I like it. I just wish I could attack with the keyboard, or play it completely in a gamepad, because this is such an ability-based mechanic. Nice job! Have you ever played Shank 2 survival mode? I reminds me a lot. :D

nvrskipgameday 2017-04-25 03:02

Thanks for playing! :D Adding in a keyboard attack was one of the things I'd meant to do but then just forgot, heh. Haven't played Shank or Shank 2, always thought it looked interesting though.

davidthelazar 2017-05-01 17:23

This was really fun, I liked the mechanic. Only thing I would have liked to see is some indication of your progress to the next level (I'm guessing it was just time-based?)

fernandoadolfo 2017-05-01 18:02

Nice and entertaining game. The graphics and animations are really good. Unfortunately it doesn't have sound effects, I would like to hear when I hit that slimes kind of. The gameplay is simple but good, the camera movement works pretty well and the movement of the platforms it's a good detail. Nice job.

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-01 18:21

@davidthelazar I totally agree with you - it could use a clearer UI for sure. The board is supposed to sink when the weight of the slimes gets to be too heavy, definitely something I'd want to accentuate in a cleaned up version of this game, thanks for pointing that out.

@fernandoadolfo Also agreed - just didn't have time to pop SFX in this time around. Could definitely use some squishy slime sound effects. And thanks, I've passed the art compliments onto Noah B!

theslate 2017-05-02 00:10

Really nice art! Some indication of how much weight was too much would have been great. Good choice in music. Good job!

fireslash 2017-05-02 05:43

Neat idea!

The punching physics were kind of weird, sometimes enemies got rocketed out, other times they just slide a bit.

Art and sound were good, though I would have liked to hear some SFX in there to make punching a bit more satisfying.

I also felt it was kind of annoying I couldn't punch up (to deal with the ones stuck against walls), and i would have liked to see the world tilt a bit based on which side the load was on (maybe it could fall over if there was too heavy a load on one side specifically?)

gao-ming 2017-05-02 08:41

Which country is the developer?Works with Oriental feeling!Very fun. Great work!

jaytord 2017-05-02 12:22

I like the the idea of "falling" level, probably it would've been even more cool if it was falling by 1 floor, not by entire screen. Also showing max capacity of platform would helped a lot too. Anyway, it was enjoyable to play your game.

Graphics are very cool, too bad music wasn't made by you, it suits the game well.

sachos345 2017-05-02 13:42

Pretty fun game lasted 168 seconds until the tree sunk. Nice graphics, love the character animation and design. Would have loved to get some sfx with the game those punches lacked punch if you know what i mean. Controlling the girl felt awesome.

tommyflower 2017-05-02 14:50

The music is amazing and perfect for the game. The idea is original and I really like character animation (more in the girl than in enemies) and the artwork. Nice seeing the petals fall. I found it a bit difficult to shoot with the mouse. Would have liked a keyboard control.

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-02 16:30

Awesome feed back everyone! Super helpful, thank you. And thanks for playing! :)

crazi456 2017-05-03 04:40

Loving the character art for this! Music works well with the game. Very fun stuff, great work!

those-30-ninjas 2017-05-04 00:30

Great art/animation. Would have loved some sound effect to go with the music.

superpokeunicorn 2017-05-04 05:23

The audiovisual presentation of this game is great. I really like the character and environment design. The flower at the top and the imagery of it sinking into the darkness in particular are striking. The color scheme and style are very lovely, and the animations are great too. The music really fits the game and creates a nice atmosphere. I like the sense of hopelessness and how that emotion comes across though gameplay. Punching the blob dudes off of the platforms is fun, though I think you should have some audio feedback for hitting them. I do really like the respite between stages; it gives you some calm before the game gets harder, which is key to a good interest curve. That being said, the difficulty progression didn't make a lot of sense. You start off on the easiest level and later stages become harder, but progression is marked by LOSING, so, if I'm good at the beginning of the game and never lose, the game never becomes challenging. I actually had to try to lose on the second stage, but I really didn't stand much of a chance on stages three and four. Maybe you should have the rate of blob spawning increase over time so that even the first two stages get difficult eventually, but then the rate resets at the beginning of the next stage. I think that would make for a more varied interest curve; each level would get more hectic over time, reach a climax, and then reset with a respite before the next stage. Despite this issue, I had a really great time with this game. I was blown back by the quality of the presentation and the gameplay got really hectic and fun towards the end.

