Ha ha, that bird is extremely useless for fighting but awesome for flight (obviously).
Very cool game mechanics! Great theme interpretation.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD35 → Green Knight

Very cool game mechanics! Great theme interpretation.
This was entertaining. The bird was a little OP for the platforming part, you could mostly just fly past everything and not deal with the enemies.
I couldn't figure out how to kill the wizard at the end though, nothing seemed to hit him? I had been super hoping that you needed to have him throw his "fireball" thing at one of the chandeliers and have it drop on him.
I love the bird and the art and music are really great. Great job!
How do I beat the boss ? :(
I did really liked the game.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
SPOILER*
try attacking the chandeliers with the bird. The bird can attack too.
*SPOILER
This is a great concept! I got really into this, trying to fly away from the bat was intense! I love how the prevalence of slime enemies really seems to emphasise the limitations of being unable to fly when human, despite being able to fight: slime makes it quite hard to get around, which makes sense!
The biggest flaw was that the bats were almost useless. Because they didn't do much, you can fly past most things pretty easily.
I did like the fact that you don't control the shape-shift.
On the wizard fight I died AND killed him at the same time twice :(
This an enjoyable game, though the controls and handling are a bit odd
DAT MOMENT WHEN I WAS NEAR THE END AND THE DANG KNIGHT SHOWED UP! Fell to an unceremonious death. Nice game :D
nice interpretation of the theme, the only game I seen so far in which the player does transform but it's not his decision.
good job
Great job :)
Cool idea in the mechanic, i really like that it's on a timer rather than a command. Sprites look good, especially for 48h.
Biggest gripe are controls and their responsiveness.
The flappy bird style mechanic put a smile on my face, it was unexpected.
really nice, I like the Joust style bird mechaninc.
damn bat. lol. good game. I'm a big fan of the green night (fiction). ...so this was entertaining.
Pretty good action platformer, the bird was difficult to fight with but could fly so there was some balance.
The bird picking is awesome! :)
Controls were a bit heavy, and hitboxes during fighting occasionally made me rage, but I otherwise had fun playing your entry.
The core idea is pretty funny and interesting, and the knight attack animation is well done. Though I prefer killing enemies by picking at them with the bird form :-D
Good player animation.
Just felt a little lost with hits in monsters. Maybe a little animation there will do the difference.
Good game to play.
I really love the sprites you've made. If you keep working on this, I would look into allowing the player to attack while moving and having the player and enemies visibly react to getting hit, so players are more aware of the current state of things.
Great work!
Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description
Good job on the art and the overall level design :) but i felt that the shape shifting taking place on its own without the players control is unfair to the player.. and also creates an imbalance in the game. But over all with the different enemies and everthing good job.
The game could have been better with the freedom given to the player to shape shift with interesting puzzles.. :D idk I fell so, but overall great game and all the best mate :)
I really like the idea and I love this graphics. The controls are very hard. Good work!!
Nice game, I like the random shift and the plot. the bird anime is quite cool too.
And another shapeshifting platformer. Granted, this one uses involuntary shapeshifting rather than player-controlled, which is a bit of a change.
That aside, the gameplay was somewhat solid, though perhaps not quite smooth. The graphics and audiovisuals weren't great, but worked well enough. I'd have liked some indication about how much health I've got, though, sometimes it's hard to tell if the enemy chipped a bit away or not.
Also, I completed the boss battle. Yay.
Good Game! I enjoyed the pixel art graphics and the animations. Good Idea to don't leave the choice of shapeshifting to the player. I found however the control maybe a little too rigid and a little UI (for life counter) could have enhanced the whole feeling. But awesome work ! Good job
The sword's attacking range was absolutely slow and terrible so most of the time I pretty much ended up waiting to transform into bird form and just fly to the end, avoiding combat. The involuntary shapeshifting is a nice twist although it could use some more visual cues (Also the solution to the boss battle was rather clever albeit a bit cliche).
Outmaneuvering the bats is pretty intense and the graphics are spot-on. I felt the music was a bit too repetitive. Overall very nice, though.
The mechanic of gameplay was good. But as a bird, you can skip all a level pretty easily, and the hitbox of the knight's sword is litt-le.
But the idea was good. The music does his jobs. And the graphisms are very beautiful ;)
I love the Knight/Bird character (the bird is absolutely adorable). Very interesting mechanic swapping between the two. Also the environment was wonderfully done.
Art is nice, but the bats seemed pretty hard to hit... if they were supposed to be hit. I would enjoy juicier sounds and gameplay!
haha that bird looks like a little kiwi! :D (but with wings) Nice game. The idea that you can't control the shapeshift make it more enjoyable. I liked the graphics of the character, but I think the background doesn't fit well with it. Maybe you could use a different color palette?. It was fun to kill the wizard that way :D Nice game!
Bird is OP! :D As the knight, he moves a bit too awkwardly and has too little HP to be helpful. I just waited until bird mode before flying across the levels as fast as possible, pecking eyeballs as needed. Wizard fight was awesome, however.
