But it was a fun game, it took me 15 minutes, but I managed to fly out of the background image boundaries, I now know that your background colo ris white. :smile:

In terms of feedback, despite the time constraints that come with taking part in the compo event, I would encourage adding a tutorial. Not only can it be daunting and discouraging to be greeted by a barrage of icons and graphics immediately upon starting a game, but it can prevent situations like mine where I didn't realize the "person limit" until too late and had to start over to unlock the miner.
Also, I found that, since it's technically possible to "win" the game, there wasn't really a "delay the inevitable" aspect to it.
That, however, is a very minor nitpick that doesn't really relate to the quality of the gameplay itself. Speaking of this, did I mention the gameplay is near perfect? :D The balancing, game feel, etc... everything is done extremely well. Easily the best game I've played in the jam so far. Great job!!!
really well done game all over. looking at the other comments, looks like everything has been said already. Does seem to be a 'I win' state were you run out of upgrades, are collecting fruit faster then you need to spend it and the birds [almost] all die before they get to your fruit. So at least you could go for a very long time depending on if the enemy spawn rate keeps increasing.
Given the limited upgrades, it would have been nice to be able to dismiss or change a unit to a different type. you eventually don't need anything except gunners and gatherers, yet you have people still mining away for resources that you can't use anymore.
Shot myself in the foot by getting too many pickers, but great concept!
First off the music is bumping; it has no right being that good. Game was fun, I thought I messed up by having 5 peons and 2 guards, but it turned out to be alright. I was at max height with 50+ apples in storage so I let the island crash after 10 minutes.

Wow! What wonderful art! I can't believe you finished this so quickly! Seems to work great, though I did feel like when I got the Engine upgrade the game had become "beaten" (and that there no longer was an inevitable crash).
Also, it seems like the gun sound effects were getting louder and louder as time went on, which is a weird bug.

I'll admit, I eventually got a bit bored after the 20-minute mark to the point where I let the island fall after hitting 30 minutes since I already maxed out the upgrades. It adheres to the theme well, but it feels like there's no way of actually defying the theme. But it's still a great game! The music and the sound are also good!
Great game, I love this type of game and a perfectly fitting graphic style to go with it. Really enjoyed playing it and trying different strategies for recruiting, of course stone and iron always end up being a bit unnecessary. Great work.
Cool game! The pixel art is super nice! The game mechanics are nice and easy to understand. My only complaint would be music getting a bit repetitive after a while. Anyway, it was fun to play.

Amazing artwork, super addicting gameplay and overall a solid game. Found myself reaching as high as possible after completing all the upgrades because everything just feels so satisfying. Great work!
To be honest, it's not that hard to stay afloat despite the dangers. I guess the inevitable wasn't falling but rising instead (exactly as the name implies). Nonetheless, it is fun to play.
Definitely an cool little idle game! Could be interesting to have the number of enemies increase overtime to make falling truly invitable and to add a greater incentive for getting upgrades, currently just a few peons are enough to keep afloat.
My favourite entry played so far :) Top graphics, satisfying gameplay.

Wow great work! I think the early game is really well balanced and enjoyed achieving sustainability on my little floating island. I think the art and music is great and the whole thing came together amazingly well within 48 hours! My only feedback for future iterations would be a tougher difficulty ramp later game and maybe some more upgrades as well. Really well done though!

I reaaaally like the concept. I reaaaallly love the pixel art. The sounds, the music, everything is really a high level of skill.
But, the game lack a bit of shandification : I know that's a bit complicated, but there are some questions which are without answer : what happens before we come on the island, I mean, there is a flying island, and no one inside, and it's flying, then just after, you need to recrut people to make it fly ? There is a flying rock aside of the island, and how it is flying ? There are balloon on the island, but on this one ?
If it's everything wrong we can say about your game, this is a very good news xD !
This looks a little bit like a clicker, but of course the "end" come really quickly, but as a concept, it's really good, I have been seducted ! It's a Five Stars in almost every categories !
Really cool game. I like resource management, the nice pixel graphics, the cute scene on this flying town... But I couldn't find a way to remove citizens, so I couldn't get a flying miner. At least, my people were safe and we had enough food to keep ourselves flying high, but I couldn't add the flying miner.
Neet idea, liked the design of the island and the characters. Would liked to have seen more variety and options. So far, it seems that I'm in no danger of losing almost no matter what I try, as long as I can gather 10 apples quickly enough. Hope you extend this concept with more units, upgrades and enemies.
Awesome game! I wish I could get rid of villagers as in my first run I didn't realize I should've gotten some miners as well. But I was able to keep afloat quite a while wondering what to do next, until I made it to the top. So it didn't feel like much of a challange. (5 peons, 2 guards)