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-04 18:58

Excellent points @superpokeunicorn - increased spawning over time would help move that 2nd level along - it was something we considered during creation (after testing it a bit) but never got a chance to implement. I seriously appreciate your comment, tons of great feedback in there that will help with adjusting the difficulty and speed of the level progression. I'm glad the mood of the game came across as well, we were excited to do a game with a bit of a tragic feel to it.

kurt-roembke 2017-05-05 19:11

I had a lot of fun playing the game and keeping up with the action. The music works well. The art is really nice and I like the overall style of the game. Sound effects would add a lot!

unit684 2017-05-05 23:02

I really like the artwork, especially the animations. The platforming and fighting mechanics feel really nice too.

As others have said, a keyboard attack would work well. Other than that I think just more enemies, abilities and level variety would improve the game. Perhaps some kind of upgrade system to unlock new moves or something. Nice work :)

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-08 21:41

@unit684 - all excellent suggestions. An upgrade system would be really cool, I hadn't even considered it before. Thanks for the feedback.

cvetk0 2017-05-09 20:27

This is a really nice game with great potential. I loved the graphics and the music is cool as well with the beat adding to the tempo of the game. On first try I didn't even know how to attack so I did manage to get to see the whole level

I found it pretty simple eventually to keep the bad guys of the platforms but eventually I managed to fall to my untimely demise bellow. Oh well, I guess that's one way to go

Perhaps you could add some more enemy types with different behaviors and maybe some powerups player could use to get out of hairy situations.

Keep up the good work!

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-10 04:07

@cvetk0 Thanks for the suggestions! Powerups that could lower the board weight or knock enemies off the board is a really cool idea. Also would love to get multiple enemy types in this someday. :)

blackrose 2017-05-12 00:15

Its a good game ^^ Love the graphics! Some animations looks strange. More sound effects will be great ^^ I have fun playing it :3

sgstair 2017-05-13 23:10

Really nice work, rather well polished for such a quick project. Solid controls and graphics and a lot of nice little touches (platform tilting is especially good) I found it too easy to fall off when frantically jumping around to knock the slimes off (best score was just ascending and waiting for the levels to weigh down)

I played this on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/141022066 - time 1:36:35

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-14 19:09

@sgstair Thanks for the in-depth comment! Clothos & I watched your video too - it was cool (and immensely helpful) to see someone play it! Thanks for sharing. :)

buteratosgames 2017-05-16 10:56

Woooow! Very coool! Love it! 5 stars!

seconddimension 2017-05-20 15:23

Graphics and themes were nice, audio fitted well with that. I thought the controls were really good too, platforming on keyboard isn't always great, but it just felt quite natural here so well done for that. Only thing on the controls is that it seems a bit unfair that pressing down on the lowest platform makes you jump to your doom (I caught this a few time by accident).

The mechanic of knocking things off was quite fun too, I think it just needs a bit more of a sense of impact when you hit the slimes (some sound effect and visual feedback). If you had nailed the feeling of really punching them off it would have been super satisfying.

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-20 17:43

@seconddimension Excellent points all around. I originally had it so the bottom platform would become solid after the level changed so you couldn't fall through it - but I somehow managed to break it a few hours before submission (they started preventing people from going up), so back to normal levels they went.

Agreed that it needs some feedback for hitting slimes as well. Thanks for the feedback, and for playing! :)

nvrskipgameday 2017-05-21 21:48

Thanks everyone so much for the comments, ratings and feedback! See you next LD! :D
