It gets a bit too repetitive for a while, having more mechanics would be pretty nice. Industry also seems a bit OP, maybe make the cost higher?

The visuals are pretty great! The music is also pretty nice

the visuals are nice, i like that style, and the music is so atmosferic, it fits very well. Good job!

Great game, the graphics were fantastic, so is the music. The game was very well polished, reminded me of the type of games like mini metro. In my opinion though, this game better suited for the mobile market rather than PC due to its simplicity. It would make a great time killer, on the bus or waiting for someone/something. I can see the game being expanded much more, and that's a good quality. Many games have limited gameplay options that limit their expandability. There were some balance issues but those can be ignored due to the time constraints of this jam. It's hard to believe such a well polished game could be made within 3 days, since i've seen many more early access titles having less polish than this.

SpaceOut.png Good graphics, good music, procedurally generated gameplay. Should make a great mobile game.

As it is now the game is not really challenging. But the graphics and UI are gorgeous. Interresting job (I am also developing a game where the target is to link stars to each other. So it is good to see what other people are doing)

@lamossus I agree with you, I think especially Colony is very OP. We implemented the tech tree quite late and only started balancing the game in the last hours of the jam.. I'm just in midst doing my first proper play myself (having the game paused atm). Anyways, I'm still happy it's not too difficult so you can spend time looking at the pretty planets and listening to the BGM.

good game !

Very good game, with more time in development you could do something great with it!

Good Luck!

Great game. It's not too hard, very simple but attractive UI, graphics and audio.

This is brilliant! 🤩I really tight little simulationy game - BANG on theme, you really have put that idea of running out of habitable space at the centre of the game and the decisions the player makes - I really like the sense you get of building the galactic empire out into uncharted and uninhabited space in like a militaristic, osmotic kind of way - visuals are gorgeous, really liked the little Kurtzgesagty little planets and space bits :D

Excellent work!

You can consider the Mac version tested.

Very nice and super polished entry! This was my best run... spaceout.png

The look was very clean and interesting, some planets had that kurzgesagt wibe. My biggest graphical issue was the text scaling with the zooming which made zooming out far enough almost completely useless. The text size could have been the same regardless of the zoom level. As everything else was done with mouse, I think the panning should have also been. Like for example if you click and drag on the empty space or when you do it anywhere with right mouse button. I know there was that RTS style edge of the screen panning but it was awkward to use back in Warcraft 2 days and is still.

One other super minor thing was that the line/ship only appeared after you had already dragged to the destination planet. I think it should have started as soon as the player starts dragging. The line could have also represented if the target planet was in range to get rid of the need to drop it there and use that awkward dialog. It already showed if I had enough space bux to build there but it didn't update when I kept the line dragged to a planet waiting for my bux to accumulate.

As I've already stated, the UI looked cool but there were some placement/UX issues. First of all, those popup dialogs with are you sure and not enough cash could be removed completely in my opinion or at least make them able to be accepted with keyboard shortcuts. The tech thing had a similar issue. The following workflow isn't the best of designs UX wise:

- Click on a planet around the center of the screen. - Move mouse all the way to the right to pick a thing. - Move mouse to center to agree to building. - Move mouse back to right for using said building. - Guess what, back to center to pick a shuttle or agree or whatever. - And if you want to cancel at any point, the back button is all the way on the bottom left corner of the screen, as far as it possible can be.

I think the better way would have been to not rob away the map control, just center on the planet and show the building options somewhere near it. And the cancel button could be if you just click anywhere else than the use/build. And yeah, those agreement popups were unnecessary here too and if not enough resources, it's enough to just show that information, not require the player to interact on it. It also would have been nice to be able to pan the map when selecting where to evacuate. It resulted on some almost unsolvable situations when I could pick from whatever happened to be visible.

The cash, population and planet icon tooltips were also quite weirdly placed but that wasn't a huge issue because I only had to check them once.

Anyways, very good job! A great game that with some UX improvements and balancing fixes could be awesome.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!! The mechanics are great, the idea is well executed, the music is very apt, spot on the theme, and the game is just very fun all in all. I tested it on the MAC and did not notice any bugs. I love the idea of making my own galaxy through linking up the planets. Well done to the team for a great job done over very little time! I hope you continue to develop this game as I think it has potential to go far :)

Really polished, fun, but could do with a few events (i understand the time limits affect this) to spice things up and stop it becoming too monotonous, but i found that there was enough expansion and growth going on at most times to keep me busy. A harder mode might be interesting to shorten games and increase the weight of decisions you make, sometimes i felt that the star bucks were too plentiful. Great graphics and sound!

Absolutely amazing game! Completly astonished to see what you guys managed to set up in 3 days..!

sand-gardeners 2018-08-20 09:58

Well polished little game!

seconddimension 2018-08-21 20:24

I loved the flat design look of it, we did a game with a very similar look back in LD38 (we took a lot of inspiration from the Kurzgesagt videos). I liked the drag and drop to create spaceports, very elegant way of expanding. Great job overall, only thing I'd like is a bit more variety/depth to the gameplay, but that's understandable in a game jam setting.

This was fun and relaxing - a word I don't usually use to describe these sorts of mouse-driven simulation things. Hope you keep that same vibe even if you go back to add goals etc. Here's a video of my play and feedback: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298013495
