Hahaha....I love what you did with the theme. Spice-Space... Game itself is fun to play, a bit hard to cope with the depth and hitting the spices. Too often getting hit with the asteroids, but that´s my fault I guess. Great graphics.. love em.
i like the idea. this game is really good. the only problems for me are that i had problems seing the obstacles, and that the soundtrack is really short. but besides that, this game is amazing!
Wow, this game ! This amount of polish ! This MUSIC :heart: !! Ah et vous êtes Français non ? Bravo, vraiment, je suis très impressionné par les graphismes et la musique (qui motive à fond !). Le jeu est un peu dur et il est difficile parfois de ce situer dans l'espace (de savoir si on va rentrer dans un astéroïde ou non par exemple), mais après quelque essais on commence à prendre le coup de main :slight_smile:
Best game from this jam I've played so far. Great humour, graphics, audio, fun gameplay, great UI and menu, not to mention GREAT SPICE. A couple of times my camera got set to a dodgy angle suddenly, but that was the only problem I had. Fun enough that I played for about half an hour before I wrote this, planning on playing more now!
Fun game, with a touch of humor too. The aesthetic in general is super cool, and the sfx fit perfectly in the atmosphere. Can't really say the Ludum Dare theme is present, but it's still a really fun game to play for a while.
I wish there was some kind of level progression, so the player would learn the mechanics and controls smoothly, and sometimes there is too much visual clutter, and you can barely see what you are doing.
Wow production value is way over the top, good job. Graphics are awesome, soundfxs are great, the music is perfect for this kind of game and the controls are neat.
My only complains would be that 's it pretty difficult to gauge where you are in space, making it difficult to collect spice (combined with the hard to see meteors). Also the spice level seemed to go out REALLY too quick. I could barelly play for more than 10-15 seconds before dying on every playthrough.
Overall a really nice job !

On a pas eu le temps de faire suffisement de playtest.. il était trop facile lors de nos derniers tests, on a essayés de booster la difficulté, on est ptetre allés trop loin :o ! Mais merci encore, ça fait super plaisir de voir des français !
Wow! Best game i've played up untill now. Graphics are amazing, music fits. The only thing i'd change is the speed when you're low on spiciness. I've died plenty of times just in front of one of those spice capsules. And the gun feels kinda "just hold space". But overall, an amazing game!
@azo Yeaah thanks !! Oh the famous camera bug.. We did our best to fix it during the jam, and as we were almost sure it was fixed... IT CAME BACK (but a lot less often than before, hopefully). Thanks for the valuable feedback :D

Best intro screen ever, everything is great I don't know what to say which hasn't been said already, other than I really enjoyed this entry, and I Don't see an over all highscore so I can't boast about it, the highest one I remember was 14099!

This is so fun to play. I generally love neon optic and this game uses it perfect! The music is catchy as hell. The controll is a bit difficult at the beginning but after some deaths it went better. Nice job!
Looks and sound good. But nearly unreadable and thus unplayable. Too much effects make it impossible to see what is coming up (especially after collecting some spice), the camera is way too slow to catch up to the ship which also make it impossible to see what's in front of the ship. When the bar reaches 1/4 you loose so much speed that it's nearly impossible to reach a new container.
@thebmxeur thanks for the intersting feedback. We are definitely looking for this type of feedback that helps us get better ! We will for sure do something to increase the readability of our game, and we'll probably rework the spice level link with the spiceship speed for the post-ludum-dare update ;) Thanks again !
@raivk Maybe just keep the speed/inertia (it's in space after all) when you don't have spice and limit left/right movement speed ?
@thebmxeur yeah that could do the trick, we will definitely do some tests on that ! It will be less frustrating, definitely.

