Mortal Wombat by myachin 2013-12-17T17:25:00
I enjoy the weirdness in this. I like the animation of the fighter. I also like the way they are destroyed by the cat (parts flying everywhere).

I like this simple game.
I couldn't stop until I won.
now I feel dizzy, but I got cake.
Your music is cool too!
My suggestion for future build is that the music should loop continuously and not start over each time you loose.
This is wonderful.
My suggestion to avoid so much misunderstanding from your players would be that you replace the "cosmic janitor" blurb by a text simply saying that the aim of the game is to explore it and its (rather simple) mechanics.
I like the music. The stickman paper stripe animation looks very good.
creative puzzles
Can't run it : it opens and closes immediately. Could you give info on how to run this? Your screenshots look amazing.
If I understand well, this wan't made during the 72 hours?
Thank you for this game, I enjoyed it so much.
Scary!
the whole idea of a puzzle is that you need to figure out how it works. I guess people just get lazy. The game is just perfect in this compo version, charming graphics, I like the use of latin, and very interesting idea of a 2d labyrinth. Took me maybe 5 minutes to finish... People just being lazy after trying so many games I guess. I really liked the last animation, when you finally notice this little flame and understand what it was. Most of it I like that you didn't say too much. Really great.
cool.
I escaped (I guess). Interesting camera effects!
I don't know how to run this. I like the visuals. I think you should do an exe.
I like the look of it. Scarves look great. Incredible how this little detail brings life up to an otherwise static layout.
Everything goes very smooth... I like the music also.
NB I hear a windows error sound each time I press the spacebar
great.
looks good!
impossibly hard to I didn't get further than the first track
I like a lot of things about this game : stupidity, flying money, impossible controls, voice acting, car sprites, and ice.
Okay so you didn't give up and you managed to make a game about managing to make a game and not giving up, so I have to send you metacongratulations.
Also it's a good depiction of the experience of making a first twine game, including the mandatory reading of auntiepixelante's (I guess) tutorial.
Ha! It was fortunate I read in the comment that it was possible to beat this game, so I took the time to figure out the solution. You managed to design a clever puzzle that goes with an interesting atmosphere, congratulations.
This is a great little game! Ok I got my ass beaten up 3 times and that was quite humiliating. The whole idea of having to play a match alone against 11 gorillas stronger and faster than you is wonderful.
awesome
2 weeks of programming? Wow, keep up with the good work.
Congratulations on your first ludum dare game.
This is a surprising one. The world needs more games of this kind.
My only suggestion (for your next game) is that you build a standalone exe instead of an installer-game (there is an option for that in Game Maker).
Interesting idea, unfortunately the detection does not work well here. I will try this on other computers, I'm interested.
best "one-upgrade" game i've seen so far in LD
feels like you can actually choose your gameplay and adapt it to your skills, it's an interesting idea
Most of all I love the way the burger guys leave a static "wind" trail when he rushes to see the paint
I can't run it (windows 8).
It says a lot of things including the last line "unable to share contexts".
I wish I could play this.
this game is really well done
Wait...this is great. Not even sure what I found in it was intentionnaly put there. I will come back and read it over again. Whatever your LD ratings might be in the end, please know you achieved something with this game.

It says "“Shit“" on Monday 16:07 after "letting yourself be sent out by the nurse". If this is a typo I think it's ok to correct it now. If it's intentional, nevermind.
I also think the yes/no is a little confusing. I thought I had to answer the question : "difficult?".
Actually the typo is not exactly as written above, because it has be re-encoded when copy/pasted here, but you get the idea : strange characters.
well done.
The post-jam one is good too! I have one suggestion, maybe find a way not to have "white square" when no color is asked for.
I had the biggest scarejump of my life when I saw my name in the inspiration section. That's probably the biggest compliment I've received since I've started making games. Now because of this it feels a bit awkward to comment on your game, so I'll come back later, play it again, and leave another comment about the content.
Miltage : I think you're right. I will change this if I make another build.
thebrainfuse : I guess the fun (and challenging thing) about this game is that you are constantly re-learning the audio cues because they are randomized (at least it's how I meant it)
Omaha : maybe you should check the entry called "Can you hear me"? It works on the mechanics you're talking about. http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-28/?action=preview&uid=4020
Everybody else : thank you so much for all these comments. I'm so happy I entered ludum dare.
obviously :)
I like this very much! The first time I lost it it felt so bad! And these red stars threatening to come down to take it from me! And the colors... and this glowing thing I'm holding in my mouth (at least I guess so). And the audio. Well done.
nice-looking!
