Harder than I thought it would be-- and more fun too.
The dots only move one direction. Seems to limit any sort of 'gameplay'. But the general feel, music and graphics are great. I tend to wonder, though, if collaborating (even just on poetry) isn't technically breaking the rules.
Graphics could use work; hard to see! Otherwise, interesting and fun gameplay.
Neat stuff. Runs kind of slow, though. Original idea.
This would be more fun if I knew math! But it's a really cool concept. Backspace ruins syntax though...
Very cool concept. Unfortunately, the limit of holding one item and the seeming inability to use items together caused me too much trepidation. I don't have a great way of knowing where I dropped the rope after I pick up the metal thing, so I don't want to drop it. So I don't progress... still, you're on to something.
That's really great for your first pixel art. All the media is great, wish you had time for more content!
@Benjamin: thanks for the feedback! The one thing that sticks out to me is the plane background issue-- I realized this pretty late because I was so used to the level setup. At the last minute I tried to change the brightness/contrast of the assets to make them stand out better. Unfortunately, I agree, it wasn't quite enough. As for the lack of light-- I toned that down too near the end. I thought it was passable, but I knew it would be an issue. Brightness might help.
Thanks again!
@AyCe- keep in mind that you can break single-wide blocks. This trick is used.
@caranha- there's a bug with the info screen where it closes next frame. Unfortunately I didn't catch it before the deadline. It was working in the build I was going to submit, but then I switched a few things last minute.
@Ian- yeah, plat physics is something I wish I could have improved on. Platformers can be so smooth and fun if you get the physics down. Unfortunately I have no experience in platformers so I went with a basic approach in order to have more time for content.
No directions for incompetent windows folks? :/
Just wanted to point out that your commitment to integrity is nice :)
I don't know how long I spent playing this. I will be blunt: it was fairly boring after a few minutes. But the snippets were enough to keep me going. I beat the game. Good job. Very impressive considering the timeframe. A few things that would have made the experience more enjoyable: mouse-controlled camera (looking off edges is cool, but not as cool as being able to get a better grasp of my surroundings), textures. Of course, textures would have taken too much time I'm sure.
Wasn't expecting the weeping angel! Is the game supposed to end when you get both boxes?
