That intro was amazing - the tone that is set here is very nice. Great job.

That intro was amazing - the tone that is set here is very nice. Great job.
I'm a sucker for this theme, would definitely want to see it fleshed out into a longer game!
nice to see some other gms games on here!
Amazing job on creating a mood here, I can see you've put alot of effort into the story! I wish dying didn't restart the entire game though - I'm afraid I won't be able ot get to the ending like this
Really good game. very cool atmosphere) And i like the graphic style
Thanks to everyone for the comments! We've updated the game play so that you respawn at the start of the level instead of at the top menu. Hope you enjoy and get to experience the plot through the end of the game.
Cool dialogs. Love the concept but very repetitive i would like to see more upgrades and less monster on top of each other which caused them to be un-hitable, the color choices for the art were all over the place and honestly gave me headache.
Such a cool atmosphere. The dialog and opening intro were awesome. I loved the gritty art style. Really cool game. Good job.
Love the setting and theme overall! The dialoque was especially well written. The pixel art was pretty good individually but didn't seem like it fit together. Music and sound worked reslly well the the tone and setting! The gameplay itself was pretty basic, it's fun to shoot at things for a little bit, but there's not really a whole lot to keep a player interested after the initial hook of the setting. Would love to see this world fleshed out more, hope you guys keep working at it!
I don't know how the team manage to do so much. The atmosphere is great, the history and dialog very intriguing, felt like there's more to the story. The gameplay is solid and kept me on my toes. I got a Metroid+Downwell feeling. Awesome game!
Interesting idea
Interesting ideas with background ;D
Fairly short but interesting game
Epic Soundtrack, combined with the dramatic background at the beginning and the dark story - gave me goosebumbs :D I liked the mysterious storyline and the difficulty (starting very easy at the beginning and ramping up quickly in the last level). Good variation in enemies and an interesting idea to protect your rope thingy.
It would be nice to see who is speaking, without reading his/her name (f.ex. display a color or an arrow). Mood was great!
I didn't see a remaining health bar, that would be a useful addition.
The in-level background is a bit too strongly pixelated, but I guess you already know that :)
Yeah, I really liked the idea of a meteorite crashing down leaving a crater to explore. I'm sure there are plenty of stories like that, but I guess I never came upon one^^
The game creates a little world to live in for a while, which I appreciate. The story reminds me a bit of the crater in one of the Fallout games. Controls are responsive and simple, graphics are interesting and stylized. My feedback would be that there are times when monsters can shoot you from inside walls, or from outside the screen, which is frustrating. Also, it's usually not a good idea to make players click repeatedly to shoot. You could just hold down mouse to shoot, for example, and create less strain on player's hands. The character art was very nice, and the music was appropriate. Well done!
@microchasm Thank you so much for this feedback. I'm fixing the build now to allow for holding the mouse down instead of clicking! It sadly never crossed my mind when we were putting this together, so apologizes to any folks who couldn't play this properly because of that.
The fundamental ideas here are interesting, ambitious for 3 days, good work!
Cool idea! Love how much you focused on story and mood. Got a whole backstory going in three days, impressive. Music and graphics are also great, cudos :) what I had hoped for when I read about your tether was a bit more realistic rope physics, but mainly because I also didn't do the greatest job on the ropes in my entry, haha. Was disapointed that it was over already after three levels, wanted to play more ;)
It's wonderful, the music and mood is fantastic!
hmm i wonder if that cruel angel has a thesis we should know about :) neat little game, though the descent felt a bit slow. especially in that horizontal movement was so much quicker than vertical. nice submission!
I really really like the intro of this game!!!! Is so great! Remember contra like games, great!!!!
The intro and how the narrative is being cooked is very appealing, the music fits nicely. It feels, though, the game idea was born before the actual jam. Yet, overall it's cool and stylish, and had fun for some levels until it got too deep (and hard). The actual gaming part, I believe you know, is to work with: rope balance, animation, new mechanics, weapons, etc. The story is a bit slow, too much talking. But the game is good.
There's some cool world building and mood with this game! I liked the writing and the dialogue. I also liked the idea of that the tether is something you need to protect and pay attention to as you descend further, which creates some interesting thinking around how you should move. Solid music too!
A really cool game. I like the mood of the game, the experience is very serious and attractive. The whole text and story section is very beautiful and intriguing. The gameplay is reasonable, the first and second levels are very easy while the third is extremely more complicated, getting to be unbalanced, but nothing that gets in the way of the experience. In general it is a creative interpretation of the theme. Congratulations.
Soo good! The atmosphere is amazing, it's so dense and reminds me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books a little (as well as some other productions mentioned above). I had a bug when the flying things were unkilleable?? I put dozens of bullets in them and they were still there, also some of their movement glitched. But it wasn't a big deal and the game restared from the beginning of the level not from the beginning of the whole game what is A HUGE plus for me. Cool graphics, the music was a masterpiece, an easy 5/5 for me overall (and I see you patched some stuff, good job!)
Great to finally see a Game Maker entry! I absolutely loved the cutscenes, their artstyle and characters you got there. Those were amazing. Dialogs were awesome too and I like that you don't even need to wait for them to show up, you can just show them instantly by double pressing. That is a nice touch that is not always expected in games made in such short amount of time. While I loved the cutscenes and dialolgs, the gameplay itself seemed very simplistic and the artstyle there did not really match the one in the cutscenes, at least for me. But I assume this is because of the short amount of time available to make it. I think that with a little bit of extra work, you could have something really special there. :)
The diaglogue and story elements to this were really good and i really liked the art and graphics. I think all it is missing for me was some UI for the armour and health of the tether as it makes it hard to decide what to choose from the crates sometimes. I also had a bug with the orange flying thinngs where i could not kill it but when i moved down further it started attacking again and then i could. Great game!
Really nice entry! The mood is great and art style matches it very well. The game just looks very nice! Good job! :)
Really creepy atmosphere with awesome music. Not a lot of LD games have good enough music and art to pull off such a strong atmosphere. I wish the story felt a little more complete, but that's pretty understandable in a game jam. The gameplay was ok, but would have been improved a lot by having slightly more interesting mechanics. Maybe a physics-based rappelling system?
It's super rare to find a Ludum Dare game with a great narrative and this one really gets it right. The aesthetics, the music and the story work really well together, nice work!
Realy cool mood and narrative. And music. Love it.
Loved the art. very moody and cool piece. Good job.