Lots of this has already been mentioned, here's my two cents:
* glowing particle effects? check! glowing powerups? check! glowing death mines? check! :thumbsup: * below a certain spice level you just can't come back, slowing down to a crawl is depressing :slight_frown: * _ludicrous spice speed_ :laughing: * I kept hitting things that were directly in front of the ship I didn't see, maybe smaller ship or give asteroids more visual contrast with background - the way the ship takes up more screen when going slower sort of works against the idea that going slower is easer :\ * similar thing with the blue afterburner trails, they look awesome but I can't see through them :sweat_smile: * Glowing mines are great, they're very obvious and every time I hit one I know it's my own mild spice pilot skills holding me back :smiley: * I missed a lot of shots with the cannon and eventually gave up since I couldn't reliably hit stuff in my path and it was easier to try to dodge. some kind of autotargeting maybe? * flavor text about how the spice's the limit, etc are very good

Hey @markopolodev ! That's a really, really good feedback ! Thank you so much ! We're really happy to see this ! Yep you're right, something is wrong with visibility ! We gave a lot for the look, and we may have went too far, making it more pretty than readable x) anyway ! You might have been hit by those pesky little invisible asteroids (BUT STILL DOING FULL DAMAGE !) (They're really really small, but still have the full collider). Bug fix is on the way ! Soon !

Just a heads up to say we are aware of a little bug, friend testers were getting hit by nothing, and in fact our level generator was sometimes spawning really tiny asteroids ! So we fixed it. Also fixed multiples collision, preventing them from happening (if you hit an asteroid, you want it to give only ONE instance of damage, not three or four !). Fixed asteroid material receiving incorrect lighting data too. To finish, we are aware of a bug with the linux version preventing it from launching the game. This version might fix it.

@wrenpirate oh you're on mac... Don't have a mac so I wasn't able to properly test it on it. Yep if your OS is old it might be it... sorry for the unability to launch the game :/ we'll look into it and pull a fix if we can.
Super cool visuals. Really digging the color scheme, the in-your-face UI, and the sense of speed when you get things going. The sounds and music are a great fit with the visual elements. I share similar sentiments about not being to see things directly in front of the ship or slowing down too much at low spice, but as a whole it didn't bother much. Good work all!

Wow ! That's the reaction when you open the game and see how polished it is. I don't see how that fits with the theme. Making great movements with the ship is a little difficult because of the camera position, maybe a narrower game zone would have been better, but anyway I think it's due to the fact that rail shooters are more about aiming and shooting that moving (like the genre name lets suppose). The gameplay is very simple, and not very innovative, but it's still funny. Let's come to the strong point of your game. Visuals effects are great, the UI is clean, and the meshes are simple but elegant. There is a real effort in sound design too. Even the menu is badass. And I didn't see any bugs during my play. So yes, it's helly polished. Great job ! :thumbsup:
Wow. Just wow, stellar graphics, great sound. Even the menu is gorgeous. Like others have said, it is hard to come back once you lose x amount speed. But I guess that is all the more reason to get that spice!

When I only saw the menu, I understnad it will awesome and I was right. Visual and audio are very polished. I really like so attention to details. Gameplay is very attractive. It carries you like a stream. I think you will take one of the first places in many categories. Good luck!
I had to remind myself during the intro that this is not a "SPACESHIP", it's a "SPICESHIP". The game is really fun and energetic. My only complaint is that the light direction makes it hard to see the rock since the look nearly as dark as the sky. Other than that, the visual effects look awesome and the sound effects are great. Awesome job.
Loved the game, would've liked a better camera because I felt like it was hard to see a lot of the time. Great funny take on the theme, but didn't incorporate much of it. Enjoyable game and very good looking!
very fun game, enjoyed the hell out of it! graphics and audio are 100% on point. the text that appears when you pick up spices was hilarious too! complimenti well done! maybe the only remark would be to also allow WASD to control the spaceship, other than that great job!!
The graphics alone caught my eye! This game has the right amount of bloom and the faint, dot-matrix style line effect really adds to the bright retro aesthetic. The gameplay is quite clever, requiring you to fly into the bright orbs to get the spice.
Not sure if the whole spice thing is a Dune reference, but it's a fun concept regardless.

A very well-developed game you have submitted here. I think the amount of asteroids could have been slightly reduced because dodging was extremely difficult while the ship was going from somewhat fast to super fast.
@BustosMan Thanks for the nice comment. Yeah you're right ! We already reduced the spawn rate before publishing (following some feedback from playtests), but it's still too high I think. It's definitely on the todo list for the post ludum dare version, we'll probably even add difficulty settings.
