I couldn't find the cat.

cushycode 2016-12-12 10:48

@MestR, it's not an easy job, eh

erikiene 2016-12-12 17:58

I was going to say the exact opposite! Even without the light, one can easily pick up where the cat is and it's even more easy when it pops up somewhere. Good idea nonetheless, enjoyed the graphics, atmosphere.

littleball 2016-12-12 17:58

Good to see some nice 3D work there.

sn0uk 2016-12-12 20:23

Took 3 seconds to finish the game, not sure how to rate this one really. Maybe, extend the game time? somehow?
Graphics were good.

gene-z 2016-12-12 20:51

Nice game, hard

zarkonnen 2016-12-12 20:53

Kitty!

drtizzle 2016-12-12 20:55

Cat themed games always have an advantage with me ;)

I was able to see the cat without using my flashlight, so it is too easy to win.
Very nice graphics, I like your style!

gdcvdqpl 2016-12-12 20:56

FOUND IT ////
Great atmosphere ! The 3d is great and the level is nicely made : we can feel the fact that you took care of putting the stuff so it is impossible to get stuck. I appreciate that.

timgarbos 2016-12-12 21:11

Not a cat person, but I did manage to find the cat :)
The controls could use some more love. The character feels a bit drunk and turns when you hit things. Maybe on purpose?

simonhutchinson 2016-12-12 22:28

Cute! Found it!

mrwillowb 2016-12-13 05:33

Too dark!

lekiy 2016-12-13 05:34

Cute little game, found the style pretty pleasing, getting around corners is difficult though.

xesenix 2016-12-13 08:51

Not realistic cat physique :P It needs at least meow when cat is catch and for even more realism claws on your face if you scare it from behind :P
You could name it "Cat(cher)" or "Cat Cher". Graphic look good but game play is rather boring

cushycode 2016-12-13 09:47

@xesenix, oh gosh, your game name is awesome!
Maybe you also right about boring gameplay. I refused many features to submit it as compo. I guess, you know what I'm talking about x)

ironchest 2016-12-13 12:24

For some undisclosed reasons I liked that I got to play as a naked santa...
I found the cat three times, but one time the little bastard got away!
Nice work!

p4nurge 2016-12-13 14:16

Caught it! Fun concept and nice visuals. A little sound would have gone a long way, even if it were just footsteps and meowing. I appreciated the festive mood. :)

mordokay 2016-12-13 14:54

Fun game and really like the use of the theme! The 3D graphics are also very good ...
The one thing I have to point out is that game finishes too fast and the controls would be better using a mouse for movement(but that's my opinion :P).
Good Job!

sepharoth213 2016-12-13 16:36

Short, sweet, and to the point. Its length contributes most of the humor, which is great, it fits well within the medium of a Ludum Dare game, and aptly the effort clearly went into making the models look just as cheeky and inviting as the game is. Great job!

soundless_dev 2016-12-13 23:50

Graphics looked pretty bad and controls were annoying. I found the kitty though :3

ueki_shurei2006 2016-12-14 10:26

Nice graphics, felt a little too easy. If you could kill the ambient light so the only light source is the flashlight, I bet it would be better. Otherwise, I don't need the flashlight to find the cat.

digitaldude555 2016-12-14 16:41

I thought the graphics were just fine, maybe the character was a bit bland. Game play not much too it, I never got stuck on any objects, so collisions were better than in my game lol. Not much to it other than finding the cat. Now onto the biggest problem with the game. You don't actually need the flashlight to see the cat, you just scan the room and go to the cat, I feel you should have made the player rely on the flashlight more.

ethankennerly 2016-12-15 04:16

When I lit up the chairs in the room I was impressed by your models and lighting. When I caught the cat I was content.

nexus64 2016-12-15 20:37

It's a good start for a game, but it needs more mechanics because right now it ends very quickly.

Maybe some kind of score system based on how quick you found the cat or a randomized room.

Keep working on it.

mr-madcat-2 2016-12-15 21:17

Interesting idea.
A bit short, but that is okay for a game jam.
It sometimes felt a bit weird how you bump into objects.
But quite an enjoyable hunt.
Here is the cat for you :) ^---^________|

cerno_b 2016-12-15 22:21

The trick is to look for a cat that is not black, but brown. :D

Initially I found the cat by accident because I was standing right next to it when I tried what happens when I press space. When I knew what the cat looked like, it was fairly easy to find it a second time.

Graphics were nice. Movement could have been a bit faster and mouse support for swinging the flashlight around might help the game pick up the pace. A moving cat could counter the decreased difficulty by having faster light movement.

mmason 2016-12-16 03:03

I enjoyed the hide and seek vibe, also it's been a while since I've played with tank style controls.

The flashlight isn't really necessary, you can see the cat in the dark, maybe only show the cat when the flashlight is on it.

dunin 2016-12-17 11:35

NIce graphics but weird controls...
Shadows are really cool...
I don't really understand why I search a cat in a black room, is it an expression?

xclementx 2016-12-17 20:16

Really nice game, couldn't find the cat... Could be fun if the light decreases with the time.

rockhoppergames 2016-12-19 14:53

A very simple game, and the cat wasn't as black as I was looking for, but the starry background was absolutely gorgeous!

Why did we even need to chase down the cat anyway, though? Wouldn't it come running as soon as we put out some food?

mrshoestore 2016-12-19 16:35

My first round, I found the cat in a couple seconds, but my next round I spotted him and then stumbled into furniture. By the time I got there he was gone! Really fun idea. I think it would have been awesome with eerily slow Christmas music and sfx. If you have a post comp version, it would be fun if the cat meows and gets away after you catch him a couple time in one round and then 3-4 catches in a row makes you a winner. The noise from stumbling into furniture should scare the cat to a new spot.
Fun stuff!

hamsternator 2016-12-19 18:44

I found the cat, TWICE! ;D

An interesting concept but the lack of any sound is unfortunate. It's a bit too easy to get stuck on objects but otherwise the game is pretty solid ^^

maple 2016-12-22 08:12

I found the cat... Yaaaaaaay...!

Haha, good job

dssiege11 2016-12-23 21:07

Is was quite easy catching the cat so the game didn't last long. The graphics are nice though :)

minato4th 2016-12-26 16:59

I find the cat!!!
This very interesting idea, one thing what i will change is movement on room.
Go ahead and try to do more levels)

jezzamon 2016-12-27 11:49

Simple, but not too shabby.

That is one creepy cat though... as soon as you look away, he teleports? Crazy!

As some people mentioned, the controls could use some work. I think the character should be able to move a bit faster (you could make the room larger to balance this out). It feels too slow. Also,

Finally, the game could really use some sound effects! It's really easy to make some quickly with something like sxfr.

From the looks of things, you might be better focusing more on adding interesting gameplay and less on making different 3D graphics. Particularly as I could barely see most of it in the dark!
