I like the screenshots and wish I could try it out, but I'm on a Mac.

Very nice snake/box game. I am jealous! Good entry/Good job
I like the mechanics. I'm a bit confused though about whether there's some way to get the thing in level. 2 without becoming stuck?
Puzzle were nice and quiet challenging!
@F4KETHIS i have the mac compiler purchased but i don't have a mac to compile it on hah
@ougrouk thanks!
@swellbastion thanks!
if you are 1 block long, there's no tail behind you to block yourself. spit blocks until you are 1 long then grab it
@Allov Thanks!
wow, this game was really well designed! I never knew there were more interesting variants on the snake formula. Very impressed!
Beat all the levels and got all the non-required item things. also the music is really good!
And....... is that.. loss at the end.. why would you meme on us like this..
oh and forgot to write in my last comment but I found 2 glitches, one is you can spit out blocks into holes even when you have none, and one time i moved onto my tail after eating a block and got stuck.
I did know about that second glitch but wow... oh boy is that first one game breaking... thanks for the heads up man!
also... it's the... lost level
Great game. Challenging and fun.
Really cool idea. This runs in wine on linux, if you extract the TileSnake.exe file, by the way.
challenging but interesting game!
I thought it was a really interesting puzzle game. Nice graphics/animation, and I liked the music, although the music tempo was a bit fast paced for a game where you should take your time and plan carefully (maybe something more mellow would have fit better). Overall a pretty good game, very innovative.
Great puzzle game works really well and some levels are quite challenging
Great game! The puzzles were challenging and used interesting mechanics. I love how the tail size limits the areas you can go to, all the way down to having no tail at all, allowing you to turn around. I also like how the exit requirement creates an interesting twist where sometimes you need to get as many blocks as you can, and other times you need to get rid of blocks.
Also, I was surprised I could spit blocks onto the holes when I didn't have a tail, which I see now may have been a bug. I didn't totally feel like it was game breaking though. I guess it allowed me to solve some puzzles in an easier way, but I still felt clever for getting through the level using that mechanic.
Really nice little puzzle game, very challenging. Keep up the good work!
very innovative snake game - could see this as a nice causual puzzle game - nice job
Really clever idea. Well done. You could of done with a tutorial though

Awesome concept! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/V5g1IHvqQQk
Wow, really neat puzzle game. It's pretty hard -- I didn't make it all the way through, got stuck on the level in your last screenshot (although tbh I didn't try very hard). Great puzzle design. The music gets a bit annoying after a while though.
I think I found a bug: I could "un-eat" tiles even when I was already at length 1, so I could pave over the entire area. Is that intended?
it's not. I fixed it for the post-mortem
Excellent entry!
Great game, I liked it very much! Clever and fun
Great Job Drew! :D
Excellent game!
Very innovative idea, using the classic Snake-mechanics in a block puzzle game. It made for great puzzles, especially in the later levels, where more puzzle elements were introduced. Especially the directional walls and the "tile eliminator" gave interesting twists to the solutions.
Having the optional objectives for extra challenge was a nice touch as well.
I also enjoyed the combination of sound, music and graphics.
Nice concept! Great to see games like that.
Great puzzle idea! That was a real brain teaser. There was one level that I couldn't figure out, the one where you have to cross a wide hole in the ground and somehow shuffle all the tiles over to the other side first.
I almost made it, but then didn't have enough space on the right side to actually pick the last square up again. That's also my only point of critique: The difficulty progression is very random. The puzzles are all great, but some of the hardest ones are early in the game.
You might also want to try to split your download into two files, one for the source, one for the game. The 53MB download from itch.io took ages this way.
I enjoyed this game and I've spent more time on it than on many others :)
Good game, didn't manage to finish it, but what I have seen of it was brilliant, trying to collect the "optional" pieces was more challenging then I thought it would be.
@rnlf thanks for the critique! I'll keep that in mind. It was kind of difficult because I wanted to introduce new mechanics constantly, so I'd make less complicated levels with those in mind. I guess in the future I could just make longer levels, but that increases the iteration time, basically, the longer puzzles are frustrating. To combat this i tried using optional pieces so that you could still complete the difficult tasks with fast iteration time while still having longer levels.
despite all this I surrendered to the whims of simple gimmick levels to fluff the level count, which really messed with the difficulty curve. When I make a post-mortem version I hope to address that
Also with the downloading file... I'm surprised that never came up. thanks for catching that
Liked the idea and the puzzles. You can add some screen with level selector and a tick when the level was completed, but not skipped. And a counter how many optionals were collected. Liked the pastel backgrounds, so I would change the one, which is only white into something different, it stood out too much. Overall - you wanted some advice, so I tried to find something to improve, but it was really very nice puzzle game :)
thanks alot man! I'll be sure to include all of that in post mortem! I may use something else for the backgrounds though.
