Those machinegun bears were just OP.
The movement feels really good, and the charging time before you fire is really tense, especially since the AI is brutally good.
So how do you get past the blue orb? I turn on the flashlight and focus it, but then I run out of power. The voice says that "I don't think you charged it for long enough".
Thank you for fixing the blue orb issue so quickly!
You guys did a really awesome job. The sound effects feel really good, including when you run into something and when turning on the flashlight. Those tiny details really help make the world feel real.
Obviously, the voice is an excellent touch. What tools did you use to make it sound synthetic?
The atmosphere created by the lighting is also fantastic. Finally, I loved how the robot just falls over when running out of power.
A really well polished and excellent presentation. Well done!
The colorful stickers idea is pretty cool, but it took me a while to figure out how to make them change, and even then, I'm not sure I was doing it right. They just happened to change after a while of standing on the pools.
@SowiHowl, you have to aim for the body of the potties. I didn't want to include the lid in the hitbox because it opens and closes.
Thanks!
It's a really fun game, and the mechanics build tension really well! It's a simple, but very complete game. Well done!
I like the mechanic alot. The patience required to watch and wait to be able to transfer to your next target, it feels good. I also really enjoyed seeing what was on my host's mind. Pretty funny stuff. Good job!
That gets intense at the end. The rat animations are fantastic! Fun game!
I like the simplicity of the art style. I was looking forward to more puzzles at the end.
I really had fun with this game. I haven't actually finished it yet (got to about day 17), but I plan to the second I get a chance. I'm not really into text adventures, but the story and atmosphere gripped me. Excellent build up while keeping things a mystery. Well done!
We had very similar games, mechanics-wise! I loved the drawn art, and the background was excellent. Bear arms is a funny weapon too =)
One tip, to get your bullets to spawn at the bear's mouth instead of your avatar's center, you can attach an empty game object to your avatar prefab (I called it Muzzle), and place the Muzzle at the mouth of the bear. Then, in the script that fires the gun, find the Muzzle object (and save it off) and use its transform as the spawn location of your bullet. It's nice because then you can make adjustments without having to rewrite your script.
Well done!
The tile swapping mechanic is definitely cool, but I didn't get to play with it much as the skellies were on my case constantly. They just move too fast to out maneuver them. Otherwise nice game, and well done.
Cool idea for a weapon. Took me quite a bit to figure out how to play. It's kind of unwieldy on the keyboard.
I had severe difficulty figuring out where to go, the clicking didn't seem to be consistent. I died several time, and gave up. I definitely like the premise and atmosphere. Just a little more guidance would have been helpful.
Absolutely fantastic game! Excellent polish in all areas, and the game was super engaging (and pretty hard for me too)!
After figuring out how to fly, I initially thought that you had to run into the birds to kill them, which was just ridiculously fun. Then I accidently hit space while on the ground and realized I could rotate like a turret and take them down that way (much easier).
I do want to say, K is a really awkward key to restart the level. Hunting for a key in the middle of my keyboard keeps me from getting back into the action.
Definitely a lot of fun, good particle effects and animations.
Wow. This game is an example of how to tell a story with gameplay. The colored cubes were perfect for explaining what was going on without needing to make complex models. The flocking AI was also fantastic.
This is the kind of deep game that I wanted to see out of this theme. Well done!
A fun, solid clicker game! I enjoyed the trophies and the upgrade names.
I'm actually a bit frustrated because I want to see where this game goes! But There doesn't seem to be anything else that is clickable except the Pale Ale and the bartender inside the pub. I found the three clickable things outside. None of the other NPCs in the pub are clickable.
Also, how do I use the letter in my inventory?
Otherwise, this game looks good and the theme looks really fun.
If there's a bug or something, let me know and I'll come back and play it again. Or maybe a hint on what to click? I clicked everywhere in both areas for a good ten minutes.
Also, Enter key is really awkward to press for text dismissal when the player has their hands on WASD and the mouse, thankfully it looks like space also dismisses text. I recommend putting that in the description.
Fun game! I was a little confused when my rage would runout, but I guess it was because I was spraying bullets everywhere. The zoom effect on the beat was excellent and definitely made it more intense, but it was kind of giving me motion sickness towards the end there. Well done!
Excellent minimalistic style. It really set the mood of the story (along with the music). I really really really would have liked to see more endings (or maybe I missed them? I played through a few times). And this one also hit me in the feels: I have a 15 month-old daughter, so I definitely related to the "father being proud and supportive" perspective. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous, I hope I can make games with my daughter when she gets older too! Excellent game!
