First time round I blinked and my plant was dead. Great little game, although I had to mute it as the music was a bit overpowering.
Awesome game, well done Marco!
Neat little game with nice graphics, although its hard to tell what things are which takes away a bit of the fun.
My kids will be playing this later, I know they will love it. Great work at an educational title.
Love this game. But then I am a sucker for crafting games. I would have probably played all day, but for some reason the game froze. The walls were a little too easy to break also. Good work.
Very polished for only 48 hours!
Didnt know if I wanted to watch! Quite a funny little game.
Great setting, love the graphics. Would like to see where this one could be taken as with more goals it would be more fun.
Great, fun take on a mining game. Love to see where this could be taken. Good work (excuse the pun!)
This game, whilst short, shows a lot of potential for future builds. Great idea, keep working on it!
Also got project not shared error. Look forward to hopefully being able to play it.
Neat little platformer, very polished in places, I did keep getting stuck on the first drop following the button, for some reason, if getting too close to the wall? otherwise overall a great game. Love it.
Would have loved to play more but it didnt seem to be very easy to get over the lava pool? will vote again if fixed.
Great game. Even more so after I realised you could HOLD to shoot. Would be cool if the asteroids also did damage to the space station.
Echo regarding ambitious. The game overall looks great, great intro and had it perhaps even just had one working temple it would have been quite fun to play. Theres no reason why it couldnt be turned into a mini series, where you take on one temple in each version and it all ties in.
Keep at it, as its got the makings of something good.
Great looking game, needs more work on how to play and I think the levels need more of a progression, seemed to get too confusing too quickly. Keep up the good work!
Oh. Thats odd, that trial worked perfectly before, I probably broke it in the final mad dash lol. Will take a look and reupload :) Thank you for trying it.
You can "from the menu" press the numbers 1 to 7 to get straight to each trial. Or numpad 1 to 7 also.
Thanks for the feedback, now the competition deadline has been met I will endeavour to release an update.
... also the game is best played in Chrome for anyone else looking to play :)
IF you get stuck at the choosing the 5 items trial you can also press space when it says click. :)
NEW WEB VERSION NOW UPLOADED! The choices trial should now be fixed :)
NEW "OTHER FORMAT" VERSIONS NOW UPLOADED!.. also.
hey Martin thanks for your comments :)whoops! The block stacking was made quite a lot easier. Plus it does ask if you would like help ;) or indeed to give up.
LOL @ horror games. Now you point that out then yes. Although the message isnt initially about the seven deadly sins, its only IF they get through the game that they will realise.
I will give the description some more thought as it was rushed along. Thanks again. Appreciate it :)
Thank you, yes the box stacking could have a game all of its own to be fair :D I'll be revisiting it as soon as I can to relook at difficulty. I did get my two to play it both 6/7 and they found it quite difficult, just a shame I was restricted by time.
Looks good. Would like to see more added to it, most definitely as that would make it more fun to play.
Emulates the danger of mines quite well, by making you cautious. Great game. Personally, I think the mines explosion is enough, without the detached limbs.
Great looking game, let down by the double spikes on the slant. There's hard, and then there's too hard and so early on in the game too. Would have loved to play further :)
Great little Infection sim, would be great if you decide to take this further. Possibly add more clues to detection? or even special scene tools.
Great little game. LOL was playing it for ages not realising there was wasd move, with just the grapple lol. Teaches me not to read the instructions! Love the graphics.
Nom Nom, Nom Nom, Nom Nom, Nom Nom. Great simulation just for that reason alone lol!
Neat spin on 2048, would be cool to have them turn into different monster types when they merge.
Only got 4 chests lol. Great little quick-based dungeon game :)
The greatest interpretation of the theme I've come across! Great work =D
Nicely done little board game! Get this ported to tablets :)
Quite a unique air about it, like it.
Wow. Love this entry, and has so much potential. Great job!
Great work. Simple to play and nicely polished, this would suit mobile devices to a tee.
