LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Rewire by drilltail 2014-04-28T11:09:00

Love the concept for this game. I feel some may not understand it though so maybe tweak the tutorial a little. Time to go play a bit more.

Root cause by oal 2014-04-28T08:30:00

First time round I blinked and my plant was dead. Great little game, although I had to mute it as the music was a bit overpowering.

Get Beneath The Surface by rujo 2014-05-01T08:51:00

Awesome game, well done Marco!

Sir Face goes Beneath by wolfgang 2014-04-28T12:47:00

Neat little game with nice graphics, although its hard to tell what things are which takes away a bit of the fun.

Fortune and Glory by cptalbertwesker 2014-04-28T13:19:00

My kids will be playing this later, I know they will love it. Great work at an educational title.

Dungeon Trap by Thijsku 2014-04-28T10:38:00

Love this game. But then I am a sucker for crafting games. I would have probably played all day, but for some reason the game froze. The walls were a little too easy to break also. Good work.

Very polished for only 48 hours!

Scratch by Martin_Monosys 2014-04-28T08:39:00

Didnt know if I wanted to watch! Quite a funny little game.

Mole supervisor by callmemonamiral 2014-04-28T08:49:00

Great setting, love the graphics. Would like to see where this one could be taken as with more goals it would be more fun.

Coalmine Manager by boringprogrammer 2014-04-28T09:50:00

Great, fun take on a mining game. Love to see where this could be taken. Good work (excuse the pun!)

Beneath The Surface - The Path by Baknik 2014-04-28T09:13:00

This game, whilst short, shows a lot of potential for future builds. Great idea, keep working on it!

Octopus ! by Monoquartz 2014-04-28T11:02:00

Also got project not shared error. Look forward to hopefully being able to play it.

UnderTheLibrary by Delca 2014-04-28T10:05:00

Neat little platformer, very polished in places, I did keep getting stuck on the first drop following the button, for some reason, if getting too close to the wall? otherwise overall a great game. Love it.

Professor Alpha by Marza 2014-04-28T09:42:00

Would have loved to play more but it didnt seem to be very easy to get over the lava pool? will vote again if fixed.

Core Collector by mystakin 2014-04-28T12:24:00

Great game. Even more so after I realised you could HOLD to shoot. Would be cool if the asteroids also did damage to the space station.

Let's Save the World (again) by narsil 2014-04-28T12:38:00

Echo regarding ambitious. The game overall looks great, great intro and had it perhaps even just had one working temple it would have been quite fun to play. Theres no reason why it couldnt be turned into a mini series, where you take on one temple in each version and it all ties in.

Keep at it, as its got the makings of something good.

Dungeon Break by anissen 2014-04-28T12:42:00

Great looking game, needs more work on how to play and I think the levels need more of a progression, seemed to get too confusing too quickly. Keep up the good work!

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T13:15:00

Oh. Thats odd, that trial worked perfectly before, I probably broke it in the final mad dash lol. Will take a look and reupload :) Thank you for trying it.

You can "from the menu" press the numbers 1 to 7 to get straight to each trial. Or numpad 1 to 7 also.

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T16:34:00

Thanks for the feedback, now the competition deadline has been met I will endeavour to release an update.

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T18:06:00

... also the game is best played in Chrome for anyone else looking to play :)

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T18:27:00

IF you get stuck at the choosing the 5 items trial you can also press space when it says click. :)

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T19:16:00

NEW WEB VERSION NOW UPLOADED! The choices trial should now be fixed :)

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T19:40:00

NEW "OTHER FORMAT" VERSIONS NOW UPLOADED!.. also.

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-28T20:46:00

hey Martin thanks for your comments :)whoops! The block stacking was made quite a lot easier. Plus it does ask if you would like help ;) or indeed to give up.

LOL @ horror games. Now you point that out then yes. Although the message isnt initially about the seven deadly sins, its only IF they get through the game that they will realise.