Идея тоже офигенная, жаль мало времени, прям вижу, как это развивается в совмещение градостроительной стратегии с менеджментом ресурсов с дефенсом каким-нибудь. А на то, как город летит и отбивается от летающих тварей, можно накрутить нарратива. Вдохновляет!
Задался вопросом, как быть, если достиг сапплайблока, и при этом не закупил шахтёров - проигрышный вариант, и остаётся только перезапустить. Я так хотел скинуть лишнего рабочего с города вниз :D

It's easy to spend a lot of time with the game. I had to restart since I kinda Fed up and did get any miners. Graphics are nice, music less so. With more features, this game could get a lot of time out of me lol.
Beautiful pixel art! This game is amazing as a compo entry! It was quite fun to play. My only suggestion for improvement is to end the game somehow, either make the island eventually fall, or declare victory once the player gets into a steady state and could permanently keep their island flying.
I really enjoyed how intuitive this was to play -- a simple concept that was very well executed. It didn't feel like it was exactly possible to lose, or like there was any delaying of the inevitable, but I still enjoyed playing through till the 'end' :) Great job!
This is a very cool game. I passed the second time, because the first time I created 5 workers and 2 shooters, and that's it, people ran out for a further upgrade.

Yeah as a victim of 5 gatherer 2 guard combo I can assure you **invest in miners** & you're good to go, I have risen up 'til the white void it was awesome definitely have room for a bit more challenge n upgrades but it was a spectacular compo entry, huge congrats!
It was just awesome... Such nice graphics and alone, so also in 2 days... This is really amazing for me, considering what mediocre games I touched, which were made by as many as 8 people... And the gameplay is pleasant, although the balance, as it seems to me, is too simple. But there is no matching theme. To match it, you could add that the longer the game time, the faster you fall. It was also fun to understand different mechanics in the game, like it turns out that one Musketeer is not useless, because the crows do not move away, but retain their HP when they fly away. Thank you for such a pleasant gaming experience).

That was fun, i'm a sucker for nice pixel art and flying islands, very cool! It would be awesome if rising to the top actually ends the game with a win screen, so it feels like a completed attempt.

This is a delightful little game. It's really fun watching your little peons going back and forth. Lovely pixel art and the gunshot particle effects look great.

I loved this game! Super fun with a really cool concept and design. My only flaw is a quickly reached late game where i could just fly off the map. Other than that loved it and great submission.
This is def one of my favourites! Right up my alley! :D I forgot to be mindful about how many people I'm allowed to have so I got stuck pretty early the first time. Would love to have an opportunity to "send away" a person in order to unlock a spot for another type of person.
very pretty, nice mechanics and promising game; but needs some serious balancing and more opposing mechanics than float and birds, since they're both pretty easy to avoid. also, some way to reinvest and change out your workers?

Perfect score for style, gameplay's simple but fun, although "the inevitable" might be a little less than advertised considering I reached high enough to escape the background graphics. Great use of the theme, lots of directions to take this post-jam, all in all a great entry and I had a great time, good job
This was way more fun than I expected. Graphics are phenomenal and gameplay is amazing! Although a little easy for my taste, as it was quite easy to cheese spamming "balloon up" at one point, over and over again. But that's no big deal, it's a game jam, so naturally you can't balance it properly. I still had a lot of fun with this original idea! :)
The only thing I would mention is that it would be good if you were able to delete your people. For example, in my instance, I made 7/7, 4 peons and 3 guards. Then I did not have space for miners, therefore I was not able to upgrade my castle to buy more miners. A bit of a magic circle haha. But I guess that one is on me, as I should have managed my people better.

Минусы: - в конце не хватает хорошей или плохой концовки. В итоге игру бросаешь сам, зная что осталось жать топливо по КД. - стрелки в начале бесполезные)

this was really fun! i love the visuals and animation. in my first run i didn't even realize i could refill the balloons with apple gas and died quite quickly. in my second run i tried to run a bare minimum ship with just two apple peons, and made it like 4 minutes.
in my final run, i believe i beat the game. i rushed the propeller with 3 peons, 1 miner, and 2 iron miners. after getting the propeller, i got a gunman, and spent the extra iron and stone i was accumulating on castle upgrade, although i don't think that was necessary, as it felt sustainable even with just the three peons.
however, with the upgrades, i bought a couple more fighters, and filled the rest with peons, and at that point, i could sustain the balloons well over the drain rate. iron and stone continued to accumulate pointlessly.
i think using an exponential curve for the balloon drain rate would have added a sense of urgency, and inevitability, since it would eventually become impossible to keep up with. but it felt satisfying to know that i reached the point where i could keep my adorable little islanders alive forever.

Really interesting idea, and the art looks very good. Was fun but after a certain point, I feel like I spent more of my time waiting than making interesting decisions.
I like the games art style !! Love the resource management gameplay of the game. The sound of obtaining resource and shooting evil birds is just an ASMR by itself.
Though after a certain point, i notice that the timer won't go above 59:59.
