Interesting concept but I don't really see what I'm doing other than shooting the black holes.

cmlsc 2016-12-12 16:37

I have to agree with zeoxo. :P

kd7uiy 2016-12-13 03:47

Very interesting, it could turn in to something, but right now there just isn't a lot to do. Keep at it, you might end up with something!

mrwillowb 2016-12-13 05:23

The gameplay was rather simple, but for your first entry, nice effort.

boxedmeatrevolution 2016-12-14 08:18

Unique mechanics, although I thought it wasn't great how your score was tied to how many times you shot the black holes, since it encouraged just shooting the black holes over and over again. Maybe it would have been better if you got score for steering the black holes to target locations or something like that.

Also, I'm not really sure how this game ties into the theme.

menip 2016-12-15 00:19

@BoxedMeatRevolution you are right :)
I just had this idea for mechanics, and came up with scoring system late. Same reason for it being in space. Built with placeholder art, once I added space I guess it was so "One room" anymore.

bigpan 2016-12-15 00:54

Very objective gameplay, and space themed, I liked it! Congratulations and keep making games.

masterkrepta 2016-12-15 00:56

This is a great start. I think if the actual collision of the black holes had some sort of impact on the game world you could take this idea even further

zawdit 2016-12-15 01:00

Not bad for a fist game, I think your score should of just been time survived.

menip 2016-12-15 18:23

@Zawdit You are right :)
I think I was gonna do that but then didn't for whatever reason... :P

mdelally 2016-12-15 18:42

Excellent job for your first finished game.

tylerraz 2016-12-16 19:16

Orbiting around is good, and figuring out the shots is a good challenge.

ibispi 2016-12-16 21:13

An innovative concept (I haven't seen anything like this before), that could be explored more. It gets a bit stale once you figure out what you have to do and nothing changes in the level, but it's a LD game so it's more like a good prototype than a game. I liked it still.

dusho 2016-12-16 22:15

great idea :) simple, but great mechanic

dietzribi 2016-12-16 23:25

Interesting mechanic, I think it would be better to just show do the tutorial inside the game because it's fairly simple. I know I hate tutorials so I first got into the game, had no idea what was going on, went to the tutorial to understand and then back into the game.
The mechanic has potential, but currently the game is a bit lacking and get's old pretty fast.

weeping-rupee 2016-12-17 00:28

Good first entry!

Pros:
-Its simple and easy to get the hang of right off the bat.
-The inclusion of a tutorial was nice; something we don't see often enough in the slap-dash prototyping of Ludum Dares

Cons:
-It isnt always clear the difference between what my left and right click is going to do. I get that one effects the rotation and the other direction, right? However in play its hard to tell at times whether I should fire at one that's close to me because I'm unsure of how this will change the movement exactly.

-The background debris is kind of a distraction as they stand out more than the black holes do

Suggestions:
Since we're on a circular treadmill anyway why not make the player slowly spiral inwards towards that sun in the middle. This way the game could have an end state rather than just be about racking up more points and infinitely surviving. Plus I think it would make survival alot harder as the game went on.

Overall: nice job for your first entry, keep it up :)

PS: I noticed you mentioned the Itch.io link on my game was not working. It's fixed now if you wanna check it out :)

menip 2016-12-17 04:31

@dietzribi
Thanks for that idea! Didn't even cross my mind to have tut in that way. Will do from now on :)

menip 2016-12-17 05:05

@Weeping Rupee
Thanks for the thorough feedback :)

ednei 2016-12-18 00:56

Good concept!

cushycode 2016-12-20 16:03

Nice concept, pretty cool graphics and sounds.
Score increases in a really weird way, but I'm ok with that x)
Btw, I don't know how this game relates to the jam theme.
Anyway, good job!

reiv 2016-12-21 05:51

Interesting concept. In my opinion, the score could be tied to the time you was able to survive without being hit by the black holes. Nice game! When you get the hang of it is really fun!

tommarx69 2016-12-26 16:42

The embedded link doesn't work, had to click on the "web" button.
Cool shooting mechanic, but I hadn't succeed to avoid black holes.
Maybe you could add some features.

tommarx69 2016-12-26 16:44

Ok sorry I didn't see the tutorial ! So I understood how to avoid black holes !

m2tias 2017-01-02 21:05

I don't really see how it's related to the theme, but it's a fun little game. Took a while to get the idea behind controls, but after that it got pretty easy. The music was really nice! Well done for a first game :)

dollarone 2017-01-02 23:02

Cool idea. Would be fun to have other objects to experiment with!

I got a bit better after a few tries, but its hard to anticipate exactly where you'll be when!
