The art is great!
This game is so charming! The artwork is great, the connection with the theme is great, and it's pretty challenging too! I really like the idea of sacrificing some platform height to get out of a tight situation. It really makes the impact of the sinking more meaningful. Amazing work!
That is something worth expanding! Might use some new structures and enemies but you're on a good track to have a nice, little indie game like "Baba is You". Good luck!
I like the serious take on the theme contrasted with the lighthearted arcade gameplay. The jumping is tough but fair; tight enough that you have to focus, but not so much that it feels punishing. Managed to get to 225 before missing the gap on my best run. At least I think it was. The highscore doesn't save. Other than that one thing, it seems pretty well balanced and complete. Nice work!
- graphics look really nice - SFX fit the style really well - I had to use the L-stick instead of the D-pad for movement (d-pad would have fit better for the style of the game) - the game play is interesting and functional
Nice game, very polished. Good game design, a nice mix o multiple mechanics, although I found myself not using the punching very much and just tried to jump around the higher columns. Maybe that prevented from getting a higher score, I don't know. I got 530 and I am happy about it. :D
Good job!
Great game, loved it. Really great controls and nails the theme.
I'm blushing! Thank you a lot for playing!!
Damn, I just realized I inscribed the game for the jam instead of the 48h compo. Silly me...
Really fun game!!
The graphics are really cute! Has a really nice retro feel with the graphics and sounds and the game being on one screen.
So cool that you also made it 2 Players!!
I like the part where there's a penguin
Nice game, Very polished and Fun :)
I like te fact that is playable on mobile and gamepad
Well done! The flames and snow looked very good. A little bit of music would have gone a long way toward developing a theme or vibe. Mechanics were satisfying to use and I enjoy your take on the theme!
Awesome little game!
Loved the graphics and the mechanics.
I saw this game in Discord and I was decided to play it as soon as you upload it! It's a good game, with an idea so simple and well executed that is brilliant! I missed some background music, but even without it the game experience feels great. Congratulations! It's as good as it seemed in Discord!
"Inevitable" comes quick in this one, but it's a charming game. Good work!
Super Cute and fun to play! That penguin is soooo adorable! Great work!
Loved this. Having to choose between whether a structure is worth flattening or leaving it for now and going to another was great. The controls felt nice and responsive and the game as a whole was fun to play. My high score is 120 so far but I'll probably be playing this more. Don't really have any complaints here. The game was well balanced and fun to play
Very neat little concept! I love the way the segments of the iceberg go up and down; it's very visually satisfying. Not having a jump and instead forcing the player to decide whether to destroy parts of their own iceberg to traverse the level is a really cool design choice. The visuals are also great! The game does get a bit repetitive after a while and could probably use some additional mechanic to vary things up. But, overall, a fun little game. Nice work!
The art is charming, the game is fun, and the sound effects are on point. REALLY GOOD!! it is a really fun little experience, perfect for a jam, and seeing games made in pico-8 is interesting. i would have liked a little song at the background, but it is a game i would really play outside a jam!!
The sound effects are perfect and really fit the game, the controls are nice, and work great. Overall the game just has a lot of really nice polish!
@superpokeunicorn You can JUMP by pressing UP! ;D
I had plans for a background but totally FORGOT to add it. I'll probably add a new version when the voting ends.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! <3
@notnasiul Oh, lol, I'm a complete idiot for missing that. That definitely makes the game easier to play, although I stand by it not actually being 100% necessary.
This is super adorable!! Took me a few tries to get familiar with it but I had a really good time once I did! It's super fun yeeting the fireballs off the screen :P Awesome work!!
Great game! the aesthetic is really great. Classic formula arcade game: simple, good control, addictive and fun... everything that a game MUST BE! :)
Everything is better in a island. :)
Nice to see another pico-8 game! Really well executed and super fun. Really enjoyed it.
725 score. It was short and fun! Having fire wisps and rainy clouds are nice balance of negative and positive feedback to the game.
