Loved playing this one.
I think the thing that I appreciated most about this game was how well the mechanics were though out and implemented. The Fire and CO2 added a whole nother strategic layer on this game. Coins were easy to get but it meant that the you were always upgrading and playing slightly differently than last time. The music kept me hyped the whole way through and it was actually quite difficult.
I do think there could have been a better to implement the "You have a limited amount of Fire and CO2" mechanic (by the way I beat the game and got all the upgrades), possibly, putting out 2 or 3 Fires gives you one back? I know you didn't want people to beat the game on the first try but I think there could've been a better way to do it. Some screenshake would've made the game a lot more satisfying and juicy as well.
This is a very good submission with a lot of potential. Good Job on this one :)

This is probably the best game I've played so far. Fantastic art work and music, the gameplay is so damn fun and the difficulty has a very nice learning curve. The shop system is also very well implemented. Fantastic job!

@call-me-nutty I agree - was very difficult to decide on the combinations of the upgrades, micro-mechanics and how everything fits together. I've added a post-ld version now which fixes/adds a little screen shake too. Thanks for playing!

This was my favorite so far. Great mechanic of balancing using fire to damage enemies vs it collapsing the room. It was also *incredibly* polished for a compo game. Didn't expect it to have upgrade mechanics but it totally did. Very well done!

The art in this is great. Very well done and well suited for the game itself. The music worked well too. I did run into a problem with it being too easy to accidentally go down the ladder. A couple times I was collecting coins and accidentally got too close to the ladder and wasn't able to collect everything. Overall, nice job!

graphics, music and overall are lovely and the game is fun. I love the old-fashion style.
I'm not sure about the theme though, it sounds more like a weapon that returns to the hero.
But it's a great entry, good work!

@mgsx The walls close in over time, reducing the space! I will make this a bit more obvious in the post-ld version. Thanks for playing.
Loading progressbar looked a little static image, but indicated loading anyway, and I was surpriced how short the loading time was. I first didn't figure out that I can shoot the enemies, but mouse click helped with that. The game looks nice, and clearly implement the theme.
Gret game especially for a compo ! everything fit well. like how you can keep your coins after you die ^^

Amazing game! I love the graphics and the music a lot. Using both the room and the fire as a way to limit where the player can go is a really great idea and I was surprised to see an upgrade system after I died. Lots of polish and lots of fun, fantastic!
Very well conceptualized game. Good graphics and game mechanism. Audio fits well with the overall game. I enjoyed playing it.
UGH!!!! This game is so good! I cant stop playing

Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/YTqGyFG4tXA
The 1990 DOS game Pyro II came to mind when I saw the screenshot: [Pyro II](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEc4SDDsxGA).
This game is more like a circa 2010 Flash game that would have gotten 1,000,000 plays on Newgrounds or Kongregate back in the day, though. It's mostly because of that shop screen and the game loop constantly forcing you to want the next item so that you can progress. That was a thing that really characterized Flash games around then and looking back on it I think it's a dark pattern - it compromises the design, diminishing the intrinsic reward factor.
That said, I'm impressed by the concept overall. There could be more going on with the scenario and characterization, but as-is, it basically gives you a cool variation on a twin-stick shooter.
Per usual, you delivered a super polished and solid entry! This one is probably my favorite of your last 3. The mechanism is familiar, but subtly unique. I like lobbing the fire to a specific spot rather than just shooting in a straight line. The upgrades are always fun and give a ton of depth to a simple mechanism. As usual, the art and sound are great and fit together great.
Literally my only criticism, that somebody else mentioned, is running into the ladder and not being able to collect all the coins. I'm not even sure how you'd solve it without ruining the game flow, but it was kinda annoying.
Great game!
5 stars graphics from me. This art style is just gorgeous. I also really like how the music id damped whenever you loose - and yes, I lost quite a few times.
Very good game! Everything is excellent, from music to art, the progress of objects and money is great. The music attracts and does not feel repetitive, there are also different music and sfx for the menus and the game, when firing, when dying, when killing enemies, very well done seriously. The art looks complete and finished, it seems that nothing was made in a rush or anything (although internally you may have had to cut something from the scope). This is supremely polished, it shows the effort put into the game, things that I felt somewhat unfair, burn myself with the firewalk and maybe the need of some power up to walk over the flames or something, I really thought that the boots were going to help me with that. Anyway, the game is beautiful, is one of the most complete I have seen in this ldjam, congratulations!
Love the concept, graphics, audio - it's a solid piece of work. However, the right-click was a bit glitchy on my end. Not sure if it's Chrome's fault or some weirdness. Really wish it hadn't been a problem because I'd love to get further along. :\
Here's a video of my play (and the glitchiness): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298012019
Nice game, made me smile. The character is kind of adorable, and graphics overall are nice. I enjoyed the upgrades, and it kept me coming back until I completed it. Good level of polish for a jam game, great work!
Wow! This game looks amazingly good and polished. The graphics are very cute and really impressive and the music was very fitting. Great work there, my only complaint is that it got so difficult that I couldn't pass level four even after trying for maybe 15 times. I got all the upgrades though and it was very fun to play. Congratulations :)
