love the idea and graphics.
Awesome idea !
my brain hurts xD
awesome game nonetheless :)
Briliant execution. Could use some (even basic) story and conclusion to motivate the player. :)
I love the level changing animation. seemless. Nice work... Very Brainfxxxing controlls... very funny to see myself failing to switch mental between the directions :D
Very nice looking game. The transition between levels is great!
Found myself really struggling once I had to use 'upside down' controls, though.
My brain hurts!
Cool graphics.
The hardest part of the game are the controls. It would be much faster to play if the maze would rotate with you. So you dont have to switch the key controls every now and then.
The mazes are not that hard, which I like.
The background sound is quite relaxing which fits very good with the game concept. I can imagine to use this game to clear my mind. Unfortunately the controls prevent this.
Overall good game!
loved ^^
Great idea and graphics!
Looks great! You spoke of this original idea, what was it? Got really disorientated when navigating upside down.
An interesting game, but the controls felt really unnatural.
Nice art, and I love the move to the next level in the same screen. But sometime controls a bit confusing and also lava doesn't look to growth. Great job by the way! Congrats!
Mazeception! Really cool use of the theme, however I agree with the others about the controls. Awesome game though, keep it up!
Really nice concept, I like how the level expands. Controls take a while to get used to though.
Great submission! I agree that rotating the maze or camera with the player would help. If you could be racing against an expanding sun that might be fun too (but I could see why that'd be logistically difficult).
Thanks for sharing your game.
Beautiful game, simple and elegant mechanics. Fits the theme perfectly. But for some reason it runs really slow on my laptop.
Nice and warm atmosphere. The game makes me fill good and peaceful. =]
nice and warm game..
I liked the controls in particular, they were probably half the challenge, without being stupid. Very nice star, lovely crackling sound
For me as chrome-hater its "Sluggish as hell on Firefox" =(
Thanks everyone for your comments and feedback!
The original idea was indeed to make the central sun/lava expand to add some pressure, but we ran into a big problem: the lava could block some paths as it expands and trap the player inside a portion of the maze. That could have been part of the gameplay of course but it required some clever maze building algorithms to avoid making it too frustrating, and we unfortunately didn't have enough time to dig into that.
As for the weird controls, I agree with most of the comments here that it would have worked better to rotate the maze instead of the player. Ok, let's just pretend that the inverted directions in the bottom part is a gameplay feature :)
And sorry for all Firefox users out there! I am one as well but I used Chrome for coding the game as I liked its javascript debugger better. I stumbled upon the "firefox" issue just before posting the game and tried to find some last minute patch, to no avail :(
Liked the challenge of the navigation, added another element to the game with having to re-organise your thinking.
Nice idea! Plays quite well and looks good. Only the controls are a bit awkward, couldn't really get used to them :-(
Nice one! Awesome concept! Quite a brain strain!
Nice engine. The graphics and mood are very good. The current transition between levels makes no justice to how good the core idea is : You should have try a seamless transition :
Constantly Zoom in and out depending on player "height" ( = distance to center ) and when and empty zone reach the screen spawn the new level above the first one.
More easy to describe than code of course :)
It looks beautiful! I am aMazed ! (sorry for the very bad pun!)
Fun idea, love the title art. Maybe the center could grow or something to drive the player to try to escape faster and faster. Very neat though.