Interesting! It's nice to be able to retry as much as you want, and to be able to analyze your previous moves.
Elegant mechanic.
I like the fact that I didn't understand it was top view right away.
What I like in this game is the way the first dialog + music give some "flesh" to the very simple shooting scene that comes afterwards.
It works properly on my ocmputer. It is a sad game.
This is either based on an amazing Tenerifian folk story I've never heard about, OR you made it up. In both case, amazing choice. Also the two players mode is waaaay more interesting with the pass you have to do with this cap, and really makes more sense than 1 player, have you considered getting rid of the single player mode? And the animation is great. And the look of it. Ok it's totally buggy so you can't really play it so now I will go to your website and try the full version. The only thing I don't like so much in this game is the music loop : it's too short so it gets very repetitive. Anyway, this is excellent, especially as a first game. Nice choices, interesting gameplays, amazing look.
very difficult! I enjoyed this
I like this one, it's a nice interpretation of the theme, and your levels are well designed, but this is too hard for my eyes, especially on my bright screen. Since we're playing in one dimension have you considered allowing us to play with a 100%-width sprite? (I don't know if it would look).
I sure like the intro as well, when you shrink then expand the line. Less is more.
It reminds me a bit of linescape http://azurenimbus.com/
closes right after opening
running under windows8
can not install on windows 8 : requests assembly Microsoft.xna.Framwork.Content.Pipeline version 4
Well this is good job. There's everything that you need : levels, boss, sprites, sounds, movement... I also like that you uploaded preliminary sketches! My only suggestion would be to write down the control scheme in the game's description, because I didn't realize quickly that I could attack.
Congratulations for finishing a game in time, using this C++ crazyness and all. Sounds like magic to me.
I've got the same problem with rainbow man, it gets slow...
Very fine first game. It's simple, I like the font, I like the fact that you get to try different controls (mouse, click, keyboard, drag & drop). I tried all the different paths.
is it impossible to play with mouse and keyboard?
There are interesting ideas in this. If you want more people to rate it, may I suggest you upload it on philome.la (if you have a twitter account) or textadventures.co.uk and then come back and link it again. Or upload it anywhere else where the browser can directly open it.
Well done textures. The reflection of the red light (especially when this thing is right after you) gives you thrills. Also, the sound of this thing!
I say, why not :) I'd like to hear what the three of you told each other when you decided to make this! Anyway, pleasant graphic, appropriate music, cool animation, and the gameplay is totally absurd and i like it.
I don't know what to do with these .class files, I think you should at least write down some instructions on how to proceed...
this is the kind of puzzle games I love : makes things happen in your brain, not on screen. Thank you for this entry
My only suggestion is that the gameplay should be slightly faster (faster transitions between levels), but it's already almost perfect as it is.
I will play this again and make other people play it.
I love your game. Making sense with a simple zoom out...incredible.
I wish there were no words at the end and you had let me enjoy my own mood and ideas.. The visuals and most of it, the mechanics are enough to communicate your idea! Other people may think otherwise.
amazing graphics, sounds and music.
it's more original than most 1-button games around here
very well done game with uncommon use of one-click button gamaplay, I like the music too.
Simple but effective, not knowing what the sounds mean adds a lot to the atmosphere! You can't help wondering what must have happened. I couldn't beat it (and I can't really identify the direction of the sound, but my earphones are very bad). Somehow similar to my own game!
Nice idea.
Suggestion for future build : difficulty should increase much faster. I found the 15 first levels too easy
One eye! Cool. This should be ported to multiplayer :)
this is ocol
I liked it.
Very, very effective game. Brings Prince of Persia childhood memories to my mind.
i couldn't solve this yet but I like the idea!
solid work, nice level design
refreshing! I liked it
excellent idea, very inspiring
Wow this is EXTREMELY COOL.
Like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP_GrmYVF6c
These graphics are weirdly reminiscent of CGA. The city looks awesome.
Things I don't like : the music loop, the fade-to-white effect.
Like the person above I found some bottles but I never seem to find the magic one!
Years instead of HP is a great idea.
"You loose one year". Wow.
