Hey man, I can't play your game. Can you upload it directly to itch.io?
@toast-toaster @justcamh i fixed the download sorry about that first time :P
You appear to have not provided a download link on the itch.io page, but your "source code" on github is actually the compiled Unity game posted verbatim. You should provide the Unity project files in github, not the binary produced by it, otherwise you haven't actually released the source of your game. EDIT: oh its a Jam game, it doesn't need to provide source I guess? You should still make it clear that its not "source code" but the "game download".
After trying out the game you provided on github for some reason, everything looks pretty sci-fi. Kind of weird that the health and ammo bars look... strange. Its apparently the number of icons represent how much health and ammo you have, when the graphic seems to be designed to use a bar in the graphic instead? I could not progress past the "hangar" area as the spiral ramp is not climbable, and other paths appear to be a dead end. Also, the "hanger" area has enemies constantly respawning so all you can do is struggle to survive but eventually fall since its endless. The starting cutscene is a bit annoying because it tells you "E to skip" but the E key does nothing at all. The theme only ties into the game as part of the story about being an escaping sacrifice.
This game is like an adventure FPS, but there isn't much to explore, and there's only 2 types of enemies. Well its a Ludum Dare game so its hard to add lots of content in a short amount of time, so that's expected. Good effort.
I tried running this several times. I got partway through a loading screen until I could see some kind of figure with a bladey hand, and then it froze. I hit "E" to no avail.
@burnedkirby thank you ill fix it
@dob hmm ill try figure it out

Works now, thanks for fixing it. I think your game feels incredibly alien. Everything is weird, and there's no clue answer as to "why" for anything (which is great). I think the dubstep is a bit much. It was giving me Dead Bits vibes (which is never good).

@burnedkirby im sorry about it being confusing! ive fixed it now and all the bugs :)
@dob it was meant to close the game when you hit be sacreficed i did it as i joke but i now realise it was a poor decision i cant fix it now though which sucks :(( edit: its all fixed now
-----ATTENTION---- I know to coding im new to unity(been going for a month) your meant to shoot the glowing green generator 60 times then the enemys stop spawning and you can go up the ramp to the tele which leads to a new area then theres two generators
Oh, I get it now. Sorry. I understand. Funny idea, but you probably need to make it just a bit more obvious.
@dob yeah sorry about that :/
Whoa, nice shooting. Didn't expect a FPS. controls were good, I don't know if it's my mouse or the game or both but camera was crazy quick. Having to start right from the beginning every time you die was rough. Maybe player's gun could do more damage.
@adventureislands thanks for the feedback! I thought the less health you have to more damage you do, like sacrifice health for damage but my partner in the jam said maybe not, either way thanks for playing!
yeah, fun game! I like the sacrifice part that ends the game and i like the Half life atmosphere. I think its balanced and the controles feel nice. Sound is ok, music appropiate. Nice participation!
Hello, I hope you had a good game jam. This game looks amazing! The graphics are nice. I can't wait to see more games from you in the future. Keep up the good work! (:
I liked the vibe and the atmosphere, but I didn't notice anything to regenerate health and the gameplay wasn't compelling enough for me to keep trying.
@izi @juan-hust-novella thanks for playing and thanks for your feedback! :))
@joshanthony1990 thank you for your feed back :) means alot! next time ill take it into account :D
@toast-toaster the music was giving you vibes or the game? also thank you for taking to to criticize means alot it will help me in the future!
@nanocube75 The game itself wasn't giving me vibes, since Dead Bits has a ton of control issues that make me nauseous (yours didn't have those issues). It was just the fact the music doesn't really fit the tone that the visuals give me. I think that no music at all will add to the eerie setting.
@toast-toaster yeah i sorta thought that but my brother was into it so im not too sure, im on sorta both sides... but either way thanks for taking time to try our game!
Had a bunch of fun running around and shooting up the enemies, enjoyed the soundtrack, it fit well with the game!
@aj-jones thanks! glad you enjoyed :)
Do not bad. But first time when i start the game, i have some problem: i seen intro and die)) When i restart the game and skip intro, all was good and i can fight.
@darkdrake if you hit be sacrificed it automaticaly closes the game its meant to happen because your character dies anyways thanks for playing it!! :D
Haha, basic but fun game. Liked the textures! :D Reminded me of quake 1
This game is crazy!@ It's sooooo hard. I am surrounded on all sides in the first four seconds, and must learn to run or die. I memorized the pattern: turn left and sprint. Try to juke-dodge the two guys in the way and hopefully only take one hit. Kill the next two melee guys + gun guy in the hall and then jump down the pit before the conga line of ten dudes RIGHT ON MY TAIL kills me. No use fighting them.
Down the pit the battle is instant, so I hope you reloaded while falling, that was the most peaceful zero point seven seconds this game has! I hope you enjoyed. Now you have to tight-quarters pulse-strafe these two shooters right on your face while shooting them.
Phew, okay. Now you can breathe for a second. Or so I thought, the first time. How foolish! Actually you better get your ass in gear because all of those guys are about to respawn! I thought I would use the cover to "clear the area before moving in" but that is not in the spirit of this game. No careful pop-n-shoot then stroll through the park type situation here, just fucking pedal to the metal, full speed or die.
So now I sprint out and it's just not worth shooting any guys cuz they'll surround and respawn forever. Better just concentrate on shooting the generator while dodging everything, and look out for the deathpit.
It took me about twenty runs to get to that stage where I had it all memorized and was able to frantically clear the generator just barely.
Ohmygod. OK. Phew. I did it!
FINALLY a new area. Something different that I haven't played twenty times now.
And then I died, and it send me ALL THE WAY BACK>???!! I can't imagine doing four of these straight without dying, and so that's where I stopped.
Super-intense entry. I loved the crazy sci-fi weirdo alien textures and shapes on everything. I sort-of loved the high-octane deathmetal pacing, although it was borderline too much for me.
I would have played more if it didn't ship me back to the very start.
Really intense and unique entry. Looks like your first LD entry, and that's impressive to have something this potent. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next time.
Nice work.
@pkenney thats for your awesome review! sorry about it taking you back to the start i didnt have time to implament a way to tell if you've destroyed the first generator :P happy that you enjoyed though!
@kornel-meszaros thanks for playing! the textures remind me of quake too :))
A few comments on the presentation: - Consider not packing your game in a RAR file. Not everyone has access to a RAR unpacking tool. - Seriously be careful with updating the game after the jam. It's kind of unfair. If you found a serious problem, you can fix it, but it's polite to provide links to both old/new versions of the game, and to put a changelog on the page. - You included your git repository in the game's package. Not sure if that was intentional.
Those things aside...
... this game is LIT
I was not expecting a Quake-like game to appear on LD any time soon, and this was really good! Music was pumping, the visuals were _just right_, and it was pretty fun to play.
The intro cutscene was pretty good too! That's the kind of stuff that you usually don't get in a jam game.
Nice work!
@binaryspark thank you for your feed back! i was forced to update it and i couldnt provide the old version because the bug made it so after the start animation the game wouldnt start and the press e to skip wouldnt work either so it was impossible to play i updated it after 5 minutes when submission hour ended. i didnt realise the bug existed until i played it on a different computer because it worked perfectly on my computer :P hope that explains why i updated it and why i didnt provide a link to the old version :))
