Great game!!! A throw the stone in the head of "Pau No C*" Jakob!!!! kkkkkkkkkkkk

untitled-studios 2022-04-04 02:34

Rad lil game- interesting central idea, pretty graphics & sound, and... LANGUAGE OPTIONS?!?!??! IN A COMPO GAME?!?!??!??!?!

milq 2022-04-04 02:44

Wow! Nice graphics! What tool did you use to generate the music? Thanks!

chaosround 2022-04-04 02:54

another great storytelling game, a message that the world ignores but needs to be spoken... congratulations...

jungle 2022-04-04 14:08

@milq I used https://ecrettmusic.com/ for IA generating music

defrag 2022-04-04 14:23

I'll echo the comments above: great graphics, nice meta-polish with the menus and language selection. This is a pretty different take on inevitability from what I've seen so far, which is going to help it stand out in peoples' mind. I think this is part of the experience you are going for, but it is uncomfortable being in a situation where there is no way to win. I saw two end conditions, neither of which felt "good".

smdg 2022-04-04 14:23

Really nice calm game

papaya 2022-04-04 14:30

Amazing graphics and cool music to fit the mood of the game. Also, I like the options to change language and sound settings. Well done! One thing that can be improved is to add a fast forward option to skip the dialog that the player already seen. Otherwise an amazing polished storytelling game.

eli-haun 2022-04-04 14:50

I like this! the art is GREAT, and the mood is (rightfully so) melancholy. I wish there was a way to make it faster, as after the first run (which is understandably short) I went at it again but had to wait through the same dialogue. But I'm just nit-picking. Great entry!

szym 2022-04-04 16:47

The art is just gorgeous ! The gameplay is pretty simple but it serve the story very well.

I had a little display issue on my macbook. The texts were very small & hard to read & I wasn't able to click the choices. Probably a UI scaling issue since macbooks have weird resolutions. maybe try scaling your canvas with screen size ?) But it displayed & played smoothly on PC.

Appart from that very nice & impressive for a compo. Great work ! :)

adamjn 2022-04-04 19:26

Jacob Did not care, And neither did I. I probably died in the quickest way, Nobody is taking my house!

cogcomp 2022-04-04 19:30

Beautiful graphics and a gripping story and it's quite different from all the other games. This is one that probably everyone will remember. Well done.

tentaclemax 2022-04-04 21:21

oh. my. god. great game, thank you!

delightfullymad 2022-04-04 23:45

A surprisingly deep story for a 2 day jam. very well done, I shan't soon forget this one

mdnr 2022-04-04 23:46

I generally don't expect game jam games to relate this much to real world issues. I have to commend you on using this opportunity to make such a meaningful game.

In terms of execution, it was really well done. The graphics were stunning. Having to watch Jacob slowly approach the house was increasingly unpleasant each day.

Thought provoking and good work!

zaza 2022-04-04 23:51

great art, nice storytelling and an important message, props for including 2 languages in such a short time! at first "vai tomar no cu jacob" made me laugh, but then it made me feel ;_;

simpathey 2022-04-05 02:27

Real solid narrative entry. The art really backed up the story! Made me feels.

jordyrg 2022-04-05 03:51

Really loved the graphics of the game, alongside with the audio, it really helps to set the tone. I'd like a option to increase the speed of the text, but that's minor. The theme and message of the game are an amazing way to interpret the theme, huge props for that!!

d00kl1 2022-04-05 04:35

Like most effective art, this too is disturbing; it sticks in one's consciousness.

What really set the tone (other than the top-notch visual art, music and narrative) was the exchange at the beginning between Jakob and Sameera. Both knew each other's names – unlike strangers, they are aware of the shared history that ties them to _their_ neighborhood.

Too real for the 'Delay the inevitable' theme.

jungle 2022-04-05 05:09

@d00kl1 exactly! No one has commented on this before, but the fact that the characters know each other's names already shows that they know each other and have some previous history. I'm glad you noticed that.

sirikan 2022-04-05 05:35

Really great music and graphics. Very impressive for 2 days.

larsdu 2022-04-05 06:49

Very polished, and it hits the theme real hard. Very nice job!

squimmy 2022-04-05 07:32

This is strikingly good artwork for such a tight schedule.

Unfortunately, when i played it, there was a blue rectangle over the dialog options so they were hard to click on and a few lines into the game the rectangle covered all the dialog options so I couldn't click on any at all and got stuck.

What I was able to play was interesting, but it would have been easier to read with a larger font size, and much less fiddly if I didn't have to click on a little `X` to progress the dialog.

The story was interesting enough that I read through the source code to see how it unfolds, but I would have loved to have been able to see it unfold together with the amazing artwork you put it with.

