Wow! Very fun game!
Very nice! A very solid base for a game. It felt good to play.
I was surprised to see that you could damage and break the bookcases to walk through them. It felt good seeing that I could do that.
There are two major things I think you could have done to greatly improve this, without needing to spend _too_ much time: - Better music. Sorry, it was just too repetitive. It got tiring to listen to after less than a minute. It was easy to tell the beat at least, so I'll give you that. - Increasing difficulty over time, or difficulty in general. Once I found the shotgun, I was effectively invincible. I wasn't going to die unless I simply stopped playing. I lost interest at that point, because the high score becomes meaningless as a measure of skill. I feel an easy way to solve this is to ramp up the difficulty as the game goes on, such as by increasing the amount of enemies being spawned, increasing their speed or health, etc. Easy to implement, and fixes that problem.
This game is a lot of fun!
As Crypt of The Necrodancer shows us, music goes with anything
I got to around 7500 points with 3/4 of my health, at which point I decided that I was invincible.
The game feels pretty solid, but it could use a little more flavor. Better music and difficulty, more variety, and this could be really cool.
Also, I found that I could just kind of walk out of the house into nothingness. Is that intentional?
Fun game, I just couldn't keep to the beat when playing! :)
I think the one difficult part of this was, there was no beat indicator to let me know when I could move.. And the one easy part was, the game doesn't have (or much of) a delay penalty for hitting out of beat... so I could just mash the button
This game is actually really fun! The beat mechanic could use some work, or the song could be changed, but other than that it played really well and was quite satisfying.
Loved the hotliane Miami feel mixed with Rythm. Just needs better music (hard to get this on a Jam) and some more content and it would be a nice full mini-game.
Really enjoyed the feel. I really liked the audio and the beat - got really really hard fast, but that's not a bad thing.
After dying and restarting, the music was playing 2 times. In my opinion it's not clear enough if i need to follow the music and if so, which beats are considered for the game.
For some reason I couldn't get the beat to play. :/
Like others have mentioned this is reminiscent of Crypt of the Necrodancer. I liked playing this quite a bit :) I like the added layer of hand/hand coordination to time shooting and moving at the same time.
If you had added a couple levels/objectives or a scaling difficulty I think you'd have a very solid complete experience :) As it is I wound up getting god-mode after the shotgun.
Overall great work! :D
Great game, totally enjoyed playing. There were some performance issues that naturally affected the game rhythm, and I just wish there was some final goal for the game, but it was still a fun to play. Oh, and I absolutely love the logo. Great first submission, keep it up!
