LD42 — Running out of space

Key Thieves by Thijs Tak 2018-08-14T11:05:37Z

I feel that you have the start of a very solid combat system, but there was minimal feedback, I didn't know if I had hit or not. The skeletons did not seem that competent either. I liked the smooth camera but a little bit more control would have been nice. I feel like 12 keys is quite a lot to expect a player to find, especially when there isn't really a method to track them down. With clues I think it could be good fun. Further development to clean up certain areas would improve on a strong base.

Desktop Defense by emkiusz 2018-08-14T10:39:04Z

I liked the idea of being capped on the amount of features to fit in with the theme. Level one and two were quite slow but level three had just enough enemies frequently enough to make it difficult and therefore fun.

@edgelord to start the game you should run the console app on the taskbar and press enter

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-14T11:36:04Z

8608! Not as good at this game as everyone else, but its really fun and is very polished. One of the few games I've reviewed so far to offer a lovely volume slide to stop myself from destroying my ears (occupational hazard when you play game jam games I suppose). Gameplay is fun, graphics great, sound effects good, not much to fault. Even more impressive to have built this in a day! I would say that sometimes I found it hard to differentiate the player from the shots, as there is not a huge colour/size difference. Other than that, great job!

Castle Crabers by Greet 2018-08-15T09:55:57Z

A more orginal idea, well executed, with great music! I liked the art, but i think the sea tiles and animation were really bold compared to the static sand, which sort of annoyed me as there was flashing around the edge. hope i explained that OK, only a minor problem though, was fun to play once i understood how to play!

The Last Data by Nelios 2018-08-14T22:31:34Z

Loved the graphics and audio. The levels were well made and I thought that the pipes that the corruption could travel through really added to the game, as they gave subtle hints as to where you needed to be at certain times so as not to be caught. The levels were well balanced, I never got stuck in a dead end thinking "where am i supposed to go", but i also found the levels challenging but rewarding to complete. Great Job. Also that screen before the title is just great.

SuperTHICC by huskitch 2018-08-14T12:32:37Z

Silly but fun parody of super hot, as it says on the tint. not much else to say.

Trophy Hunter by dasun 2018-08-14T12:23:13Z

Really fun idea, well executed with good graphics and decent sound. Could do with some background music, and I feel that the screen is in the wrong aspect ratio? when moving up and aiming down, your player is right at the top of the screen so you could easily walk into an enemy without seeing. If the game is going to be windowed and not fullscreen, it would make more sense to me if it was a bit squarer (more like 4:3). Great game, really fun to play and good difficulty progression.

Oh no! The sky is falling and we are still fighting a ridiculous balloon battle! by reizoukin 2018-08-14T10:51:07Z

Seemed a good idea, 15 turns each didn't allow us to reach each other, so we couldn't use the cannons at all. With a bit of balancing it could be a solid strategy game. (I would decrease the distance between players maybe?)

Crushed by comenoha 2018-08-14T23:09:55Z

Well built levels with interesting obstacles, good audio (although the background music was good, it was a bit repetitive). Nice art style and simple but fun gameplay. Not much else to say,

Orbiteer by BitPhinix 2018-08-14T22:12:45Z

Very pretty, responsive controls and fun game. Challenging to say the least, but a really good idea and it really tests your planning and execution. Nice audio and graphics too!

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-13T23:41:26Z

Enjoyed the gameplay, seemed to be well balanced so that I always had to be chopping. Loved the music and the cinematic intro. The graphics are done really well as well!

ACE by Hinkarn 2018-08-14T11:20:30Z

Although I'm not great at these types of games, this was fun, and well designed. The graphics and audio are good and the gameplay is fast but manageable. The highscore screen at the end is a nice touch also.

Space Out! by Wattumartti 2018-08-16T21:26:58Z

Really polished, fun, but could do with a few events (i understand the time limits affect this) to spice things up and stop it becoming too monotonous, but i found that there was enough expansion and growth going on at most times to keep me busy. A harder mode might be interesting to shorten games and increase the weight of decisions you make, sometimes i felt that the star bucks were too plentiful. Great graphics and sound!

Raft vs Shark by Batlordz 2018-08-14T11:13:24Z

Actually quite challenging and good fun to try and get a high score. Music and sound was good, but definitely on the loud side!! (dw I won't rate you down for that). Nice graphics and very impressive for a first game.

Airlock Gridlock by HYPRGLOO 2018-08-14T10:28:40Z

I like the idea and it was well executed. Suitable level scaling although if you played it safe there was not too much difficulty. I feel like a time limit would add to the pressure and therefore reward of winning. Great sound and solid graphics!

File Exchange by AGsilverAG 2018-08-14T22:59:16Z

Really great idea, enjoyed it with a friend, playing the way its supposed to be, and we had good fun. Really well made, liked the framerate health idea and thought it was well executed. A bit small in browser, but i know thats the unity thingy, happens for my game too. On the selection screen, I think it would be really cool that if you left out a selection, that would be left out of your screen (so similar to when blocks are copied across with the injector, but say the ice blocks aren't on your side if you dont select it). Just a thought. Really fun game! Edit: just realised i said really too many times

LD42 - GraveWorld by Azo 2018-08-14T07:59:51Z

@marcovalekaz Thanks for the feedback! I ran out of time for sound and menus, but I am going to update this in the next few days

LD42 - GraveWorld by Azo 2018-08-14T11:07:46Z

Thanks for all your feedback! I am going to work on a main menu, and make a game over and game won screen with a few stats on it. Music is in the works but I unfortunately ran out of time in the Jam.

