Hahaha, I love this. It was fun to play along with the rhythm, Even the reloading was in time which was neat. These breakdancing ninjas always got me in the end though XD

I expected more rhythm games this LD but I am glad I played this one!

Here is my attempt:

I actually really like this one. The graphics and visuals are nice to look at. The idea itself is also well fitting, would like to see more. Small tip, i discovered taht you can just spam the left mouse button, this should give the player some form of penalty.

Super fun, I was surprised by how few ratings it has, I hope it doesn't end up overlooked. I've actually been wanting to make a game similar to this for a while, so forgive me if I end up dumping ideas from that. I think games like BPM: Bullets per Minute and Metal Hellsinger are really cool, but to me they're missing the feeling of almost "playing the music" that you get from something like Beatsaber or even Friday Night Funkin'. I love the way the music is integrated directly into the weapon sound design, I think it addresses that problem really well. Also love the goofy dancing animations on the character and enemies. A couple suggestions, although obviously it's your game so do what you think is best for it:

-This game has the same problem I found BPM to have, where the clip size isn't conducive to playing a full melody, so that might be something to consider.

-I feel like the reloading and breaking it would really benefit from being given a melody like shooting has, especially the groove meter attack since it's already a fixed length. Also having it not deal damage on the beat (far as I could tell) felt a little strange.

Overall though, I really liked it, I can't wait to see where this project goes in the future!

Really loved the feeling of the animation lining up with the beat when I was shooting successfully!

Great use of rhythm in this game! I have also previously tried to make a shooting-rhythm game, and I have to say, yours is much better executed than my attempt was!

In particular, shooting feels really good in this game. The sound design and visual effects are basically perfect, and the animations that play when you do the different kinds of shooting are super fun as well. I like to try to mix up the two kinds of shots to get a sort of melody going.

I did find that pressing Q seemed to be somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes I would take a lot of damage while I repeatedly pressed Q trying to get the breakdown going. I guess having some more visual/audio feedback for that would be good, so that it matches the polish level of the shooting mechanics.

Actually, I just reread the description, and now I see that it must have been that I wasn't pressing Q on the beat. So, maybe just having an audio cue when you press it off the beat would be enough. Or maybe there already is one, and I'm just missing it

But besides that, this game was just really fun to play (first 5 stars I've given this Ludum Dare, I think), even if it is more of a tech demo than a fully fleshed out product. Great job!

Wow, this feels very polished for just a day's work! I'm very bad at rhythm games but I had fun playing this nevertheless. I love the concept of breakdancing ninjas in a synthwave retro world!

Interesting game, I really enjoyed the graphics but the objective wasn't quite clear from the start

It's definitely a really cool tech demo. Once I finally "got" it (in terms of concentrating on the beat properly) I really enjoyed it and it felt super satisfying to land shots. For me personally there's a lot going on in terms of sounds and actions so it makes it hard to concentrate but I'm sure for other people that won't apply. Nice work!

Thank you so much to everyone who gave my game a play! I'm sorry I can't write a bespoke response to you all, as I'm barely finding the time to rate games whilst leaving good feedback, but I am very grateful for all the lovely things and some excellent points raised on improvement! I'm definitely taking notes.

You made this in a day? Man I really wish you had the full three days

You have proven before that rhythm games is something you are very skilled at making, and it really shows here. The way the shooting "adds" to the music, rather than just needing to be timed with the music makes a big difference.

One small thing I would wish, is that I could dash while reloading.

I would love it if you took this "tech demo" and turned it into a full game.

As always, top marks! :trophy:

PS my record is 64 500

(I think the text bugged out due to me playing on an ultra wide monitor, but I noticed no other issues related to it)