I will give the description some more thought as it was rushed along. Thanks again. Appreciate it :)

Saving Grace by liamtwose 2014-04-29T18:04:00

Thank you, yes the box stacking could have a game all of its own to be fair :D I'll be revisiting it as soon as I can to relook at difficulty. I did get my two to play it both 6/7 and they found it quite difficult, just a shame I was restricted by time.

LucanusCrawlus by jayhof 2014-04-28T12:44:00

Looks good. Would like to see more added to it, most definitely as that would make it more fun to play.

Danger mines! by mikhog 2014-04-28T13:29:00

Emulates the danger of mines quite well, by making you cautious. Great game. Personally, I think the mines explosion is enough, without the detached limbs.

Little Viking by pythong 2014-04-28T13:03:00

Great looking game, let down by the double spikes on the slant. There's hard, and then there's too hard and so early on in the game too. Would have loved to play further :)

Infector Detector by Devtactics 2014-04-28T10:47:00

Great little Infection sim, would be great if you decide to take this further. Possibly add more clues to detection? or even special scene tools.

Beneath the Trolls by Dreauw 2014-04-28T22:27:00

Great little game. LOL was playing it for ages not realising there was wasd move, with just the grapple lol. Teaches me not to read the instructions! Love the graphics.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Tv Simulator 2015 by Carl Graves 2014-12-08T11:22:00

Nom Nom, Nom Nom, Nom Nom, Nom Nom. Great simulation just for that reason alone lol!

2048 Souls by Rosencatz 2014-12-08T10:58:00

Neat spin on 2048, would be cool to have them turn into different monster types when they merge.

One Room Dungeon by HacksawUnit 2014-12-08T13:29:00

Only got 4 chests lol. Great little quick-based dungeon game :)

OMNI by Noah Ratcliff 2014-12-10T21:32:00

The greatest interpretation of the theme I've come across! Great work =D

Game of the Probability Goose by Alexandre Szybiak 2014-12-08T11:42:00

Nicely done little board game! Get this ported to tablets :)

Theyfend by ghostinthesoft 2014-12-08T13:15:00

Quite a unique air about it, like it.

Swords and Hammers by nicotuason 2014-12-08T12:29:00

Wow. Love this entry, and has so much potential. Great job!

Dead Pixel by The Jahn 2014-12-08T12:15:00

Great work. Simple to play and nicely polished, this would suit mobile devices to a tee.

Snowball juggling Olympio by Benjamin 2014-12-08T10:02:00

Wow great execution of such a simple idea. Although I absolutely suck at juggling both in real life and now in a game too =D

Tiny Arena by SketchyGalore 2014-12-08T10:25:00

Awesome represention of arena combat. Great job. I can forgive the iffy controls, just. =D

endless rules by dunin 2014-12-08T11:53:00

Awesome, made it to rule #9 also. Great idea :D

Snow Need To Rush by SnoutUp 2014-12-08T10:12:00

There is Snow doubt this is a neat game, great work for less than 48 hours =) could make a neat multiplayer game on a tablet if you had another snowman moving the other way :D

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-08T11:46:00

Hi thanks to all the comments / votes. So wish I'd had more time to make it a lot more polished. You drag your counter, the one with the U on it, to interact with the buildings, such as the house, shop and work. Plus you can also drag food / water to interact with things also.

The main premise for the game is for people to discover, which is why I opted for little in the way of tutorial etc, but future versions, I will give this some thought :)

Thank you all for playing it and for the kind comments / feedback. Absorbed and duly noted :)

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-08T13:32:00

Yeah good point could probably lose the karma bar actually. Was supposed to affect the outcome of your legacy etc but I guess its superfluous. :)

Again later versions I'd like to explore aspects like socialising etc and more vital stats to manage. I just need to figure out a way of doing so without crowding the screen even more than it is :)

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-08T13:52:00

They are technically supposed to go hunt for food and water but there seems to be a few economical issues. Shall have to work on a new version once the compo is over.

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-09T10:33:00

Thank you yes the initial plan was to see how long you could carry your legacy on for through pro-creation. I've actually done away with the karma bar, but not entirely, the player ultimately may or may not know if they're doing good or bad, but their legacy will inevitably reflect that or the direction their game takes.

