LD37 — One room

Santa Claus by victorcrafty 2016-12-12T18:00:00

The game is quite simple, but also difficult. You'll often find that you just can't shoot fast enough to be able to kill all the enemies that are coming at you. You really don't have a choice but to take some of the damage. When you get to the boss, you have no way of knowing if you are even damaging him until the game suddenly throws up a pop-up saying you won. There needs to be a boss health bar, or some visual feedback when you damage him, like maybe he'll flash briefly.

Interesting take on the theme. There needs to be a bit more instruction on how to play, but once you figure it out, its relatively easy. The game crashed on me after I killed the 5th or so guy.

Leave The Room by Irioder 2016-12-12T18:33:00

Pretty much a recursion of what Tuism said. The controls were sticky, it almost seemed like the game froze when picking up keys. The enemies move too quickly for the control style that was being used, maybe if the controls were more fluid that wouldn't have been a problem. The background music was hard to hear, but it repeated so often it quickly became a bother. The graphics were nice, and fit with the sound effects, but not with the background music. There didn't seem to be any real correlation between collecting the keys and exiting the room.

An interesting puzzle to be sure. I got as far as needing to get warm and couldn't figure out what to do from there.

The controls are very limiting in that you can only press a single direction at a time. You have to let go of one arrow before pressing another or the second arrow won't be registered. Aside from the controls issue, the game is kinda cute. Reminds me a lot of PacMan in the gameplay style, and provides just enough difficulty to make it fun.

Consume Room by BallingerBallingerandBallingers 2016-12-19T22:21:00

Overall the game mechanics aren't very obvious. The game doesn't really give much indication on how to increase your health, or really how to play at all. While there is some hint to the fact that buying stuff may help, it doesn't really explain how they help.
That said, it is a very interesting take on the central theme.

Muto Locus by mechagk 2016-12-19T22:09:00

I absolutely loved it. The transitions from one room to the next can take you by surprise, which caused me to die several times, but I think that was the point. I only wish the graphics were done such that they can scale to the screen, as it was very tiny on my large resolution.

Escape the Room by CoderDozer 2016-12-19T22:56:00

Overall, it's a nice game. But as others have mentioned, the movement of the player is very twitchy.

Broom Bot Battle by A.W. Apps 2016-12-19T23:01:00

The movement is very slow, and it doesn't build up speed very much, if at all. This limits the player's options for strategy, as one might come from across the room, building up speed, to get that extra oomph to knock someone out. It doesn't seem to matter how far you've travelled before hitting someone, you bounce them the same amount.
I'd also advise spending just a little bit of time building an AI for un-manned bots, even it its just something simple.

Room One by Yamzho 2016-12-12T18:13:00

I like the concept, but there isn't much to it. Pretty much you just wait to make enough money and upgrade stuff, and there aren't very many upgrades to do. I very quickly found myself just sitting and watching the timer as there was nothing left to upgrade. As far as choices go, I found that there weren't many choices presented to me. The game has a lot of promise, provided more time was put into it to give more upgrades and more storyline choices.

THE ROOM by Genpaku 2016-12-12T17:49:00

Its a very simple game, but does not explain much of anything. I found myself having to just randomly click on everything with it constantly saying "I can not do that". But overall I have to say it was interesting.

Coincidence by Simple Ghost 2016-12-12T18:41:00

Overall I was really impressed with the gameplay. It's a simple concept done well. My only regret is that the story didn't play out longer than it did.

Dreamwalker by Tygrak 2016-12-19T22:29:00

Mouse controls were rather sensitive, but once you get used to it, its not so bad. I really love the "in-between" walking idea, that's kinda cool. Took me a while to figure out that I was supposed to be collecting stuff and connecting to other rooms. Think I fell like 4 times before I figured that part out.
