hi
Nice theme )
The game broke at the start since I customize the resolution. It's a good idea. Nice work!
Downloaded and couldn't play :( It says it's not compatible with my windows (I am guessing it requires Win 64bits or something) So sad, I would have loved to check it out, it looks great!
I messed up, forgot to make it compatible with all resolutions, right now it works right only on 1280x720 :(
The game is really nice, thematically pretty solid. I haven't finished all the way through yet, though. I had a really good laugh at this:

Note though, the game does not at all work under certain resolutions (see 1680x1050 windowed).
What... what did I just play? It's was very moody and nice looking, but a bit hard to control the character and find clues.
Thank you so much!
Graphics and sound are nice, but I was having issues with clicking on objects, sometimes I would have to mash the left click button to get it to work.
I'm sorry but I burst out laughing when I clicked the picture of his wife.
Nice graphics!
A detective point and click game with nice pixel art? Instant click. I liked the simple system that shows you there's a near clue, but sometimes I couldn't click the object. And I have to say I solved the mystery instantly when they said the murderer was drunk, but it was still fun to play and the music matched the atmosphere. Very nice work.=]
I had a seriously hard time figuring out what to do until I somehow got the green shirt twice, and it let me through the door. I have no clue what was supposed to happen... Played again, same thing, got the shirt twice, and the picture. I'm not very observant, but if I was supposed to find something else and I found it easier to cheat, there's a problem. Besides the bug, the music was nice, pixel art was good, walk animation was problematic though. I like the idea of the story, but I knew right away the ending. With a little work, it could be great.
I was enjoyable it but got confused about what to do after I found the dead body. Eventually I gave up.
The music was great and the pixel art was on point. Did I mention how nice the pixel art was?
thanks a lot for the feedback everyone
@cymansap and I apologize for the sloppy gameplay, the art took me so much time that I couldn't work on the story neither the code well, I wasn't available the whole time too :/ I appreciate the feedback and from now on I know what I'm about to face in my future game jams.
Great graphical look! Took me back to the X-Quest games of the 90s. Nice brooding tongue-in-cheek atmosphere. Good to-the-point writing, that is what you need to get the story rolling.
Controls wise, I feel I sometimes had to be a bit too close to items to be able to click them (obscuring them a bit). I was able to pick up the green shirt twice, which might be a bug? Perhaps at the end you could do a twist in the story. (your dead wife did it?)
All in all, lots of potential!
This is the type of game I love. I really enjoyed the graphics, it's just a little bit difficult to click on items, you might also want to enable not doing full screen as it stretches out the graphics and i'm not sure the collision is scaling with it.
But if you choose to continue this game, let me know! i'll love to play more of it.
Lovely work :) I hope this is not the last time we see this work (as in, please make this a full size game, you have your first customer here for sure.)
Cool and moody, but controls are really.. not obvious ;)
Touchy controls aside, the game has great potential. The pixel art is very nicely done, and the ambient audio has the appropriate mood. Very promising for developing further!
Please do check out my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/riskreward
Very nice style, I like your pixelart a lot! Hope you keep working on this to turn it into a more fully developed game! Impressive what you did on your own in 48h!
As the others already mentioned, controls and click-areas need some work and the plot could be longer/better, but those are basically complains for a full game - for the LD version you did some fantastic work here!
nice art, ambience, point and click gmae. however some difficulty in selecting the clues.
You nailed the art and mood, good humor too!
The music and story is good.
Ideas for improvement: - Left mouse click make the detective walk to the location, but only when the mouse is not over a object that the player can interact with. - When the mouse is over a interoperable object, chance the mouse cursor, so the player can see what they can interact with. - Left mouse click on interoperable object, do the interaction. Right mouse click chance what you can do with the object, for example look at the object, take it or something else. - When you collected a clue, make the detective tell what it is.
Nice art and sound. The story, although highly predictable, was entertaining and I wanted to keep playing. It could use some polishing, but overall is a great entry. Congrats ;)
Good game ! The story is too predictable I think and I had a few issues to take the clues.. I had to click ten times per object to get the clue.. A little more sounds could have been great :)
The art looks great and the music sets a nice mood for the game. However the story was too simple and easy to predict from the start. The controls were fine, but left clicking was a bit buggy. I think it'd much more enjoyable with a few changes, like other users have commented, but it was a great idea.