I realised soon in that the game idea I thought was simple, actually wasn't so much so.

I opted out of the graphics @FerraWare as I'm not the greatest artist and felt the majority would likely not see it as I hoped :)

I've got a few ideas to revamp and create a second version.

A tutorial will definitely be present even if it merely introduces certain aspects as you go, the first time round. Relaxing music, added to the list :)

Thank you for all the great feedback.

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-10T20:21:00

I've done a 1st retake... which can be played at http://gamejolt.com/games/strategy-sim/a-game-of-life/41499/ - this is closer to how I envisaged.

A Game Of Life by liamtwose 2014-12-14T14:49:00

Thanks everybody, the feedback provided has been immense. I definitely prefer not to hand-hold the player too much, although realise I needed a small fraction to better explain what was expected of the player. Make sure to follow me @liamtwose on twitter if you are interested in seeing the future of "a game of life"

Snowman Factory by Rozaxe 2014-12-08T12:47:00

Loved the graphics, especially the falling snow, will let the kids play it as I know they'll love it =D Great work!

All Is Lost by plauk 2014-12-08T10:18:00

Great little game, would be cool if there was perhaps a visual indicator on screen where asteroids are coming from, whether just lighting up or flashing the sides of the screen in relation.

Adding buildings, upgrades etc would add a whole new dimension to an already great existing framework.

The Lonely Realm of Tom Thaum, the Space Wizard by JJEvil 2014-12-08T11:07:00

great work, highest score 844, took a short while to get used to at first, but stick with it, its a neat little game!

Ram Dungeon by 01101101 2014-12-08T11:15:00

Great little game, this could make for a great multiplayer tablet style board game affair. Nice job.

Boing! by daredevildave 2014-12-11T10:21:00

Nifty little puzzle game, work needed fine-tuning the bounce control (which is neat by the way) but would be perfect for mobile play.

Beat Bop Delicious by Kitch 2014-12-08T10:39:00

Haha neat! Great work on your simulation. I wont give up my day job to be a sound designer just yet! =D

Life of a Geek by Tommyno222 2014-12-08T10:48:00

Great work. I particularly liked the reference to the number of games one has to play =D

Toytown by Frozen Fractal 2014-12-08T09:36:00

Neat little city builder-in-a-screen. Great work.

Egyptian Labyrinth by Logun 2014-12-08T12:22:00

Great work in such a short space of time. =) I feel this would work even better in a grid format, this would also solve harsh control issues mentioned by others.

Memories of Seasons by ncannasse 2014-12-08T13:08:00

Really love the whole style of the game, was a little confusing having to press space to continue the dialogue. Great job.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Electron the Electrical Engineer by xilentor 2020-10-24T22:15:05Z

Such a neat mechanic, and executed beautifully. Kudos for a job well done =D

Ring Rush by blotosaur 2020-10-05T23:01:20Z

Really neat mechanic! Finnicky at first but does make you feel great when you nail it (ocassionally!) =D

Great work!

Stuck In A Loop by runrajrun 2020-10-05T23:06:15Z

Neat concept, the keys didn't register for me for some reason on first load, but cleverly done. Very fitting with the theme!

ARCPG by Liam Twose 2020-10-04T16:57:16Z

Hey thanks everyone who's played it so far.

@benmcnelly that made me LOL!

@proforce I only had a super small window to enter as I'm mega busy, which is why I rolled with the core idea.

@xasey love it! =D if I update it, one of the "ideas" I did have that I deliberately didn't include to keep it reined in is actually a summary of some form!

@adil totally understand =D thanks for playing anyway!

@lxm thank you so much! I was pleased with how on point it was, the original Idea I had was to make a looping farming sim, but something just wasn't working with it so then I had the idea for ARCRPG =D

@jakob-reborn I deliberately kept it minimalist as I could have feature-creeped it to heck tbh. I wanted to hone in on the theme entirely; the core game LOOP.