LD42 - GraveWorld by Azo 2018-08-14T22:17:24Z

@jaydee thanks for the feedback! I will try and build the mood up when i put the music in. The circular movement was a problem from the start, but i think it means that a bit of practice goes a long way, and progression should keep players playing. (hopefully) @thijs-tak thanks! As mainly a programmer, I was very pleased with the graphics I put together for this one, and it's nice to see that people appreciate it. Audio in works, so should be more feedback for the ghosts in the future, I will make sure to differentiate the two events.

LD42 - GraveWorld by Azo 2018-08-15T10:46:36Z

@zessirb Yeah, the graves stop spawning at the moment because i was planning on having a better system to ramp up the difficulty, but ran out of time to implement it. End screen is in the works (planning on having time taken, points, points per min or similar), and moving attack animations is a good idea. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

Claustrophobic Cobra - Reverse Snake Action by Juno 2018-08-14T11:28:55Z

Fun little game, not overly original, but has responsive controls and menus. Not much to fault, might be more fun/difficult if the *cough* snake *cough* cobra grew longer as you got pips, similar to another game.

SnowOut! by DanielBarca 2018-08-14T23:19:10Z

Fun Game! I think the run animation on the player could do with some work, but I liked the art style and gameplay mechanics. Some feedback to show you have been hit apart from the health bar would be great. I think the tile bobbing is a great mechanic, as well as the player being responsible for running themselves out of space. I enjoyed playing. The music is good, and not too repetitive, which is very nice to see.

I found a bug where if you go off the edge and walk back towards a tile you get stuck and the enemies cannot hit you and you cannot die or get back up.

CowHerd - machine trained cows by oddstack 2018-08-14T22:13:07Z

Lovely graphics, ragdolls and machine learning all coupled with a basic mechanic that is hard to master? Yes please. Interesting project to play and read about. Great Job.

Running Out Of Spice by Raivk 2018-08-14T11:50:28Z

Best game from this jam I've played so far. Great humour, graphics, audio, fun gameplay, great UI and menu, not to mention GREAT SPICE. A couple of times my camera got set to a dodgy angle suddenly, but that was the only problem I had. Fun enough that I played for about half an hour before I wrote this, planning on playing more now!

Little Planet by PlanetGames 2018-08-15T10:12:07Z

Fun to play, think i got a bit behind the curve as i had barely any time between asteroids and still needed to build two turrets. Nice sound effects, decent graphics, sound idea. Nice stuff!

The Gargoyle Landing by BoopsGames 2018-08-14T22:48:09Z

Played for about 30 seconds and died. Played one round for about 10 minutes and racked up just under 200k points (is that decent?). Don't think i was doing it right, as i believe matching up the colours gives many more points than just pushing blocks off.

Didn't think that this was my type of game, but I really enjoyed the game, and the way that the two or three simple features combined into something quite complex and difficult. The difficulty ramped up so that i knew that i wouldnt be able to survive forever, yet there were enough lives that i could afford to make some mistakes. Decent audio, quite liked the art style. Solid game.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Something Magical by wasd 2020-04-21T17:10:51Z

Very satisfying, relaxing game. Loved all of it, very fun to play :)

Keep It Alive by danman9914 2020-04-22T16:32:40Z

WOW. An amazing game all round - well thought out and keeps the player on their toes. Coal was probably too generous, but otherwise really super!

Alien Intensive Care by Linky439 2020-04-21T20:25:39Z

One of the most fun submissions i've played yet. Might actually come back to finish this one, was really quite hard! just couldnt seem to stop the bleeding. Great job I really like this one.

Sweet Baby Boi by Phing 2020-04-21T16:26:17Z

Quirky art style, interesting take on the theme : ) well done

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-23T14:36:36Z

Dr. Noir by UnidayStudio 2020-04-21T20:15:09Z

Really nice graphics, fun gameplay and a nice idea. Great job!

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-04-22T15:51:31Z

Really great game! Amazing to have a leaderboard working, I loved the sound effects and music. Fun and easy controls, very satisfying to play and looks really good! Excellent job!

just realised I have ! at the end of all these sentences - you obviously got me excited

Up Hero Down Enemies by regisclaus 2020-04-25T19:52:21Z

Graphics were nice, great sound effects, a solid idea that fits the theme, all round a nice submission. Good Job!

Operation Asteroid by SvartTand 2020-04-23T11:37:14Z

Really liked this game! was very satisfying to play, the world looked amazing, as did the menus. A bit more polish (I know game jams don't really allow this) would take it to the next level, but this is a really solid submission anyway!