I don't know if you plan to fix the bug I encountered that stopped me from finishing the game, but I've included a screenshot of it. I was using Firefox on macOS High Sierra. スクリーンショット 2022-04-05 16.23.25.png

lakea 2022-04-05 08:17

A neat little game.

jungle 2022-04-05 12:59

@squimmy seems like Mac users are experiencing rescale problems. I'll try to fix it but I confess I really don't know what is happening since I've used UI rescale by size scripts. I'm really sorry for that.

wetburritosupreme 2022-04-05 14:53

What an impactful and worthwhile game, for a game jam too. Delay the inevitable really incapsulated well with this experience.

goat 2022-04-05 15:25

Amazing art style and sound design. I loved the filter over the entire game, The dialogue was really well written

josh-bothun 2022-04-05 18:13

Breathtaking art style and really polished looking for a jam. The game is pretty direct with its message but I think that works well for this. Nice work!

kristinamay 2022-04-05 20:06

Beautiful art - a small but really well-executed game. I've really liked, as I've been playing these games, how frequently keeping the theme in mind is casting a bleak shadow over the game itself. Thanks for making this, really impressive compo game.

fupi 2022-04-05 21:16

Simplesmente foda.

castitatis 2022-04-05 22:51

Amazing artwork, the graphics, the music, the story telling, everything is top notch! It's a bit weird to play that game after so many games based on humour :D

Amazing game!

jungle 2022-04-05 23:42

@fupi sim, eu vi algumas pessoas falando sobre essa questão de pular os diálogos, vou pensar nisso qnd fizer o algoritmo do próximo jogo de narrativa. Obrigado pelo feedback, que bom que vc gostou.

macabreartgames 2022-04-06 01:14

Telling a fact with a game is good idea really. I read all dialogues and enjoyed. Executed well!

pierce-brooks 2022-04-06 03:36

Absolutely marvellous! This should win all the gold medals!

jungle 2022-04-06 03:46

@pierce-brooks wowww, you're been kind. ahhahaha. Thanks a lot, glad you like it!

pierce-brooks 2022-04-06 03:56

@jungle On your itch.io page, there is a visual novel called "111" that I cannot figure out the controls in. Do you have any quick tips for that? I am looking forward to digging into the rest of your library soon!

jungle 2022-04-06 04:07

@pierce-brooks ohhh, I think that game is only available in portuguese language. Tells a history about a bunch of young boys that went to celebrate first job of one of them, and then... Brazilian police kill them all with 111 gun shots. They "thought" they were bandits.

By the way, this itch.io page is to outdated... sorry for that

pierce-brooks 2022-04-06 04:19

@jungle the subject you pick for your games is just excellent. I do have a friend who can speak Portuguese, perhaps they will be able to help out! All I have been able to do is move around so far :)

jungle 2022-04-06 04:34

@pierce-brooks I've just add you on Facebook. I will see if I still have 111 project and, if so, make a build in english. I really dont know what happened with itchio build, I've downloaded here and got stuck in the same problem. Lets talk in FB.

krg 2022-04-06 07:01

what a concept for a game, salute

etrealjunior 2022-04-06 15:01

Congratulations on the game, working impactful stories with multiple choices is always a great request, very good graphics, a great entry, if you can give your feedback in my game I will also be very happy a big hug.

minibobbo 2022-04-06 16:28

Great mood and well done tackling a heavy topic in a jam game.

I'm honestly a little stumped on how to rate it. It definitely wasn't fun, but that is sort of the point. There is nothing fun about it. Excellent mood and the graphics do a great job conveying everything we need to know as players.

judgezedd 2022-04-06 17:25

Sort-of feels wrong ranking this highly in 'Fun', since it isn't... fun, is it? But it's so well made. Good job.

pierce-brooks 2022-04-06 17:31

@jungle that is so kind of you! Thanks so much :D

jungle 2022-04-06 18:29

@minibobbo @judgezedd there is no problem to give low rating in Fun, my games generally aren't Fun. There is no option to remove Fun category.

lesinvisible 2022-04-06 19:14

Very impressive art-style for a Compo game (aside from front view of the rooftop everything looks as amazing pixel-art realism). Music is minimalistic but it suits well this moody atmosphere. My only wish is that the writing could be a bit more refined for such serious game topic.

blooobird 2022-04-08 13:34

Im at a loss of words almost, the mood is incredible and the art aswell. You truly made a great experience and it's encouraging to se someone bring up such recent controversial events. Well done!

devzhrssh 2022-04-10 08:16

Loved the game! very cool graphics!

nyxkn 2022-04-12 08:32

Wow what a beautiful entry. Really immersive experience. Thanks for this. The art is beautiful, and the music fits really nicely as well. Great presentation! Nothing bad to say about this. Even the menu looks really polished. Maybe I thought the sound effect for the buttons was a little out of place compare to the style of everything else, but that's just nitpicking.

amastryukov 2022-04-13 12:12

Gritty entry. I had thought you could have done more but when I saw it was a compo, I was impressed with the quality. I think you are still allowed to fix fullscreen issues post-jam, so I would suggest that. Otherwise, the graphics are top notch, the music is fitting and the message and mood are solid.