Nice, fun to play. Finally getting all the humans is pretty hard (I would have liked to upgrade the time or speed much more). Well done!
@Volatile Dove Thanks for the feedback about the critical coins. Yah, it's hard to see the additional coins coming out. The floating text idea is excellent and I'll look into adding that.
@Aaranos Yah, I definitely wanted to put more dialog and backstory in, but time got the better of me. I will be reworking the story and adding more dialog after the voting is over. I'm also looking into other upgrades as well.
I really wanted to make the game more available for everyone, so I didn't want to bog the players down with a stupid number of clicks. I've found that making a game short but excellent is much better for Ludum Dare, as most people are hoping to vote many entries quickly.
Thank you for your feedback!
Haha, being a cat person, this definitely has a grain of truth. Well done making everything with just the default prefabs! Everything looked like excellent abstractions of the real object. It's impressive what you made with just those handful of shapes!
Also, Icarus (my cat) came in the room while I was playing (must have heard the meowing) and just stared at the screen with a completely perplexed look!
I definitely went and knocked down every last thing =) Well done!
Oh Carl, you're such a gentleman. Very funny and well polished game! I wish I could help Carl out more.
Ridiculous but fun! I liked the whole style of the game and it was an interesting take on the theme. I got lost a bit trying to find the key. Well done!
I really loved the mechanic! I don't think I've ever seen "be the bullet". Truly innovative and appropriate for the theme! The controls were really hard for me, and because I died a lot, the slow fade-out fade-in when you die was starting to drive me nuts. Plus, the "slow down on hit" caused more than a few of my deaths. However, the fading, slowdown, and bullet tail were all fantastic effects and really added gravity to the game.
This is a really excellent game! The voxel art and animations are awesome and feel great, and are an excellent nod to the original game. The stage where you have four bomb invaders was a little too hard for me (there seems to be very little room for error with three shooters). Otherwise, just wow. I'm impressed with how much you got done in such a short amount of time! And the cut scenes really made me chuckle.
Excellent game! It was super satisfying to smash everything. I kind of wish I could have killed the tanks, and I ran into a bug twice where the avatar would stop moving and I would have to restart the game.
I loved the ending! and I felt genuinely bad after realizing what I was reading. I thought it was going to be another game that took the theme in its literal sense, but then the ending nailed the better interpretation of the theme on the head!
Definitely appropriately named =) The odd controls and slidy-ness made it far more interesting.
I had an issue logging in. It kept saying that I had an incorrect username or token, when I definitely did not. But then it saved my score anyways. So maybe there's a bug with being auto-signed in, blocking manual signin?
For 8 hours of work, good job =)
I enjoyed the writing and the characters. Definitely a twist that I wasn't expecting, regardless of the theme. The text animations and the fade-outs are a bit too slow, but the atmosphere was excellent. Being a potty humor connoisseur myself, I enjoyed the poop joke =) Well done and fantastic ending!
I loved how the gameplay tied in with the story, and how it unlocked the story as you solved each puzzle. I liked the story as well!
The combinations were a little hard to figure out (I may or may not have looked at the code so that I could see the rest of the story >.>)
I love the concept, the art and music are excellent, and I honestly felt bad when I saw the meter was running out, worried that Baldwin would turn to stone. I would have liked to actually see an animation (or just a color change) of him turning to stone, instead of just a text popup. Otherwise, well done!
I definitely liked the idea, and it was fun to see my vampire minions give hugs to other civilians.
I really like the art! Took me a while to figure out the correct choices. I enjoyed the banter between the two characters.
The atmosphere is amazing. The excellent artwork of the environment, the old film effect, and the music just brought this world together.
For me, some of the rooms were painfully difficult and only had tiny bits of room for error. I definitely died a lot. But having the instant restart was a brilliant move and prevented me from rage quitting.
I really like the head mechanic. It definitely has a lot of potential, but even with only two action-based heads, you managed to come up with a ton of interesting and varied rooms. I look forward to seeing what other heads you come up with!
Side note, it looks like the first window of the locked building at the end is being drawn on top of the player if you jump in front of it with the chicken head.
I had trouble figuring out that first chicken head platform too. I think it's because it looks like some kind of info box instead of a platform. (Plus, I already came from the left and there wasn't anything there in the air, why would I go back?)
I just want to say, if I ever do a horror game, I'll be looking at Guillotine on how to make the atmosphere perfect.
I love the art style! Awesome concept. Just one note, if you get a chance to update it, disable the right click menu for the web version, as that makes it harder to play =)
Wow, I just loved the hand-drawn graphics, and with the music and sounds, it made it like baby godzilla was just trying to get home. Fantastic animation, and fun game!
