Stunning graphics, I wish the particles stuck around for a bit longer after the title screen. Gameplay was fun as well as polished. Nice work!

a624t 2021-04-27 02:08

I'm impressed with this. It's very engaging.

miej 2021-04-27 02:12

got to the bottom!

jogy34 2021-04-27 02:17

Nice and relaxing game. I liked the background music and it was a really nice touch to have people talking to you when you've reached certain depths.

zfert 2021-04-27 02:17

Really cool game! I liked the twist at the end. I unfortunately couldn't open the menu and build shelters though.

adnonymous5 2021-04-27 02:22

Wow. This is super cool. The little audio bits were unexpected and kept me wanting to go further down! Very unsettling and cool mood with using those bits of dialogue and music. I think the tiles all looked really cool individually, but maybe a little disjointed. I also am a little unsure about why I'm collecting materials. But overall, super cool and made me want to keep playing!

scott-steffes 2021-04-27 02:28

I liked the atmosphere! I couldn't get the Q menu to come up, though. Was I supposed to be able to mine blocks 1 above me, or not?

woahitsjeff 2021-04-27 02:30

@ceejap duly noted, more snow particles = better

@a624t thank you, glad you liked it!

@miej well done :smirk:

@jogy34 I'm happy to hear you enjoyed them.

@zfert snap. I thought I fixed that bug :sob: I'll have to look into it! Thanks for the report.

@adnonymous5 I'm happy to hear you liked the audio bits and the music  Tiles do look a little disjointed, definitely something to improve on in the future. Materials could be used to build shelter or improve your gathering tool (which will yield more materials upon digging). Thanks for the feedback!

@scott-steffes I thought I fixed the radial menu not opening. Will have to look into it. Thanks for the report! And you shouldn't be able to mine blocks above you... I must have forgotten about that

edgeboyo 2021-04-27 11:36

Super nice and fun arcade game. There were some minor bugs but nothing insanely removing you out of the atmosphere. Good job!

thejonu 2021-04-27 15:31

The radial menu didn't feel like showing up, but it was possible to beat the game without it. Apart from that, really impressed. The voice messages are a nice touch. The powerful bass later in the soundtrack caught me completely off guard!

woahitsjeff 2021-04-27 21:23

@edgeboyo Thanks for the feedback! Debugging and fixing bugs is definitely something I need to improve on.

@thejonu Radial menu has a mind of its own apparently  I'll be looking into it to make it more reliable! I'm glad you liked the VOs and the 808

doctortm 2021-04-28 12:29

Nice jam! Interesting that I couldn't dig up, only deeper and deeper XD nice graphics and audios!

awesomezebra 2021-04-28 13:21

Very interesting game, definitely enjoyed it. Took me a few tries to complete it, because I kept forgetting to keep an eye on my energy.

I found a few bugs also: - The first playthough I couldn't open the radial menu (next ones it worked) - When you have already mined something (like food) and run out, every time you mine it again you get the introductory pop-up as if you mined it the first time - Last two minerals had ??? as names - Once when I was upgrading the tool, it showed me the upgrade materials twice

Overall, a really nice game, small bugs here and there are definitely expected for such a short time frame game.

woahitsjeff 2021-04-28 22:31

@doctortm thanks!

@awesomezebra thank you so much for putting that list together! I'll add them to my list  I'm glad you enjoyed it

garys 2021-05-02 01:50

This was pretty cool. It took me a few tries to make it all the way to the bottom. It could be frustrating having to wait for the energy to regenerate as it seemed to happen very often. I found I was best off searching for food most of the way. Also, the crafting seemed to require dirt, and there didn't seem to be any more after the first bunch near the top. Still, I enjoyed this - the audio was great and that child's voice is _creeeepy!_ Good entry.

woahitsjeff 2021-05-02 02:04

@garys I hear ya! A balance pass is definitely required and something I intend to do down the line. I'm currently working on adding spawns for all materials at different depths, though this will likely not be in for the jam, as I consider it a new feature. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback!

jryzkns 2021-05-02 04:01

Pretty cool game, I like the premise and you've given it a solid execution! I have a slight suggestion regarding this game, and that is to make different layers have a greater variety of materials from other layers. The reason why I am suggesting this is that by the time I got to the corite layer, I couldn't build any more shelters because I have no more dirt, which was no longer available long ago. This lead me to fail that round, but because I now know about this, I am inclined to just stick around in a layer and get a whole bunch of the materials that are only available in that layer, then go straight down and do the same (I think that's kind of metagaming). I think doing some improvements in this regard will allow and encourage a more engaged playstyle

woahitsjeff 2021-05-03 01:08

@jryzkns I'm glad you liked it! That's something I've done post-jam. Since it isn't exactly a bug fix, I'm holding off on updating the game on itch.io for the moment, but you're absolutely right. It's unfortunate I didn't do it prior to submitting the game  Thanks for the feedback!

fernando-tonon-de-rossi 2021-05-16 20:21

Nice game, I'd like to play it only using keyboard. I liked the SFX
