Holy molly!! this game is great! Such platform games live and die by their controls, and this ones are great in your game! I also have to accept the music is really nice. If you actually wanna continue with the game I would advice a Wall-jump option also. One of the top games I have played today
The longest I've spent playing someone else's game today, great job!! I like the fast pace of the movement, and I'm impressed in the level design!

Great game! I played for a long time! I still wanna beat the game, haven't finished yet. Love graphics, sounds and characters! It would be great if the jump height was different based on the jump button pressing.

Personally, I feel that the controls are a tad too responsive, otherwise, a very enjoyable game with decent music.

I love the controls! The fast paced platformer controls makes for reacting to enemies a lot harder than other games! Also love the tutorial and how you freeze time to read the signs.

It's a cool game. It fits the theme. Good job!
Thanks for the awesome feedback :muscle:

This game is really something. The speed at which it plays really puts me in the "speed running" mood and I love it. Any reason to go fast is a good one  A really good job with level design (except I personally do not like purposely placed dead ends and mazes in a platformer, but that's just my opinion). Art was at a pretty good level and did not feel stiff. Enemies are cute and the idea of a fire being put out is awesome. I think banking on the speed running concept would have been a good move, but again, that's just an opinion. Really good job.

Great game. I wish your levels utilized walls a bit more as I found myself bumping into them a lot, kind of similar to SuperMeatBoy. Game feels great to play though, and the art style and camera movement is cleaaaaaannnn.

At first i was like: This ember moves too fast. But the i was like: I love how fast this game is!

Fits the theme. Isn't the only fire-game I've seen so far, but might be the best. Very glad that the water enemies would occasionally drop wood. I might suggest tweaking the enemies that fire water to not hurt you if you run into them (that way you can defeat them). Overall, great project -- thanks for sharing a web version.
A very fast paced platformer. I liked that the game told me that I was running into the wrong direction :D Needed to start over^^

I really enjoyed the speed of the game. But I think the camera should be faster then the player and show what's infront of him instead of behind of him. The animations of the characters are cute and well done. Great job!
Cool game. Flame guy moves really fast which was fun. I often found myself wishing that the level design encouraged me more to leap over enemies with great speed, but I often found that some ledged and cliffs would deliberately slow me down when all I wanted to do was run real fast!

I loved it :) I loved that you got checkpoints along the way and multiple different paths so you can get lost
Neat little platformer. I like the main character and the concept. The levels also felt a bit openworld-ish which was neat, almost Sonic like in that respect. I also like your title screen with the angry fire and water characters, that was nice.
I do feel that the movement is too fast though a little unresponsive. Might work a little better if the character was zoomed out a tad more. Though that can be forgiven given the limited time (I'm going to assume your character uses Unity physics, correct me if I'm wrong). If you ever decide to expand upon this give something like Prime31's 2D character controller a look https://github.com/prime31/CharacterController2D. That approach gives you a lot more accuracy and control over your 2D platformer character movement which is key.
Great job though, the world needs more cool playformers!
The controls are a bit off. Maybe having options to allow controls to work. Would be cooler if there were more things to burn

cool platformer, the sprites are cute in their on way. nice work!
 Ok more stuff to burn... Thanks for getting us to 20 ratings! We really appreciate it :v:
it'S FAST! maybe a bit too much but it stands out. maybe camera should be a bit more far away as i often find myself getting lost because I can't see much

great game definently could see on cool math games!

Nice amount of content you got here :) There could be more checkpoints. It would be nice if character was burning like a fire animation. gj
Cute little game. The movement was responsive but this had the downside of a slightly less responsive camera, so I felt like I was running away from myself a little bit. I like the tutorial panels to explain what was happening. I'm not sure the music looped properly - it was also a touch repetitive.
Nice snappy little platformer with charming graphics. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your entry!
Clever setting concept! Classic platformer experience, checkpoints is a nice touch. One thing – for me was not so good to pass through some level part to meet dead end with "bad luck" poster :\

I loved this game. The fast-paced nature and fluent controls have a really nice feel, and the art is quite good-looking as well. This was really fun. One criticism: when you die there is a massive camera shake. Maybe tone it down a little. Overall this was a great game.
I enjoyed this game - a classic platformer with checkpoints. I found the "click left mouse button" to fire tricky while moving. It would have been better to have fire assigned to the keyboard.
Great concept, fun gameplay. I like the speed run, but sometime I don't know where am I.

