I almost quit too soon thinking this was just a dumb Mario clone. I'm glad I played to the second level. That was a nice surprise. Well done! But the movement wasn't quite as smooth as mario and made getting past the star on the third level too frustrating. So I quit playing. I still really liked it,tho. :)

This was a great 3D romp in a fantasy world. I liked the dragon a lot. Very clean, and well made FPS.
Very nice and polished! Beautiful. My only request is to rotate the game board. (and perhaps a zoom.) Well done!
Cool wireframe effect, but hard to navigate because hard to see. A map screen would be nice, like in the old Doom game. Strafing up and down also needed. And a speed boost key of some sort. Excellent graphics and great idea for game.
I couldn't quite get the idea of the game down, but the flying around and shooting was well done. I liked the graphics and the music. I think it needs a bit more explaining/tutorial at the beginning.
Very cool graphics and idea, but a little glitchy. When on a planet and run into a asteroid that is close to planet, I get stuck running and can't move. Also, jumped off into space and ended up trapped floating in space - no gravity pulled me back. Otherwise, the game felt and played really cool.
Neat dot-to-dot game. Seems like it needed something more, not sure what tho.
Pretty cool "old-school"-style game. I liked the levels being short. The first level had me stumped for quite a while and I almost gave up. But alas, I figured it out and made it thru the entire game. Well done!
Ok.
I liked the look of this game, but playing it was difficult. After I got a few screens in, I wasn't able to pick up the travelling points anymore.
Very difficult remembering which control is which. I think a button to switch the controls back and forth would be better -- then highlight the side in which you are controlling. Neat puzzle game, but no audio.
Neat idea. Needs more explanation at game start. Perhaps a video tutorial.
Definitely has connected world theme by dimensional travelling. Game is quite simple at the moment and could use some more work. Funny looking character and crazy warping sound effect was awesome.
I've never played minecraft so I was unfamiliar with this. It seemed kinda pointless, but I guess that's how minecraft is. Everything seemed to work the way it was supposed to.
Nice concept, but seems to quit making money altho I have filled the entire map with track and cities. I had fun playing, still.
Funny game! Would have been more fun if the mouse control wasn't so crazy-touchy. I barely move the mouse to look around and I turn half way around. It made it hard to exact my movement the way I wanted. Once the space-pigs came thru the portal, there was no hope to continue with the lack of control (with the mouse). That's my only complaint, really. I liked everything else about it. It made me laugh. Perfect music, too. Nice work.
Wow,great game!! I liked the artwork a lot. The art reminds me of "Evil Genius" -- one of my favorites. The gameplay was excellent. I'll be looking for more levels from you. :)
Good puzzles (and some bad ones, too. lol) Nice little game.
Moving around wasn't consistent -- seemed to hang on walls. Graphics were great!
Great, simple game. Nice, smooth movement. Collision mask probably too big on chicken. Wasn't sure about the music at first, but it grew on me quite a bit while playing. First level was probably a bit too challenging, but great job all in all.
Welp -- I wasn't able to test the game all the way thru before submitting and there's a dumb error at the end that keeps you from getting to the win screen. Here's the fixed version. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46956737/ParaPlats/ParaPlats_Demo_fixed.zip Still no sound. I think I'll add a music track and submit it to the LD Jam. ---HayManMarc
Chrome doesn't like Gamemaker games in dropbox. After downloading the game using Chrome, you need to renime the file inside the folder you downloaded it to. The file will look something like "Unconfirmed 949770.crdownload". Just rename it to "Paraplats_demo.zip" then you'll be able to extract and run like normal. I just tested the link and it works fine for me.
Thank you all for the rates and replies!! Scipio Xaos -- I did not intend on that, but realized it would happen during building and playtesting the level. I chalked it up as a maze-like feature, even tho it was emergent. :)
Also, apologies to all for the harsh "starting-the-level-over-at-death" thing. I did not have time to do anything else, nor have I coded a checkpoint system before.
make sure you download the fixed version: http://haymanquarterly.com/downloads/ParaPlats_Demo_fixed.zip
The graphics were awesome, altho simple. Really liked the way everything seemed to have a random movement to it. The control of the ship was wonky. I could only rotate right and left, which made things extremely difficult and frustrating. Great start to a space flying game.
More camera angles and zoom please! Funny, weird little game.
Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
Pretty neat. Needs more sounds/music. Perhaps a scoreboard and day progression. Funny idea all around, tho. I enjoyed it.
Clicky-clickity-click-click. Interesting mashup of cookie clicker and tower defense. The little guys didn't path find very well and they had a lot of trouble destroying houses. Restarting the level over and over was kinda weird.
Cute game. Nice and complete. Well done, Sunflower Girl!! :) We didn't see all the diffent things to eat until I read the other comments. Made it to the galaxies. :)
"Did you play with family?" Yes, played it with my 8 year old daughter. She said she thought it was cute. :)
Very nice graphics! The story looked well conceived. The gameplay was horribly unforgiving, having to start over from the level start. Probably wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been struggling with the control scheme. I prefer up arrow for jump and index finger for attack.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! At the end of the jam, I only had a couple hours to make the levels and story, thus the shortness of the game. Plus, no time to implement Zombie Mode, which would have added quite a dynamic to the gameplay. Being a novice, all the code was getting pretty jumbled and crazy at this point. May have to start this one over from scratch. :)
Stuck on crates?? That's weird. I can't get stuck on crate even when I try. Could you explain more about where and how you are getting stuck on crates so that I might reproduce it to find out why it's happening?
Seems like every other amateur TDS out there. I didn't feel like I was a zombie fighting humans. It felt like the other way around. Just saying it, doesn't make it so. (My zombie game wasn't much better. lol) Nice lighting, tho! :) Keep on keepin' on!
It was complete and well made, but it was quite depressing.
Not bad, but not really great. Really weird jump mechanic. I liked the character art. Gameplay got repetitive after a while.
Neat idea and awesome art, but I couldn't juggle the controls well enough to enjoy playing it.
We had a really fun time playing this. Nicely done! Criticisms - time limit seemed too short. Maybe have some way to gain more time (special items). Noise meter seemed to reset too slowly.
Really cool looking all around. I liked unlocking new characters. But the gameplay got old and stale pretty fast. Perhaps speeding up the attack movements would help. And a forfeit button so I didn't have to wait so long to inevitably lose, sometimes.
Nice graphics. The roar doesn't work all the time. It's over incredibly fast. But fun mayhem, nonetheless.
