Pretty fun game, graphic and audio are nice too. Possible map layouts are fine, although one was confusing since some platforms were on background layer. Skeletons are overwhelming on flatter layouts, but fine on others. Since it's arcade game, there could be some scoring system, but just amount of portals passed is fine too. Overall it was fun.
Hard but fun

Fun, but a couple things I'd recommend are maybe adding a health bar and potentially removing the ability of skeletons to shoot through terrain, as 2 or 3 skeletons become very overwhelming.

Cute little game, agree with above comments! Start button should probably be disabled after clicking on it, for now it restarts the starting of the game if you click on it again and the slow fade made it hard to know if something happened at first since there is no button click feedback. Minor detail but makes it feel better!
Overall, nice work!

@okamit oh damn, I knew coding this up in the last 5 minutes of the Jam was a mistake. Things like these always slip up right at the end. Thanks, good catch :D

The core of the game is actually really fun, I really like the sound used for attacking, super satisfying! I only wish some of the technical problems were a bit smoothed out. As Okamit mentioned, start button resets on subsequent clicks, which made me think the gameplay was actually clicking the play button in order to keep the screen going out in complete darkness lol. I also managed to lose several times, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what was up. Despite those technical hiccups, I think the core of the game is really satisfying. Not bad!
This entry was pretty fun. I did find the controls made it a bit difficult to play. I noticed the "W" key also jumps. It would have been much easier to use that to jump, and spacebar to Shoot. I had a hard time moving around and using the "Z" key to shoot the scythes. Overall, it's a decent game. I really enjoyed the music, sound, and overall design. As well as the new levels, every time it Restarts. I didn't play enough to see if they are procedurally generated, or picked randomly from a set of premade levels.
Could be a really fun game, with a few minor tweaks :)
I am a sucker for pixel art! Really nicely done graphics, Cheers Arend

Very well done artwork and concept. The sound, whether created or found, fit really well with the game.
The lack of a UI including time, health, etc. would have been a big help in understanding the whole objective. I gathered staying alive was the central point but couldn't understand why I would explore rather than bunker down.
Overall, a fun game

Thanks for the entry! I tried a couple of times, maybe 10x, sometimes other levels were displayed, maybe a bug? I liked the music and the soundeffects and the overall look. I often got stuck at walls as my character would not jump anymore. Also I had no feel of progression really or how much health I had left. But nice particle effects on damage! I hope you do something with the base/engine you created. btw. the game could start immediately after pressing the button. The fade to black feels too long for me.
Movement is a bit buggy. Sometimes you cant jump and walk at the same time. There's also a bug where you keep repeating the fade when spam-clicking the play button too.
Aside from that, great entry. This game reminds me about Terraria.
Hi! The pixel art looks great and the music and sounds are great. Note that at times it didn't shoot, maybe it's part of the design but it feels a bit weird, if so it might be best to put a limit on the shots or an indication in the UI of that. Thanks for giving us feedback on our game and doing the live stream with xD (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/aster-defense). Great job with your game, congratulations!!
Loving the pixel art. I definitely feel the bleak outlook of there being an over-abundance of zombie critters trying to kill us. The music reminded me of a game I loved playing as a kid
+ Music on title screen, maybe add your credits and info about controls + Play button only clickable once on title screen. Since it faded out, it seemed like the button didn't work but might also be because of the speed it fades out too. + Add a reset button as an option separate from being killed + Allow being able to fall off of ledges or jump from it. Sometimes it is hard to discern that you are stuck on a ledge and that is the reason why jumping doesn't work + Controls were a little funky to me but I figure with time I can get used to it. Any WASD controlled game that makes Z an attack makes my pinky sad and scrunches up the hands.
I like what you have going here and I hope you can continue to work on this game
best platformer I've played in the jam so far, awesome submisson
Funny game! Music, the world and level design are great! I think animation of damage and death would be helpful! Thanks for this game!
Wow! It's really hard to survive! Cool!
Great work with the level generation, the AI sometimes fall into holes or get stuck, but having to manage the wave of enemies is quite fun, good job!
