LD30 — Connected Worlds

Cable Theory by hadesfury 2014-08-27T18:24:00

Not a clue how to play this. Tried pressing all 6 buttons at once, then just the Riff A (sounded great!) and Riff B but this did no damage, then just attack which did nothing. First guy got to -36 health, second to 12/30 (why was the second one so much healthier?) Enemy only down to 35/50.

I'm bailing, no rating since I clearly don't understand this. Looks pretty though.

The Legend of Glowing Balls by Hemuuuli 2014-08-27T17:54:00

A very impressive quantity and quality of content for a 3 day game. I got lost a lot though and really didn't care for the combat, since even the spiders take like five hits (or roughly a minute).

Then I discovered that you can just walk slowly around enemies, and finished the game with 100% health and six enemies trailing me. Sort of a game breaker, but I'm super glad I didn't have to spend ten minutes slowly whacking and backing away. Also I don't really see how the theme applies.

Low marks for fun, super high marks for content.

This is a seriously large amount of world and gameplay for a 48 hour entry, you undersold it. The gameplay is fun and it's really satisfying to switch worlds and solve a puzzle. Reminds me of Fezz, with a twist.

Unfortunately the boss oneshotted me and I didn't feel like climbing back up again. A checkpoint would be nice. Highest rating yet out of maybe 12 games.

Space Traffic Controller by ChrisGaudino 2014-08-27T15:25:00

I got 26 before two hit each other. Cool game, immediately understandable if you've played air traffic control on a smartphone. The added complexity of the moons and orbit paths kept me on my toes, but I still felt the ships moved quite slow, especially when there were only a few.

It's your game, but might I suggest a bright flash of light when ships appear? It would let me know where and could be explained as a wormhole =)

Connected Worlds Inc. by CAT_IN_THE_DARK_WOOD 2014-08-27T15:48:00

A very quick paced action platformer, I enjoyed it! Unfortunately it seems to be largely luck if you dodge the crab attacks, so it's mostly a race to the finish.

I love the cable physics (is it getting stuck on stuff though?) and the concept of bringing Google Fibre to other WORLDS even, after seeing all the internet problems American Redditors have. You get extra points for that concept.

Space Survival by Dronedary Games 2014-08-27T14:23:00

Couldn't beat it, only got to 130s each time before running out of resources. Frustrating gameplay, that bottom left planet is really greedy, and I feel like there was a lot of room for more fun and depth by using realistic gravity and momentum, perhaps a little backstory so I have something to think about during the n^th try. The graphics were well done though.

IF by Squid Blink Games 2014-08-27T16:28:00

Quite an interesting concept, making a playable metaphor for depression to help others understand it (and vent, probably). The backstory/intro added an enormous amount of weight. Nice art with a solid theme, and appropriate music/sound.

Two things kept me from finishing: One, the platforming is sketchy, I keep running off the edge because my jumps fail. Two, when I listen to characters the darkness keeps closing it. It also reverted me back to the first level after I let my emotion get out of hand, so I gave up.

I'm sure you've probably heard this before, but there are help lines you can call that might help you sort things out if you're feeling crushed.

Invasion by Ogniok 2014-08-27T14:47:00

I got quite motion sick, which is not normal for me and first person games. I think it was the screen tilting and the slow walk cycle, not sure.

I got 21 kills and made it to the 3rd wave playing as the ninja. This is quite an impressive amount of content for 3 days, you (guys?) should be proud. That being said it was kind of frustrating, the attack animation took forever and it wasn't clear when the enemy damage started/ended, for blocking.

I tried the geek and died immediately, since his attack takes 4 times longer then the enemies and does no damage. Maybe with a team to gather coins he'd be effective.

With the warrior I made it to wave 4, mostly because I discovered you can block and hit at the same time. Getting 3 kills with 1 hit was quite satisfying.

Overall an impressive entry but one that tries to achieve a lot for a 3 day project, and as such the gameplay feels unbalanced and poor.

Linked by a Rhythm by Blastopio 2014-08-27T18:08:00

Really neat game idea, I feel like if it got much harder I would have had to figure out how to react to the shoot-sounds alone and change my colors. As it was, I did it visually.

This is obviously just a concept demo since it only has 5 rooms, but it's creative and impressive. Good work.
*Just read your note at the top, that explains why it felt like one person built this from scratch. Even more impressive!

Spirit Shift by RhythmLynx 2014-08-27T18:51:00

Super gorgeous graphics, both the backgrounds and the sprites, and the scrolling backgrounds are awesome. Music was fitting but got repetitive. Very difficult game, my highscore after 5-10 minutes was 850.

If the jumps changed height depending on how long you held the button, that would help a lot. As it was, so often I was put in certain-death situations and could only spam the change-world button and pray. I could barely work to time my jumps on the foreground layer, let alone pay any attention to the back.

Skewer World by tatmos 2014-08-27T15:41:00

Uh what? I mean this is trippy and amusing as hell, but it seems to be playing itself except for my attack key. I "played" until 118 and then got bored. No idea how to rate this, not really sure if it's a game. Cool physics and movement though.

Killbot's Last Adventure by udo 2014-08-27T15:06:00

A very impressive amount of content and quality for 3 days, especially since you made the music yourself! Killbot was fairly funny too, a nice surprise after all the serious games.

'Gameplay' was a bit simple and slow, not really my style. Could have been sped up maybe.
