Great entry! Game is short but complete, the music and pixel art are fascinating. But I find the game will be more interesting without the mechanics of "every 10 seconds" XD.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD51 → Every ten seconds, the game skips...

The idea is pretty original which is great! the story telling at the start is always a plus too. I managed to reach the dragon but how I'm I supposed to beat him? I don't know if you playtested that level but It's pretty much impossible, the dragon attacks you at spawn so you always take 1 damage and there is no damage cooldown while the dragon just keep shooting non stop, really brok the mood for me. I think the game itself is fun, the speed element (even when reading at the start lol) is there but that last level could use some refactoring
Very nice idea theme-wise, also loved the TV channel switching flow of the game! It's a bit short, but I fully understand that making multiple mechanics during a game jam is quite hard. Well done!
Good entry! The story at the beginning and the quick levels are really fun. I found aiming your shots very difficult, with no feedback of where they would go. Eventually I got stuck at the dragon level, I've got no idea how to beat it.
@0x-void-x0 @last-angle Thank you for the feedback about the dragon. Yes, I playtested it, but I can see how it's super tough with the shoot mechanics as they are at the moment (and lack of visual hurt indicator for when you hit the dragon). I promise it is winnable.
I can take a look into fixing the dragon up for a 1.1 build and maybe improve on the shoot mechanics.
I said out loud as I was playing "that's a great bit!" I really like the presentation, and the game was very fun. I also had difficulty with the dragon until I switched from keyboard to a controller, after which I completed it immediately -- it was much easier to aim shots using the analog stick.
I am a very fast reader so I got to enjoy the easter egg text. Loved the humor throughout!
The game completely reeks of nostalgia... both from the music and from the graphics. The controls really annoyed me.. shooting only where the stick figure goes and not where the mouse is for me was just too complicated :D but the movement of the character as such was fine.
I liked the game, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to defeat the dragon. In addition, it's tough when you can only shoot 8 directions (instead of just shooting wherever the mouse was pointing). Other than that, great game!
This is an interesting take on the theme. I loved the jokes, especially the one in the prologue.
It would have been nice if it had better control. The boss fight was frustrating because of it.
it fells like legend of zelda at that first time but it is actually more like warioware! this idea is really interesting especially in use the opening narration as the first level. i think you can still add some direction to the goal of the level, I thought I should collect coin instead of going to the gate at the level before dragon. the direction can be like: "hey! listen! practice your spell with those target!" "hey! listen! defeat those thugs!" "hey! listen! go to the boss gate!"
Very humorous idea, the effect of cutting scenes in the middle is very much like watching TV changing channels. All done by one person is really a little too amazing
Loved the dialogue for the cutscenes, just took a bit to figure out that I needed to progress through them. The aiming was a bit confusing and hard to use during the boss fight but otherwise was a neat experience!
Fun game, I enjoyed speed running dialogue being part of the game, loved the art and sounds. Shooting didn't feel responsive because the shooting direction was based of the character's velocity instead of the last key that was pressed, but other then that, great game!
Was a bit confused at first on how to beat level 3, but but the game was fast paced enough that there was not a dull moment. I loved the sound design, although the static was quite harsh. I think you executed the theme very well. Great job!
This felt like an irreverent (but loving) parody of classic adventure titles. Even if that wasn't quite the intent, it was refreshing! Once I understood what was going on, I just chuckled all the way through. Fantastic entry <3
(I agree what has been said about attacking the dragon, what with only being able to fire in the direction of motion, but I STUCK WITH IT and did eventually best the foe. Great ending!)
Great entry, feels very consistent! Love how the dialogues were also games you had to complete in 10 seconds. All the levels have clear goals and are doable after a couple of attempts, well balanced in that regard. Also got a good chuckle dying to the boss and laying there in silence for the remainder of the time :D Can't really give any constructive criticism, it's a very coherent and tight package! (I even like the shooting mechanics that many other comments seem to lament)
Graphics were nice, although the aiming was annoying
This was a cool mind-bender. I enjoyed that it took me a little while to figure out what was going on, and the way that each screen was a unit. Once there was just one screen that didn't repeat I started to realize how things would unfold, and I had some nice little rush moments after that. Nice touch that it included combat, getting to the exit, and speed-reading! Good variety that hit on the genre tropes of the larger game it hinted at skipping through.
I think I might have mutually-killed the fire-spitting dragon though, because I did die but he didn't repeat... or maybe I missed something in the speed-reading afteward!
Fun unique entry with something I hadn't quite seen before.
Wow this was amazing! Didn't laugh that hard on any other LD game. I just wish the aiming would have been a bit easier but it was quite funny having to see myself lay around dead till the timer resets.