Wow great execution of such a simple idea. Although I absolutely suck at juggling both in real life and now in a game too =D
Awesome represention of arena combat. Great job. I can forgive the iffy controls, just. =D
Awesome, made it to rule #9 also. Great idea :D
There is Snow doubt this is a neat game, great work for less than 48 hours =) could make a neat multiplayer game on a tablet if you had another snowman moving the other way :D
Hi thanks to all the comments / votes. So wish I'd had more time to make it a lot more polished. You drag your counter, the one with the U on it, to interact with the buildings, such as the house, shop and work. Plus you can also drag food / water to interact with things also.
The main premise for the game is for people to discover, which is why I opted for little in the way of tutorial etc, but future versions, I will give this some thought :)
Thank you all for playing it and for the kind comments / feedback. Absorbed and duly noted :)
Yeah good point could probably lose the karma bar actually. Was supposed to affect the outcome of your legacy etc but I guess its superfluous. :)
Again later versions I'd like to explore aspects like socialising etc and more vital stats to manage. I just need to figure out a way of doing so without crowding the screen even more than it is :)
They are technically supposed to go hunt for food and water but there seems to be a few economical issues. Shall have to work on a new version once the compo is over.
Thank you yes the initial plan was to see how long you could carry your legacy on for through pro-creation. I've actually done away with the karma bar, but not entirely, the player ultimately may or may not know if they're doing good or bad, but their legacy will inevitably reflect that or the direction their game takes.
I realised soon in that the game idea I thought was simple, actually wasn't so much so.
I opted out of the graphics @FerraWare as I'm not the greatest artist and felt the majority would likely not see it as I hoped :)
I've got a few ideas to revamp and create a second version.
A tutorial will definitely be present even if it merely introduces certain aspects as you go, the first time round. Relaxing music, added to the list :)
Thank you for all the great feedback.
I've done a 1st retake... which can be played at http://gamejolt.com/games/strategy-sim/a-game-of-life/41499/ - this is closer to how I envisaged.
Thanks everybody, the feedback provided has been immense. I definitely prefer not to hand-hold the player too much, although realise I needed a small fraction to better explain what was expected of the player. Make sure to follow me @liamtwose on twitter if you are interested in seeing the future of "a game of life"
Loved the graphics, especially the falling snow, will let the kids play it as I know they'll love it =D Great work!
Great little game, would be cool if there was perhaps a visual indicator on screen where asteroids are coming from, whether just lighting up or flashing the sides of the screen in relation.
Adding buildings, upgrades etc would add a whole new dimension to an already great existing framework.
great work, highest score 844, took a short while to get used to at first, but stick with it, its a neat little game!
Great little game, this could make for a great multiplayer tablet style board game affair. Nice job.
Nifty little puzzle game, work needed fine-tuning the bounce control (which is neat by the way) but would be perfect for mobile play.
Haha neat! Great work on your simulation. I wont give up my day job to be a sound designer just yet! =D
Great work. I particularly liked the reference to the number of games one has to play =D
Neat little city builder-in-a-screen. Great work.
Great work in such a short space of time. =) I feel this would work even better in a grid format, this would also solve harsh control issues mentioned by others.
Really love the whole style of the game, was a little confusing having to press space to continue the dialogue. Great job.
Such a neat mechanic, and executed beautifully. Kudos for a job well done =D
Neat concept, the keys didn't register for me for some reason on first load, but cleverly done. Very fitting with the theme!
Hey thanks everyone who's played it so far.
@benmcnelly that made me LOL!
@proforce I only had a super small window to enter as I'm mega busy, which is why I rolled with the core idea.
@xasey love it! =D if I update it, one of the "ideas" I did have that I deliberately didn't include to keep it reined in is actually a summary of some form!
@adil totally understand =D thanks for playing anyway!
@lxm thank you so much! I was pleased with how on point it was, the original Idea I had was to make a looping farming sim, but something just wasn't working with it so then I had the idea for ARCRPG =D
@jakob-reborn I deliberately kept it minimalist as I could have feature-creeped it to heck tbh. I wanted to hone in on the theme entirely; the core game LOOP.