Nice illustrations and visual style.
Movement speed was absurdly high. I didn't like I couldn't see where I am going - the camera should move so I see in front of me, not behind me.
Piano music was not great and looped poorly, drum music was alright.
I unfortunately didn't complete the game because I kept dying to things I couldn't see coming.

nice level design and pacing, also the concept art for protagonist and enemies was pretty cool, good job!
I love visual style and level design. Looks very cute. Gameplay is also fun. I think movement can be improved, it can be smoother. Overall, it is a nice classic platformer
Hello everyone, thanks for all the awesome feedback  , we are working on a new version where we change the camera speed/size and also fix another glitch to do with the player changing colour as he gets injured which we are going to put up as a post jam Fixed version
Nice game. The controls are a bit fast for my tastes and there isn't much feedback when you hit, are hit or die. The music is also a bit too short so it gets pretty repetitive after a short amount of time. Overall fun considering it's a jam game
Nice platformer! Even though the graphics are quite simple, it has a clever room design that makes it fun. Probably the game would be more engaging after reducing a bit the top horizontal speed, increasing a bit the acceleration and having more screen in the viewport (it is a bit unfair at times).

Cute little game ! Even if the gameplay is not that "unique", the sound design fits well and the art is really nice looking ! Since it's your first jam I can definitely say that you did a great job ! Though, you might want to spend a little more time on tweaking your gameplay : your controls are way too fast and are hard to handle ^^
Anyway, nice entry, you can be proud !

Felt verry good to play, like many others I came to like the fast movement Speed. The art was amazing however the music only played every second level and did not loop properly, maybe you can fix that.
Two small things I would change: limit the fire rate and the range of your fireballs because I was just constantly spamming left mouse to kill most enemies before I even saw them :D.
This would also be fun to speedrun as well maybe I'll give that a try later :)

I beat the game! I loved the art, the presentation and the theme (fire fighting against water). The level design was obviously limited by only having 72 hours, but I'd love to see more levels from you! Thanks!

Cool game :D I had some problem moving with the keypad and shooting with the mouse at the same and I felt that the controls were a little bit too fast, but anyway good job ! Really cute visual :D
@eolin @amigarulz Thank you for your feedback, are you guys aware that you can move with wasd?
Great job! I went through all levels :) Really enjoy the feedback of hero's running and attacks. It was very clear when you beat the enemies. The dynamic of the game was great. I hope you will continue the developing and add more interesting content!

A sort of map feature would be nice, I find them confusing and I'm not sure which way to go. Well done!

I liked it. If ever you want to prevent Unity tilemap tearing, use none-compressed point-filtered textures with pixel perfect cameras.
@twowolf we did use point filter, how do you use pixel perfect cameras? thank you for the advice :muscle:

Nice job on the title, really liked the graphics and atmosphere! For the pixel perfect camera, you just install it via package manager and apply to camera (see https://blogs.unity3d.com/2019/03/13/2d-pixel-perfect-how-to-set-up-your-unity-project-for-retro-8-bits-games/)

It's a downloadable builtin Unity package which became official only very recently. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G_E_U79q8g Alternatively you can use Pixel Snap settings in a sprite shader.
Just from someone who sufferred the same difficulty, that's all
The game feels a bit unfair sometimes. Kept jumping into the enemies by mistake (which is actually kinda fun! ). Still really enjoyed it :)
Thanks A lot @twowolf @zerohbeat glad you enjoyed it, did you play the updated one or the first one?
@llewellyn-and-michael I played both :D
(i played the updated version) at first i thought it was weird that you were really fast, but i liked it that way. its fast pace made the game way more fun. liked the cloud indicator idea. liked the wrong paths. but i had an issue, i got stuck in the ground at some point. Screenshot (227).png also binding esc to the pause menu isn't a good idea for an html game because it also escapes from fullscreen, maybe bind it to p

Nice platformer, I liked how different terrain makes you come up with different ways to shoot the water guys. The speed of the character allows for some real fast-paced gameplay, but at first it seemed a bit off and hard to control, especially when compared with the relatively low jump. I've got to complain about the blue level - it was very dark, and the background on your Itch page is very light and contrasting, making it really bad for the eyes. Mine, unfortunately, got very tired very fast.
@doritolord That is actually a really good point don't know how we missed it! thank you
Was a little too sensitive for me, fire boy is pretty fast. Also some background blocks appear to be platforms but aren't. Nevertheless a good entry. Nice art.
Pixel perfect stuff in Unity comes from a package called Cinemachine. It is included with the URP template by default.

i like the fast gameplay, reminds me a little bit on sonic the hedgehog. I'd like to run around faster and faster. well done congratulations.