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-23T15:19:51Z

hHaha, really like this one, very nice graphics and fits the theme, missed the music the first time so loaded back up to rate, and i had to play for another few minutes. Great sound as well, all round a good submission. ps liked the quote at the end

Embers by Anuke 2020-04-22T16:17:36Z

Wow, really impressive for a game jam game! loved the art, sound, music, gameplay, all felt very satisfying.

Dart Attack by EternalXP 2020-04-24T18:27:33Z

Nice graphics, movement mechanic mixed with the defense was interesting but i found myself annoyed at times when my player got stuck on the heart or other objects. Overall very nice, really liked the art and particles :)

Wanted: Alive! by Dan Colman 2020-04-24T18:38:43Z

Really fun to play, very natural on a controller and the art style worked well. The sounds and music were really great too! Obviously a few more levels would be great but in a game jam thats not always possible. Good job!

The Sky Land by rk0307 2020-04-23T18:06:37Z

Very cool, Really liked how the new skills unlocked areas of the map. Nice clean graphics and once you get the hang of the player controller it feels very natural. Good Job

ROBOY by DoctorMozart 2020-04-21T16:41:43Z

Fun game, controls were confusing to begin with but some fun ideas and nice art :) good job

Deforestree by Azo 2020-04-21T16:42:56Z

@Lorwon There isn't a way to win, I guess I should have said that somewhere. The only objecive is to get the highest score possible.

Deforestree by Azo 2020-04-21T16:44:32Z

@wasd i LOVED something magical, was really fun to play and very relaxing. Ya, tree placement can be tactical to increase distance walked. Score is based predominantly on the number of trees you have, but the number of additional orcs increases a multiplier - so lots of trees and lots of orcs is the key to success

Deforestree by Azo 2020-04-21T16:44:45Z

thanks for all the feedback so far :)

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-23T19:52:14Z

really fun, still managed to give players good control over the basket while keeping it feeling realistic/physicsy. Great JOb!

Blazerunner by Raivk 2020-04-22T16:01:27Z

Wow! Awesome graphics, great music and sound effects, definitely the best looking and feeling menu I've seen in a game jam. There's not much wrong here, definitely recommend that people download this one and give it a go

Life of ITman by Bozont 2020-04-21T08:32:51Z

Nice music, art style and nicely fits the theme. Good job!

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-23T15:11:19Z

Fantastic art! Seemed a bit hard but i loved the humour and the variation in encounters. Again, the art is really what sets this above lots of text games, i think you did a great job!

Space Exodus by Kaish 2020-04-24T18:34:11Z

Really liked this submission, great sound effects and a really nice alternative take on mechanics. The art style is nice and consistent, i loved the layout as well. The sound effects were high quality which is obviously neccessary for this mechanic. Great Job!

DataHunter by A_ColtZz 2020-04-21T20:09:08Z

Great feel to the game, as well as great graphics and some nice auido. Good Job

Keep The Social Distance by DrSomma 2020-04-23T18:09:39Z

Its a nice idea and feels good to play, just a bit difficult to manage everyone but i suppose that is where the challenge comes from Good job!

Safe and Sound by Bank 2020-04-22T12:33:24Z

Very satisfying but simple, effective sounds and great movement. great job!

Protect the Sand-Worm! by Jofish 2020-04-22T16:09:37Z

Really liked this, seemed that it had the perfect complexity - nice surprise when the segments became damaged, and otherwise very polished. As others have said, controls take a while to get used to, but this is a really solid entry. Great Job!

Keep "IT" Alive by RoboDoig 2020-04-21T20:32:59Z

Obviously I need to get better at word games!! this was a simple but fun submission. great job!!

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-22T12:45:59Z

Really enjoyed this one, great art, sounds and satisfying animations. Great Job!

OwOrbit by AudreyC 2020-04-23T14:25:50Z

Very fun but simple, easy to get the hang of but hard to master. Great job!

The Last Flame by TortoiseGames 2020-04-21T17:09:42Z

Good fun game, could do with some tweaks, but that's not the main thing about game jams. This is a really solid submission great job!

Sourdough Finisher by instanti8 2020-04-23T14:57:10Z

Haha this really was great. I loaded it up expecting to play for a couple minutes, but the music kept me going and i managed to win the competition. Really fun!

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-23T15:07:02Z

Really great animations and art for Pit! Otherwise a fairly solid platformer rougelike. A little more work and some more features would go a long way, but we are all working under timed conditions in the game jam so i think this is a good submission. Good Job!

Type it alive by Adry 2020-04-22T12:36:59Z

Nice idea, not seen a tower defense typing game before. Great job!

Stubby Spaceman by ajrezendes 2020-04-24T17:54:32Z

For a first game/first jam I think you've done well, as you and others have said, more of the skeletons of a game than a full one, but it does feel like you could introduce a few small features after the jam to really bring it to life. Similarly to you, i was over ambitious in my first few jams so don't stress :) Good job

Keep Franko Alive by Reiqy 2020-04-22T12:42:59Z

Nice music, some really good pixel art, and very engaging. Its a trap!

Keep Fe Chicken by ARBEX 2020-04-21T08:41:27Z

Nice music, simple idea but led to good puzzles. I like the art style too. Good job!
