34:44... this has been the most frustrating half an hour this year. Congrats :D
Pretty cool. Love the variety of weapons, although the second one is OP against the boss.
Wow, great game! Definitely one of my favourite so far. The end boss was way too easy though.
For me the game window was not filling the whole area and the sound was weirdly laggy, but otherwise a pretty nice game. Can't say it's an amazing concept, but I had fun playing it nevertheless and isn't that the whole point? :D
Wow, great job. Creating the assets alone would've taken me 5 days. I also managed to get softlocked in battle (maybe "retreat" button for these situations?), but maybe a good thing, because otherwise I'd probably spent way too much on the game :D
Looks really interesting, but I keep getting these types of errors in console:
``` No such uniform named "isUi"
glError in file C:\GL\Project-0\glUtils.cpp, line 47: invalid operation
glError in file C:\GL\Project-0\glUtils.cpp, line 50: invalid operation ```
Perhaps I am doing something wrong?
I'll try it later when I'm home :)
@lorwon Got the game working on my own PC with dedicated GPU. Great job on making your own engine, looks dope. The gameplay is a bit dull (but I guess that is expected, as you had to create the engine within the time as well). It ran well for me, but took me a while to figure out the keys. Would be great if you added some info about it (and maybe about the game goal) on the gamejam page.
For anyone else having key trouble, for me - W moved me forward - S switched forward direction - J and L moved me left and right
Maybe there are other keys, but I didn't find those.
@lorwon Yes, you are correct. Somehow I missed it, my bad.
The game is cute, but I agree with azakharov, it's a bit too easy. Nevertheless, a great submission!
Pretty cool idea. The sound and art are really great. I don't know if that is intentional, but you can hold space to start hypnotizing and then just move really far away to escape the police, which makes the game really easy. I assumed at the start that you have to stay in range. Also, would be great if you could hypnotize everyone in certain range (assuming that you have to keep them in range throughout the process) for that big risk-big reward. Overall, really nice game!
Haha, this gets max points in humor from me :D Good job!
Great visuals and sound! If the game had a little bit more content, it'd be a really cool game to play. Too bad no one was online for me to try the multiplayer feature. But yeah, impressive you got that done in 72 hours!
Nice idea! Is the level endless or does it end at some point? I tried to make it to bottom but couldn't :D
Really fitting soundtrack and the game looks pretty good. I did have some annoyances with controls, as I didn't manage to figure out why sometimes the ghost stopped at 90 degrees and I had to press the opposite key to keep turning. Maybe it's intentional.
Also, the speedup of the ghost was slightly annoying, as I would just bop the bottom of the screen and start from zero and then speed up to faster than autoscroll again and so on. Maybe having it so that when you exceeed a certain speed the screen also speeds up would solve this, but I'm not sure.
Overall, nice submission :)
A pretty interesting idea submitting a card game. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to play it with, but just by looking at the documentation, seems to be a bit linear. For an interesting game I think it would need more mechanics. Also, not sure about theme, as I couldn't find a relevance to "Deeper and deeper".
Overall, still a nice idea and I can see that decent thought has gone into creating this :)
Damn, the spiders are creepy.
Very nice atmosphere for the game. The crossbow was a bit lack-luster. Overall a really nice game.
Great game! Pretty difficult indeed, but who doesn't like a little challenge. Can't find anything wrong with the game, hope you do well in the competition!
The soundtrack is a bit weird. But nice job creating procedurally generated stuff!
Wow, it took me forever to complete the last level. The zoom-in after timer runs out killed me every time.
Overall, really nice game, looks polished and was actually fun. There's something about the graphics that I really liked (maybe the grainy effect). One gripe I'd have is that I felt several times that the character should've jumped but didn't. But still, great job!
Really nice style. In addition to previous comments I'd add that I kept getting softlocked when having to jump upwards on platforms (as I'm lazy with my spacebar and the character kept jumping right after landing, destroying my next platform).
The sound slider would be nice too, but considering the small timeframe for compo it's okay. Especially since this looks like one of the better polished games out there.
Nice atmosphere for the game. One thing I found weird was that berries "respawn", so instead of 5 I only collected 3 and on the way back got my other 2. Also, didn't notice any increase in berries the further in I went. Still, thoroughly enjoyed the game.
Great intro! I liked that different types of wood made the worm change speed and sound was great also. For a game made in a few days, it's pretty good, but overall would want some more variety in the gameplay.
Very good visuals and an interesting idea. It would've been pretty cool if the forest got darker towards the end, to signify that it's getting deeper and deeper, but that's a small detail.
Really cool idea, feels a bit like Oregon trail. I wish that you had options to choose from when exploring (like risk-reward or play it safe). Right now it's somewhat random, so I can't really control my own fate much.
Otherwise a decent entry, but some comments: - Why are there bricks inside the doctor? - Controls and physics are a bit wonky - Not sure if "feature" or a bug, but when holding the box you can defy physics. I completed the game by just holding the box and jumping with it :D
What a great game! Love it. I was so sure the morse code is hidden in the music, so I kept listening to the beat :D Music is also great. I am not sure about the theme though.
Love it! Although, not sure if the 295$ panda is worth it...
Cute game, but very short.
Visually a great game. Idea is nice too, but I wish it didn't delete the previous commands (unless that was the point of the game?)
What a weird game :D
Very interesting game, definitely enjoyed it. Took me a few tries to complete it, because I kept forgetting to keep an eye on my energy.
I found a few bugs also: - The first playthough I couldn't open the radial menu (next ones it worked) - When you have already mined something (like food) and run out, every time you mine it again you get the introductory pop-up as if you mined it the first time - Last two minerals had ??? as names - Once when I was upgrading the tool, it showed me the upgrade materials twice
Overall, a really nice game, small bugs here and there are definitely expected for such a short time frame game.
Pretty nice game, could use more content, but within the timeframe it's hard, I know.
If I squint my eyes and use some of my imagination, I'd say it looks like a drill.
Sorry, somehow me and Google drive don't agree on what shared means. It should be fixed now :D
@lorwon The flashlight idea was not awfully well polished due to time constraints and my lack of skill, but glad you liked the game :)
Thanks for the comments everyone. I did some further tweaking so perhaps the game is a bit more playable now.
@daegonz Thanks for the feedback. I cleared it up a bit.
@rhoff95 I created Itch.io account, but the WebGL version can have some artifacts, so not sure if it's a good experience.
@arnold-990 Haha, nice!
@bubakgames Thanks :)
@corruptedcomputer Thanks for the feedback, I added the sensitivity slider.
@woahitsjeff No, it's me who is bad. We had very little time at the end to create the actual playable level and test it and one of the last things I made were about adding certain colliders, which I forgot to change to triggers only, so yeah, sorry about that :(
@woahitsjeff (and anyone else who cares) if you want to try to actually beat the game, I uploaded a fixed version to itch.io, but since the bugs were fixed after LDJam time frame, please don't take that version into account when grading the game :) https://awesomezebra.itch.io/into-the-forest-v12-non-ldjam-version
@damagefilter The sound is definitely the part we wish we had spent more time on. @azaliya Thanks :) @erik-brendel Very good points, I think I'll implement them later. I agree that the player should have easier ways of knowing where the threat is.
@juan-matias The idea was about going deeper in the forest. The trees get darker the further inside you go, but since the game doesn't work properly, you can't really see that unfortunately :(
A - B - B for me, definitely not gonna go for S rank. Otherwise a fun (although short game), but I could see two small improvements making it even better. 1) Minimap on the side of the screen 2) A small delay after respawning, as I usually was steering the wrong way from previous fall
Good job though!
