This was pretty fun! I do get more "tower defense" than "chess" vibes. I really like the creativity, and the look of the main title! It's definitely a unique combo, and I found it really difficult.

So, you know, I took this 2 hour-course about loli-chess...

Game is pretty hard! But the polish is awesome. Maybe some pieces aren't moving correctly? Like I feel the horse for example, takes some turns before moving correctly?

Awesome experience :D

Lovely graphics, challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXJupUD8gt4

really interesting game! the graphics are great, except for that its hard to tell when you have a piece selected. The music is pretty nice too

the gameplay however just seems unfair to me. maybe im missing something, like a way to generate more ener-gears, but it feels like there's no way to place pieces fast enough to hold back a few seconds of waves. even if you only place pawns, they spawn way quicker than you'd ever be able to hold back.

Other than that, i thought it was cool! nice job

Gampleay concept is very fun, although very difficult, I couldn't get to spawn the last character. The art was cute but it felt a bit inconsistent...like it's chess, but also papercuts, but also with metal stuff... I feel it would benefit from picking a single direction since the execution is so well done. Like if everything was papercuts, or if everything was metallic, etc

What was the record again? :smirk_cat: 2018-05-11 19_21_19-Baka-Pipes.png

The visuals just ooze style, the music the great, there's a lot of polish and the idea is pretty damn solid.

Suggestions/nitpicks: * the difficulty curve is nuts * it would be nice if killing the lolis gave back some energears or if the pieces didn't take damage (although I'd probably prefer the first) to be able to battle the ever-increasing number of them

BTW. Profane looks cool  , givin' ya a follow.

Mad props for the graphics and the music! Couldn't get past 35 waves so I would suggest that you lower the difficulty a tiny bit so one can get around to using other pieces besides the pawn and the knight. I hope you'll push the game further because this idea has a lot of potential. Good job!

Very fun game. Really enjoyed it and really like the art! Only thing is it becomes really difficult really fast.

maymakegame 2018-05-11 21:28

Really cute and fun! I got to 36! The girls were really cute, but they were really hard to get past. Overall, this was a pretty fun game!

daragongames 2018-05-11 23:36

This game is really great. The only problem I had was that i could not place the pieces fast enough maybe something like drag and drop would have worked better here and the Difficulty was going up to fast. I like how well the two genres and stilles got mixed. Sound and graphics are both really good. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Nice idea with chess movement! It's a pity that you can't realize it's potential, cause almost ever resources end in the thirty wave. Also queen has too little health for her cost. Actually pawns are the best buy (cost/health), cause you dont need to move forward anyway.

nervous-composers 2018-05-12 04:15

good concept, graphic and music! too bad its too difficult, max i reached was 37 but usually i cant get past 34. nice and cute.

doccrazy 2018-05-12 09:17

I think something was wrong with placing the pieces, often nothing would happen when clicking. Also the game seems way to difficult. All the great art, music and polish seems wasted when the average player only sees 10 seconds of it.

linky439 2018-05-12 12:42

I like your game even if it doesn't love me back :p As others pointed out, it gets real hard real fast.

Overall, nice graphics, with a good idea. I did have some trouble correctly placing the pieces, but overall your game is nice and fun. Congrats!

lucas-hoffmann 2018-05-12 21:25

I only survived 29 waves xD I love the graphics!

glimaleite 2018-05-13 21:10

Woah! Congratulations! Really well done. Loved the graphics, loved the concept and execution. It took me a while to figure out how many 'lives' I had, but the second playthrough was a breeze.

Congrats! If you have time, take a look at my entry, hope you find it amusing: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand

Really interesting concept, but in the end pawns are the best unit since they are the most efficient? The game wasn't so much "difficult" per se, more that there's no winning strategy and there's no point to using any unit other than the pawns.

Maybe something like units can attack the spots that they can move to in chess without losing any hearts, but they lose health if enemies run into them directly? Not sure...but right now the design doesn't really work. Great presentation though.

epb9000 2018-05-14 18:30

That was pretty great. I loved the art. The response on unit spawning felt a little sluggish, but not sure if that was just my computer being my computer.

aei 2018-05-14 18:42

That was pretty fun, even though I didn't get past wave 27 after soo many tries. I sometimes had problems to see if I have selected figure or not. I think it would be great idea to give like 1 energy point for killing figure.

lagpu 2018-05-14 19:57

The game is cool, the art is great too. It tends to be very hard next to impossible at some point (I ended with wave 37 iirc), and I couldn't test some of the pieces, using the pawns almost all the time. But that can be solved easy :P

mowztouch 2018-05-15 00:57

I liked it, nice concept, good use of the theme, you managed to do something original, well done ;)
