Love the graphics and sound. It was a bit hard to get a feel for when you were about to get noticed at first and how much the light had to do with it. Solid entry!

This is a fun and creative idea, really solid execution as well.
My main suggestion for improvement would be regarding the level design. As it stands, it's quite easy to get caught out immediately at the spawn, before you can even get your bearings. That's a little un-fun.
By the way, is this a game maker game? That's so retro.
BTW: for anyone else who didn't get it, you have to hold the Down button to hide. I was about to throw this game out as obviously broken before I figured that one out...
There is a tip to hide in level one, but it only appears close to the time the light turns on
Nice little stealth game!
I appreciate that you took the time to make a tutorial for each of the items in your kit. It made sure you knew all your tools before dumping you into the action. I will say that the smokescreen and club were vastly more useful than the coin. I almost never was forced to use the coin.
I really like the guard AI, and how expressive they are when they become suspicious or surprised. The torch lighting is also really neat visually. The lights turning on and off didn't really affect how I played that much. I'm not sure exactly what they did mechanically, although I did sometimes get caught even while hiding when the lights were on (but inconsistently).
The storyline was also fun. I like the good-natured nude protagonist who only wants to beat the crap out of armed guards and tuck the princess into bed.
Well done for 48 hours!
I drew a picture of one of the guards and added it to the fan art compilation on my [profile.](https://ldjam.com/users/jeremy-ryan)
That is a really cool down to the basics stealth game while also having some interesting abilities. I however do not posess the patience for stealth. I somehow made it to the stage where you need to get the key. Definately was not sure when they would be able to see me. Is it that they see you when they are too close when its daylight while you are hidden behind something? Would be nice to have more indication for the hideing
@davision yes, the screen zoom in indicates they are searching near you. The bar at the top which indicates how hidden you are will also drop during that period. I should have taught that better!
Really like the minimal few-button design of this game. It's quite elegant and fun! I found the later levels quite difficult and a bit frustrating to restart, perhaps if there were some checkpoints? Great little game overall with lots of potential :)
Loved this one! Very nice stealth game. I was amazed when new mechanics started pouring in :P The SFX when dying was great, levels were creative. And it's a compo, great work!!!
Very polished, very cool, very fun! The instrcution on using coins, smoke and clubs was too subtle for me to notice for a while but once I figured it out, had a great time! Love the art as welL!
Fantastic stealth game! Nice visuals and sound design! Missed some music! Excellent Entry!
Really nice game! I did have some frustrations with the guards noticing me while I felt like I was perfectly in hiding, but other than that it was quite enjoyable! It's fun to strategize with the items you have. When to use which item? There wasn't much variety, but the funny story made up for that. Good job!
Really nice tiny pixelart, love the mood and overall polished entry!
Hi there!
Really nice game. I loved the minimalistic graphics, audio was nice too. Gameplay was spot on, very simple mechanics of hiding, I liked how the guards felt lost whit the "?" in their head when I pressed the down key to hide.
Very nice entry, congrats!
Wow nice art and game design, i love how at first you think is difficult but onece you get used to the 3 abilities you can get throw levels pretty easily. Nice entry I have missed maybe some music but if the reason of not including music is because is a sneak game, I think it would add a very good tension to it.
@vozme thank you! The music was missing because I ran out of time and, being a compo entry, I didn't have someone to make any for me  I can make my own music, but am slow at it haha
This was really charming! Visuals are super stylish, as usual from you. Sounds were really good, too! very clean. Also, very lengthy for a jam game! (and with good pacing, too, in my opinion). I found myself getting frustrated at the gameplay sometimes, getting bad results from seemingly random happenings (whether a guard turned at the wrong time, or if they even happen to see me during the light seemed random at times) but retrying was very quick so after a while I didn't mind it. I think the on/off timer felt largely irrelevant for most of the game, at the very least it would've been cute to tie that into the story! especially with the ending (funny twist :) but maybe the king couldve been the one flipping the lights on and off, i dunno!). Eventually each level became just sprinting paste everything, using club the cloud as backup. but i didn't find anything displeasing about that. All in all, this is really good!
This was a fun little game. I like the minimalist sounds and art style a lot. The guards seemed to notice me when I feel like they shouldn't have, but that only happened when I wasn't ducking. All in all, this is a really cool entry. There was a minor glitch where the guards' sprite was spazzing out and mirroring for a sec, like maybe image_xscale was swapping values or something. Wasn't a big deal, the game was still sweet. Would you mind if I put it on the PS Vita? I won't release it online or anything without your permission, I just like to put little homebrew games on the Vita for my kids to play.
I love stealth games! And this one is very polished! I had a ton of trouble with the very first level because I didn't understand that the arrow next to the instruction meant press down -- I only understood when I went and looked at the comments, and then it was obvious in retrospect. I also had a hard time intuitively understanding when a guard was going to be able to find me behind cover or not -- something that I imagine would just need a little small numbers tweaking to feel great.
The look for is really nice and clean, very cohesive and readable style.
Good job with the game. I really enjoyed the different abilities you got and each one felt useful and you could clear the levels pretty quickly by using them well. The art style fit nicely with the game and I enjoyed the dialogue you got each level. It was a bit hard to tell what effect the lights had and when the guard would spot you hiding or just walk past you. Overall a very nice game.
I really like the stealth play of the first few levels, but after them, when you had free use of all of the upgrades it felt like in each level at most you had to engage with the stealth mechanic once or twice. It was still really fun smashing my way through the guards, grabbing the princess (after clubbing her), and taking out the king (serious the story is hilarious), but I wanted more of that stealth action! Good job though, very enjoyable game.
Hats off for a very polished compo entry! I really loved the style, and I'm a big fan of stealth games. I agree with others that the hiding mechanic wasn't the easiest to understand. It seemed like hiding when the lights were on had no real effect, or at least they tended to find me more often than not. It'd be nicer to know when to expect I've done a good enough job, otherwise I get pretty discouraged.
Great job on all the artwork and pacing, though!
Good job !
