I found the attack a little clunky, but the game itself runs smoothly. The UI needed a little more polishing to fit the nice graphics and audio, however it doesnt compromise the experience.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD43 → Crimson Chaos

@derek-volker Thanks for playing! I wasn't expecting anyone to play until I set up the page better. In fullscreen the UI tries to stick to the bottom left corner that's a bug I'm fixing. I'm worried about people not understanding how the attack works. If you don't mind me asking How long did take you to figure out the controls. Because I do believe the attack feels less clunky when you learn how It works but I didn't have enough time to set up a better tutorial. Thanks again :)
@frostbyte4k about a minute, after dying twice, then i could survive longer in the third and fourth gameplay. You really explained well saying to hold the left mouse button, but i guess as i am used to actions being triggered by just pressing the button i felt a little lost.
@derek-volker Thanks I really appreciate it :)
the controls are a little uncomfortable for me, i think it'd be better if the forward key moved you in the direction the player was facing. It took me a while to grasp the concept of it, but once i did it was a lot of fun to play. i really like your take on the theme, sacraficing health to fight back enemies. If there were more items and powerups you'd really have something, this is a really cool concept aside from any flaws, and i think you shouldn't leave it as a jam game, with more work, this could really be something ;)
@copperaardvarkgames Thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed :) powerups are a good idea if I do decide to keep running with the game I will keep that in mind.
The sword controls are a bit unconventional, but otherwise the movement is standard for top-down games. I think the movement toward the mouse would make escaping from tricky situations more difficult, but I appreciate the feedback I hadn't thought of trying anything of the sort.
Personally loved the game. Music track is awesome, attack is fun once you get the hang of it, and the balance between killing the enemy and killing yourself is well done
@borja Thank you so much, that means a lot.
Cool stuff! I got to Wave 7, had a fun time playing :)
The blood effect is really cool! Love shaking my mouse like a circle and draw the slash, cool feeeling~
@joker-v Thanks for playing. To make it sword feel cooler I made the camera slightly tilt toward the mouse giving a subtle sway when you turn which made the sword swing pop.
Fun game. I kept killing myself because I was just having fun playing like a whirlwind barbarian haha. Loved the audio as well. Nice entry!
@silvae Thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed and I appreciate the feedback.
A very nice game overall, well done! Besides some polishing of the mechanics and perhaps some more fitting UI, the game is great!
fun great job
Really liked the aesthetic and gameplay, the camera was a little disorienting at times, on the menu as well.
@eddie-li Thanks I didn't Have much time to work on the UI even though I sacrificed sleep(no pun intended) I still barely finished in time.
@nanocube75 Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed.
@aj-jones Sorry about the camera I was planning on adding a setting to turn off the angling towards the mouse But ran out of time. I hope it didn't subtract to much from your experience.
@frostbyte4k not at all, still really enjoyed it! just something i thought you might want to know!
Nice take on the theme. It took a bit to figure out the basic mechanics and best way to use them (for example doing a "blood sweep" but once I got the hang of it it was a cool new mechanic. I found myself not paying any attention to my meters when it actually mattered because I was so focused on timing my blood correctly to get a bunch at once.
@natethegreat I'm glad you stuck around long enough to figure it out. I was very worried people wouldn't be able to figure it out I'm glad to see that wasn't the case. Thanks for playing :)
@aj-jones Thanks I appreciate it. I'll be a bit more careful next ludum dare.
Very nice entry! I really enjoyed playing it. The mood and gameplay are amazing. Congratulations!
@theonethatneverwas Thank you very much I'm glad you enjoyed playing.
Anytime I got hit I couldn't move up/down anymore (still side to side). Interesting idea but I couldn't figure out if things were buggy or I was doing it wrong.
@jfraser314 Im sry I couldn't recreate the bug it normally works fine
@jfraser314 when you get hit it does reduce your movement but shouldn't remove it
I tried again and it worked fine as well, so not sure on that one. Must have been a pretty obscure bug (or I just forgot what keys I was pressing).
sooo buetiful game this move of camera <3 and effects
you can check our game if you want :P
The game controlled nicely and I really like the trailing effect you had for the weapon! Overall it had a nice atmosphere and an interesting take on the theme.
IF you continue to work on it I think it could become a very interesting game! Good entry!
@kantieno Thanks for playing. I flattered you and copperaardvarkgames think my game is good enough to continued to be worked on. I don't know if I'll continue to work on the game but I'll definitely consider it. Thank you very much.
