to the point where I was wondering where all my resources went (but I got ancient civilization right later, at the end I had a setup where everything was rising nicely, the empire is secured).

Very fun game! I like how good it feels when all the numbers go up. Also the way new resources kept getting introduced kept it fresh, I liked how it naturally went hand-in-hand with the map expansion upgrades. What I also liked is that you could always pitch in by manually clicking the buttons, in the aforementioned "wood crisis era" I could just take over for the poor overworked wood collector and make enough myself to build more houses and get more woodworkers. This game hit the power fantasy of building a nice system really well, great job on that, very well-designed!
@acartlidge Thank you :D I was happy I managed to get the map in as I hadn't really planned to have that. Yes more explanation would have been good, it's very easy to lose sight of what a new player would see when you've spent so long building the systems in the code.
@purpledartfrog Thanks! Ah right the colour codes, those should have been over the building select buttons or something. Congrats on the time :)
@captaindreamcast I'm glad you enjoyed it so much thanks! I was hoping the feeling of unlocking new resources through tech would keep it interesting and I'm happy to hear that you were helping out your workers. Good score there, clearly the tool production helped. If I had more time I would have wanted the tools to be used for something other than score. Thanks :)

@khananaphone2 Haha, good job clicking :D But seriously thanks for being the first person to speedrun the game :)

LOL @ the speedrunner. I beat the game in 237 seconds on my first try. It's perhaps a little too easy? Besides needing some clarity on the UI I really love this game. Score is kind of a cool mechanic I didn't realize was a thing until the game over screen, so it's even got some replayability. The theme is amazing. As an incremental game fan I would love to play a full version of this.

Solid implementation of an incremental game, I could see the seeds of the mechanic layering that I find makes the best of those games so fun to play. I do wish that either it had told me that making stuff led to higher score or that technology unlocks required the materials rather than just science points, I ended up just building the buildings but mostly just leaving the people on "think" for a lot of it since I thought the goal was quickly progressing. (which tbf it kind of is, there are two scores to look at). Overall a great game jam entry, well done!
Really cool game with so much depth! It was really easy and intuitive to pick up on the flow, and satisfying to watch the game scale up.

After I discovered on the end screen that pottery and coins would increase your score, I had to play again 😄 It's very simple to beat but I know it is hard to balance things in so little time. I loved it overall!

Some sound effects would have been nice. Once food is sorted out, it is too easy to just unlock the whole tech tree. So having a score to push players more to engage with different mechanics is a nice idea. Maybe different endings based on your final score would push players more in that direction. @ruthiepee @smilewood @wormkingboo @kumber @lomna @beareye Thank you so much for playing and the kind words. I'm really happy to find people think it's a fun incremental game as I'm a fan of the genre. Now to play all of your games in return!
