City Mayhem starts out as a slow and peaceful game where you jump around wielding a gun in each hand and shooting at whatever you like. People explode in confetti when dying and cars jump around on the roads. This instantly sets the trippy and humorous setting of the game. You're welcomed by the most annoying tune in the world playing on repeat, as you're set to rob banks and steal money. The more banks you rob, the more cops come after you.
The first enemies you encounter are slow and useless, but as you progress through the game, more difficult enemies come after you. After robbing a couple of banks, you start becoming fond of the annoying tune that you hated at first. You might even be humming along. It wasn't until this stage of the game that the game actually became challenging and really fun to play. It didn't feel like the same game anymore. Turns out that, being chased by multiple SWAT teams coming in from all different directions while wielding two fully automatic assault rifles and avoiding all the bullets and enemies that are scattered all over your screen, is pretty damn fun. It was also at this point that I realized that the creators chose to include the word "Mayhem" in their title.
Obviously, the game is rather unfinished and buggy, but the small/silly details, the challenging gameplay and the odd art style is what nails it for me. Oh, and a special shout out to the programmer that had to do the art himself!
This entry is amazing. I love the goofy music on top of the goofy game. The silly broken 3d on the cars is hilarious, the clipping of the buildings is hilarious. I thought this game was really fantastic. Nice job!

I liked the funky jumping and graphics. It was pretty fun! I feel like there should be a way to gain health.

Things start to get interesting when SWAT shows up.
If there's something that we could spend the tons of gold on, that would be amazing.

Hah, I love the mood set by the jumping, warped cars and the music! ;) The gameplay feels like a very reduced version of GTA-style games, and invokes some fun memories. And I agree, it gets challenging rather quickly. I *also* love the ending line! :P Honestly, can't think of much to improve - thanks for making this! \o/
Also, thanks for your detailed feedback on "Spring Clean - DO NOT CROSS"! <3

This game is great fun with amazing cartoony style! My only gripe is that it doesn't play fullscreen, so sometimes when I accidentally go outside the window boundaries the game gets disrupted.

Ha, this was pretty funny. I like the warped bouncing cars that you can drive around with. Would have certainly liked to have some use for the money you collect, but luckily the challenge amps up when the SWAT arrives.
Very good effort, well done!

Had a great time looting the city :D It's pretty impressive that only one person made both art and programming for this game. Good job!

Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecGDWM6QdpE
