Super funny game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/TFsh4EsXErU), if you’d like to take a look :)

This is a monday morning simulator.

Really fun, humorous and well designed. Gameplay is frustrating until you get a feel for it at which point it just becomes entertaining.

Really nice work and nice use of the small world concept! I definitely enjoyed my time as a destructive friendly cube with his own personal entrance at his job!

smbe19 2017-05-01 14:23

While there is not much to do it still is really fun to play. The giant is kinda cute when he clumsily "walks" around and shatters all the windows. Just to imagine such a giant square rolling through the city...

I would love to see more chapters in the future.

nervous-composers 2017-05-01 16:32

It's a really cute game! Even though there's almost no dialogue or story, the experience made me empathize with the poor giant as he stomped his way through the city on his way to work, breaking everything along the way.

khorm 2017-05-01 16:33

Love the menu with really slick transitions and I can't really explain why but the grey simple blocky graphics was really appealing to me- it had some great polished touches with the windows shattering, clean phyics etc. And somehow it had a perfect representation of what a normal work-day sometimes feels like for me - some great humour splashed in.

zarkonnen 2017-05-01 17:35

My favourite so far. Excellent comic timing, and the simplicity of the graphics works too. Polish in the right places in terms of the reaction of the environment to your actions.

kcreanor 2017-05-01 17:51

This is an absolute peach of a game, and a prime example of the best that gamejams can bring out in developers. It's funny, ridiculous, fun and well made, and each new minigame made me chuckle at how monotonous yet entertaining they were. (The eating minigame especially, that was fantastic). So many nice little touches (I bet everyone jumps at the office block to shatter the windows) that it all comes together perfectly. 5/5 well done

ididgame 2017-05-01 17:57

Genuinely funny and sweet game Could use some tightening up in places but other than that no real complaints.

A GIANT HITCH: METAPHOR FOR MODERN LIFE

You wake up. Your alarm blares; you haven't slept well in months. Each day, you feel it more and more, the pulling apart of your soul from your reality. But you carry on, because it is your duty to society. The government child-rearing program raised you that way. You will not give up.

You leave your house, tripping over your favorite childhood toy. It looks so small now, lying there nearly flat on the floor.

You will never experience joy again.

Going outside, a sharp shock of blunt objective truth: you are not normal. It is obvious to everyone. This world is not made for you, though you are cursed to inhabit it. You trundle along the tiny street, destroying others' lives and property by your mere existence. You cannot cease to be yourself without ending yourself, and to do that would be a mortal sin that would send you to Hell. And so, like a CIA prisoner strapped to a chair in an interrogation, you continue to Be and to Suffer.

Finally your arrive at your "work"-place. But it is a cruel facsimile of purpose. They keep you here so as not to admit to themselves that they have produced a vile, unfit Thing. You oscillate between Red and Green, Green and Red, the stop and go of an irregular heartbeat. Some days you just jump up and down on both buttons at once and notice that no one cares; the "work" is done anyway. This is comforting.

Soon you are allowed sustenance. You must march past the others, the normal ones, who stare at you and talk amongst themselves. Your presence brings them comfort at the thought of not being you. You abase yourself before the dispenser of your food, an unpaid intern who hopes to climb the corporate ladder starting below the bottom rung. He throws balls of butter at your face, his disgust palpable with each toss.

After calorie intake, you climb some stairs, forever. When you reach the top, the story ends with no explanation.

Such is human life.

Unique and fun series of mini games. Great story telling and direction with pretty simple graphics. The controls are a bit funny, maybe because of the squareness of the character? For example, the momentum it takes to get going, and not being able to jump consistently while the character is rolling (I guess because they are not grounded at the instant I hit it?) These do not really affect gameplay, but if any more reflex based scenes were come up later, they might good to address. Loved it!

gulyasarni66 2017-05-01 18:00

Really good game! The concept is fun and unique, since almost everyone made a space themed game (including me) The controls were a bit hard for me, but i guess it's the consequence of being a giant! Anyways, great work!

zeantwan 2017-05-01 18:31

Really fun game ! It would've been awesome with music !

geeitsomelaldy 2017-05-01 18:34

Simple and slick. Found it really easy to cheat 'work' by bouncing on both buttons.

coderdozer 2017-05-01 18:35

I love the comedic element of this game, from the character control to the physics and the effects on the environment. The cinematography at the start was cool too.

awesomealliterationalliance 2017-05-01 19:37

Not gonna lie, that was amazing :D I really felt a connection to the giant block! The animation and physics were fun to watch. I do hope that you think about making more chapters. There is a story that needs to be told! --

jasperarmstrong 2017-05-01 21:54

This game is great. It was funny, it controlled well, it looked good and it sounded good. I would love to see more of this. The only things that needed work were that the ui was a little bit weird in some places on a screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and during the eating section, there were a few time where the square's mouth was open when the food got to him but it didn't register.

madmaw 2017-05-02 01:48

I like how the game is presented in an episodic way, which I think is the modern approach to testing a concept. It feels well polished and I liked the story elements as well as the humor, both of which matched the theme very well. My only complaint is that the bits where you were moving between locales felt a bit tedious after a while, but maybe that just highlights the plight of the giant!

fedor 2017-05-02 07:07

Nice game!! You created great story with funny minigames. I've really enjoyed jumping around and shatter all windows. I like the cutscenes you created. It makes your game unique, I've not found anything like that so far. I am a bit disappointment because game is too short. I've wanted to play more but there isn't next level :(

I would like to play more to find out full story about Giant. Well done!!

swamphen 2017-05-02 11:30

I really really enjoyed this. Great use of simple graphics, sound effects, and a single mechanic to create a bunch of interesting effects. It's definitely a shame it's "unfinished", but only because I would have liked more.

santimod 2017-05-02 12:08

Really nice work! Controls are simple, graphics are simple... but the gameplay is great! I would love to play a lot more (minigames ftw).

