I liked how this game took a basic mechanic and used it to introduce some lore strewn about. Definitely feels like one level of a possible multi-level experience with more story and more ways to translate, but I think this is a great start. Good work! Oh, and I wanted to add that it feels very polished, so great work on that as well!

I like the basic concept, it was interesting. I think you could turn it into something pretty cool with some more variation. The only thing I would criticize is that it does feel like a bit of a chore, since the scanning/translating is completely automatic. Would have been cool to introduce some little minigames you need to complete in order to succeed, like the skyrim lockpicking mechanic.
Nice entry!

the best thing is how gameplay itself reveals the lore. i agree that a deciphering minigame would be very fitting in a full game. when playing, i was thinking about a short story "The Gold-Bug" by Edgar Allan Poe where the main character deciphers a text looking at how frequent the character occurs in the text. just my associations :D

@kristinamay thank you for trying out my game!! i was wanting to do something with a conlang & lore before the theme came out - so fleshing out the translating and story more is what i wanna do too

@ioana thank you for your comment!! having a translating minigame would be cool - i was thinking it could get boring after a while as it is right now. definitely something i'll be thinking about

@wakanake that short story sounds like a pretty spot on association haha - i really wanted to have the lore as a part of gameplay, trying to strike the right balance was hard for me - i actually thought the lore was too expository at times