Overall a nice gameplay presentation, it could be the start of a demo :) I didn't really understood how I got the second green shirt, as I was randomly wandering trying to find that last clue.
Graphics are wonderful, good job sir !
I really like it!
Very nice art.
I walked through the first door. Then found a picture, and couldn't get any further. I looked for the next object for quite some time without success, and then I got bored.
It's a very ambitious game in such short time, so I understand if it isn't finished.
Great contribution non the less!
I think there's a lot of potential here. You've set up a really decent point and click system, but like you said, you didn't have much time for a complicated puzzle. With a full length story, you could have a marketable game. Keep up the good work!
Love the graphics and atmosphere. Some of the clicking game play was a bit frustrating, but was able to find all the clues and finish. Ending was a bit abrupt.
I liked the art work and the ambiance was pretty solid. The clicking was very wonky and I had to spam click on things to try and pick stuff up. I really don't see how this has anything to do with the theme, however, and the ending made me scratch my head.
So basically, the music, art, and such were really solid, but the game play was very lacking.
I really love the art. Its a good start, there are some small problems, like the character floating above the ground outside, but in general its nice. As you written, the controls need to tweaks, and mane like in other point and click games, you need some different cursor icons.
I finished it :) Good job! I like the graphics :) The movement was also okayish. Btw it rendered ok @ 2560x1440.
This seems like a cool game. Unfortunately, I can't complete it as the bottom of the screen is covered (when compared to your screenshots) so I'm probably missing some important thing on the ground. I did enjoy what I could play though and am disappointed I couldn't finish it.
The pixel art looks very nice and is generally easy to read. The music is great and help sets the tone of the game very well. The controls are pretty dodgy, though: You need to be very close to interact with something but you can't click on things if the character is in the way which leads to some frustration.
Finally got around playing your game! It's quite cool. - The controls were a bit unreliable. It was relly difficult click on some of the clues for somereason. - The art is good, well done. - The audio creates a nice mood for the game. - The story was really predictable, but otherwise it was a fun experience. :D - @jk5000 had some really good improvement suggestions. You should totally do a post LD version with improved controls.
I've been planning to play this game for sometime and I'm glad I did. Story games are really fun to play and I like that you only need a mouse to play, however it seemed that the character was in the way for some of the clues which made it hard to click on them and sometimes no text would appear, not sure if that was intentional.
The graphics worked well, the walking animation could have been better but I didn't really notice it that much. The music and sound was very good and without it, the game would have felt very empty.
I'd really like to see a extended version of this game, this is a start of something that could be expanded in many ways and include plot twists and such. Great job!
Hey! I played this on stream - It was great!
I had fun finding out the ending and playing this point and click (chat helped me I was abit slow!!!)
One thing that had me abit lost was finding out what to interact with - It would be useful to have a hover over text description of the items (I saw the exclamation above the head but even then there are alot of items near me :sob:
For the post-jam version I think the story needs to be fleshed out a tad bit more - The twist was excellent but predictable as many other commenters have said, maybe a chapter format with the 3 clues in each one - Great work on having 3 slots it made me think "there's only one more thing left"
It was a great game! Loved the mood you set it made for an amazing experience :yum:
The story and idea is nice and really good graphics. You should improve the gameplay - its very weired that you switched the mouse buttons for walking / picking ;)
Keep on.
Very nice game! A little bit bugged and very short but I liked it very much. Especially the mood. It's way too short!
Our team does a weekly indie gamedev podcast called Nice Games Club, and we just did a Let's Play episode where we played thirty-six (!!) Ludum Dare 40 games, including yours (which we thought was hilarious)!

A very atmospheric game! The graphics and audio were spot on, and the amount of content was impressive. Both the objects, the various people and the backgrounds were clear and distinct.
As you mentioned, the gameplay suffered a bit from the lack of content. That being said, the interactions with the world, and the descriptions of the various objects worked well. This would be a solid basis for further development.
UI-wise, the game could be improved a bit with some further quality of life features. For instance, being able to examine the collected clues, and highlighting (or changing the cursor) when moving over interaction hotspots in the world. The exclamation mark highlighting important objects worked ok, but you often had to reposition yourself in order to actually click on the items in question.
This was an interesting story, with impressive graphics and mood!