You could add some more sound effects, there are some parts that would be better with it.

pcmaster 2017-05-03 11:54

Awesome, after I finished Chapter 01, I really wanted more :) I love the concept, simple graphics, sounds, gameplay... everything! You hit the theme pretty well. Congratulations!

unit684 2017-05-03 12:30

Really nice game, I love the simplistic art style. Especially the way glass breaks and things bounce in the air when you jump.

Also, the animations and cutscenes really give the game a polished feel to it. One of my favourites for sure :)

timtipgames 2017-05-03 17:28

Lessons learned: - Work sucks - The small feed the giant - Rolling through life may become difficult if you're a square

Nice game, I enjoyed playing it!

somethinboutgames 2017-05-04 14:17

Top notch humor, love the slow progression of food places to more and more questionable things

The animations were really nice too as they made it feel like a professional production, good job!

Also: isn't his job kind of what us programmers do? Pressing buttons all day...

dom-harris 2017-05-04 14:45

Interesting take on the theme, well put together and nicely animated. Fun once you got the hang of movement, and the minigames were well implemented but in my opinion lasted a little too long. Good job :D

huek 2017-05-04 15:56

Really charming, with a lot of little details that really brought the game to life for me. When the simplest of mechanics (rolling around) is both fun and a source of humor, you know you've done something right. Great job!

noddingtortoise 2017-05-05 11:06

Really cool game, with some really good humour, I loved how the windows smashed and monitors bounced when the player jumps. The mini games were great, simple but very fun. I think the audio could do with some more work, but otherwise overall a very good game.

sean-s-leblanc 2017-05-07 02:02

This is a funny little entry, nice job!

Some minor criticisms: - you can finish the work segment by just placing yourself on both buttons and jumping - the lunch segment was far too long for how simple the interaction was

slowian 2017-05-12 22:27

Great game with pretty good take on humor, interesting story and well matched physics implementation (making all other co-workers jump was very fun to do ). I'm looking forward to next chapters.

I've noticed one little thing - in the main menu info, there are correct keys for movement, but in game there are also w and s keys that are not used ingame.

generictoast 2017-05-13 03:06

@slowian Thanks for playing! Yea i didn't realize i made that mistake about the keys until much later

devpaul 2017-05-13 23:24

Cool Game! I think this is a very good interpretation of the theme! Nice work adding music and sounds to it while doing this in compo time! Feels like there is more to it, you should create a post jam version !

simplepotential 2017-05-13 23:30

Mechanically interesting. Loved the glass breaking.

caterein 2017-05-13 23:51

This was a very cute, funny game. I cracked up at "Food for Giants." I did notice that I was able to cheese the work segment by positioning myself in between the two buttons and jumping, but I thought both tasks were overall really fun. Well done! :)

teammonumental 2017-05-14 01:08

Definitely the funniest game I've played so far(I think you nailed the theme too). The game feels complete and very polished. The sounds are great and add a lot of atmosphere to the game. The story telling is very good, especially considering you used no text box/dialogue. It's rare for people to be able to explain a concept/story without the player having to read anything. The art, although simple, works very well and all objects in the scene are very recognizable. The minigames were great and just added to the humor and story of the Giant. The destruction and animations were excellent, just like the scene transitions. Great job overall, you are good at making games and I would love to see more levels added in the future!

kate-kligman 2017-05-14 01:42

- The intro pacing & zooms are well done, so is the brief tutorial that meshes with the gameplay. - It's fun to roll around as a square. I like how most objects shake after jumps. - The color / gameplay transition on the staircase to the cantina is cool. - Great use of humor, two doorways: one for giants, one for regular squares, the ending, etc.

clickmation 2017-05-14 05:54

Hilarious game. My face hurts from all the smiling. Interactions with the world(Windows breaking etc) was a good stress relieving element. This is one of my highest rated game. Great job and Good luck!! I hope to see more chapters, interactions and gameplay!

dusho 2017-05-15 20:02

wow.. amazing game. Also all those details - shaking things, broken windows - just perfect :) Those mini games and that movement mechanics was really fun. Very nice game!

madalaski 2017-05-17 11:06

Definitely one of the best games from this jam. Very impressed.

ryte2byte 2017-05-17 17:24

It looks like I played and rated your game a while ago, but forgot to leave some feedback. Whoops!

This was a fun romp! I'm intrigued by the notion of a 'walking simulator' (rolling simulator? Thumping sim?) interspersed with quick little no-fail mini-games like your lunch or work sequences. Its a great way to add a little variety without adding complexity.

Sure, this title is fun and charming, but my favorite part was how you reinforced the sense of scale throughout. The kaiju-esque flop down Main Street is easily the standout, but the thump and screen shake presented across the whole journey cemented the... reality of your character's girth. Even the lunch mini-game plays to how much it takes to feed Giant.

It was amusing to ride along with this absurd character on his ordinary day. I loved it!
