They see me breeding, they hatin'...
I was breeding for so long before I realized you could explore the game map. Really cool idea. I haven't really seen breeding in any game before.

I thought I was indestructible until I realized my death count was rising. I killed a lot of bogeys though, a whole lot of them!
Just stopping by to say I am jealous of your pixel art skills. Really cool stuff.
I think you have the groundwork for a really cool game. It took me like three tries to get that dang heart jump for a second I thought you made the final jump impossible. That could have been a cool metaphor for how hard it is to find true love though! Or maybe I'm just weird..
Really cool look. I think a game like this could be CRAZY in multiplayer. People popping out of electronics devices and stuff, would definitely be interesting.
Having some trouble getting it to work right now.
Oh crap I might have scored it on accident. It first makes me go to a second link called Sand Battle! and then the boxes all stick to the bottom right corner.
Pretty great. Nice use of the theme. I wish the controls felt a little more crisp in terms, and same goes for collision. But really a great game for the 48 hour contest.
I liked the graphics and the music but I was having a bit of trouble figuring out what to do.
Cool idea, fun and simple. One little note you're actually supposed to only use original music produced during the 48 hour period (with some exceptions allowed for things like drum loops).
A very cool concept. I wish I knew words were going to increase in cost. They're breaking my bank over here! I'm curious to see where this will go.
I kind of wish there wasn't that long drawn out timer. As it stands right now I don't think it really serves any purpose besides making me wait. I wanted to start clicking everything right away. If there was some sort of link damage happening during the timer it would make more sense.
Is there actually a reason for it that I'm not getting? It was a cool idea it just moves too slow as of right now.
Really cool art style. You definitely have talent as a pixel artist, I liked the setting and dialogue. Just to point out one small glitch, when you press both arrow keys you can break the animation and glide across he floor for a bit. It was very minor just thought I'd point it out, I don't know anything about using Construct 2 so maybe that's difficult to remedy.
Reminds me of Ripple Runner a small amount (that's a good thing). It's a pretty fun game. I like how you have lives so that you don't get overly frustrated by one screw up haha. Puzzles were about the right difficulty.
Wow amazing art for 48 hours and a really cool design. Unfortunately, I seem to be very bad at your game haha!
I honestly just don't know what's going on. It looks like my soldiers get dropped off and then suicide charge some enemy bunker that's somehow practically in our base. A really cool concept but it needs a lot more work. A good start for 48 hours though.
Really cool idea. I didn't get all the way through so I'm not sure if they ever had a use but if I had been you I would not have bothered making the trees and flowers haha. Every second counts. A really cool idea though.
I have an idea about how you did things but I make check out your source just for fun.
Definitely rough around the edges. I was having a lot of trouble with the controls. But hey, people are saying the same about my game so I can't fault you for that haha.
Really impressive and well put together. It would be nice if the switching was a bit, I don't know, easier? I mean it's easy too switch but it's difficult to do it effectively. Maybe if there weren't so many places to switch and the appropriate switching was a bit more obvious. Really a fun game though, one of the most fun I've played so far.
I hope I made Rick proud.
I replayed it and decided to attack the thing in the middle. It didn't work, but I was greeted with a You Lose screen that has me evaluating my life decisions. 11/10 would play again
Really cool graphics and nice use of the theme. I just wish it was a bit more fleshed out in terms of what the goal was and what the stars do. There doesn't seem to be any score related stuff implemented yet.
I managed to beat it finally! That was actually pretty challenging. I couldn't get that part with the clouds coming together before the boat so I ended up going to physics 3 and just straight jumping over all the spikes. I think I broke my spaceship though or something. 11/10 would play again.
I went to a bar with Harry Potter, Link, Hannibal, Batman, Robin, a bouncer named Jay, Lara Croft who appears to be on a date with Charlie Chaplin, the couple from Pride and Prejudice, and Harry Potter... and I made a name for myself for a mysterious boss.
11/10 would play again
Great graphics, nice polish. I agree with the other comments for the most part. Really impressive for the time frame.
It's obviously bread and butter platformer mechanics but it is actually quite difficult which makes it pretty entertaining. I find it funny how you can hug underneath the level by pressing up and colliding with the ceiling.
This game is pretty tough after the first few levels! I found it a bit easier if I used my mouse cursor to plot out the square I needed to book it to haha. Definitely a cool game. Solid menu, graphics, and features for the time constraint. I thought the progression was about right too. Really good use of the theme. I'm going to beat it... eventually.
Yeah I agree the automatic running serves almost no purpose in this game right now. It was more so one of those 'initial design' schematics where it was going to be important which direction you were moving when you hit the color blobs.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the level design to a point where that made sense. I probably should set the controls as something more normal once I realized my level design ideas weren't going to be accomplished in the 48 hour period. Thanks for the rating and feedback!
I actually did use Cubes instead of planes. The problem was actually something that was going weird with the Unity directional lights.
The raycasting is definitely a bit off and to play this game quickly you generally have to spam space a lot in its current state.
Yep level 4 is another semi-broken level. The original idea was for the orb to put the purple wall back in but there's a couple problems.
1. You can over jump the victory orb thing.
2. You can repeatedly hit it, which definitely is frustrating.
Oh yeah it's VERY possible to break the game on most levels. I *think* I'm allowed to fix that so I'll look into it soon I just needed a break once I got it submitted. My quick fix is to tell people to press "q" or escape.
Thanks for the comments guys. I had never made 2.5d before (I've only been making games for 2 months) so I decided I wanted to specifically because I wanted to use particles and lighting... which of course ended up becoming the entire game.
I agree the remove obstacle mechanic seems forced (especially with the current level design) but I didn't realize other games were using color to do it?
Wow so many comments! Thanks for the feedback everyone I'll try to get around to reviewing all of your entries.
All of your criticisms are very valid and I agree with pretty much everything that's being said. I didn't realize how many games use color combining! I'll have to look into a way to make that mechanic more unique or fun.
The one thing I disagree with some people on is I actually HATE the music. I feel like it was hastily thrown together, as I didn't actually start it until the final hour of the competition.
I'll have to check yours out SelfishGnome. There are still a lot of people I'm trying to get through, as I want to give everyone's game a fair play. I just posted out an overly lengthy write up that no one in the world should ever read detailing my plans for the future of this game/my criticisms of it.
I had a lot of fun. Grabbed the second spot on the leaderboards and was apparently blown out by the game's creator, but I would expect that much. I bet someone will pass me soon though :P.
Hey just wanted to stop by and say I only started using Unity and programming a couple months ago and I learned largely by using your tutorials. In particle, I've been through your multiplayer FPS series a couple times. I successfully produced a game for this Ludum Dare (although it is incredibly unfinished), but I never would have managed it without your videos. Thanks!
Your videos have really helped me get started in Unity. I'm a bit too brain dead to figure out your game right now, but it sure looks impressive for 48 hours of time.
A bit confusing for me but interesting concept.