Art was beautiful. SFX went very nicely with the mood of the game. Controls were pretty straight forward, got easier when I realized you could double jump. :stuck_out_tongue: Could use some light background music, but over all well done!
@ayosetrujillo Lol, I see what you did there ;D
Love the graphics. Gameplay is pretty good. I think it's probably the way the Pico-8 html5 page works, but it's kinda hard to move without jumping. SFX are good, but it could really use an 8-bit background music track to go with it. One last piece of criticism, I barely saw my score because I was spamming the x button and that is the accept button on the score page. I'd change that to the other button. Good job!
Really cool game. It's simple and the gameplay feels good. The graphics + sound design are great and fit to the rest. Only thing missing is some background music, but overall really well done 👍
@augustcoder What do you mean "the way pico8 html5 page works" being related to being hard to move without jumping? Maybe there's a bug? I can walk around just fine - unless next column is a bit higher than your eye level or so, in that case you must jump. But most of the time you'll jump, anyway... Thanks for playing!
Oh, if you made a highscore it's stored and saved, so it's probably still there :)
@notnasiul Oh, I forgot to mention I was on mobile. When I played it there was a D-Pad on my screen I could use to move. The only thing about it is that it would jump even if I just touched the left arrow only (without touching up arrow). Wasn't too big a deal though, and the game was still fun.
@augustcoder Ah yes, on mobile it's always difficult to play with a D-Pad, I fear. It's playable but more difficult to control O:) Thanks for playing!
Clever little game! Very nice concept, and polished/juicy to play! Very tough in my opinion, but not frustrating or annoying :) Excellent work!!
I have no idea how people are getting such high scores I only managed to get 80! the game is so polished though. I love the art it's so cute!
really good job :)
@castitatis Try not to fall into water? :D Use jumping wisely and try to grab&throw fires away first of all! That's prioritary. I get around 1000 points almost every time :)
@notnasiul for some reason I completely missed the grabbing mechanics...I'll have to retry your game!
I think I got pretty far!

Such a charming game, I absolutely love the effects (from the fireballs and clouds) and the controls are tight! My strategy was to let a side of the arena go (so I'd only defend the right side, for example), and then jumping around and trying to catch and throw the fires before they even reach the snow.
Really good job, it was so fun to play
Really cute game, enjoyed the art and arcade gameplay. Sticking in one area and spamming x seemed like a bit of an op strategy but maybe i just got lucky :3
Controls feel very responsive; this is aided by the tight audio design. The graphics look good. I think the gameplay could use some more depth but what there is works very well.
Very nice game. Very good job pulishing it! Best things: art, controls and the use of the theme. For a future version I would add more dept in the game play. Congrats!
Great animation full of motion, really cute designs in the Pico-8 limitations. The physics of the jumping feel spot on and the tossing of the fireballs is satisfying. Climate change is a great take on the theme, and the steady ramp up in difficulty really does make it feel like it's only an inevitability before you're toast. My high score was 345. Really well done.
I really enjoyed this. Nice simple little platformer and so cool to see 2-player implemented! I posted a review of this over on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/qxkNPOozqCE
Nice job! A fun take on the theme. Clean graphics and animating. Bonus points for using Pico8!
What a cool game to play, love the old school vibe, art and audio, great work!
@extar Watched it this morning (I'm playmedusa on twitter, right, I should fix that here! Notnasiul is my personal account in Spanish) :D Thanks for playing and sharing!
Thank you all new players for trying the game!
Simple but really elegant, great work! Sometimes I had difficulty grabbing the fireballs, it was a bit hard to gauge the range where I could pick them up. Otherwise the controls felt pretty good, congrats on making a solid platformer controller in such a short time! Nice job, keep it up!
Great idea. It's really creative. Using the contrast of ice and fire an creating a unique mechanic with it that fits the theme "Delay the inevitable" perfectly. The sound and the art style are cute and beautiful.
Another thing, the movement feels pretty polished and nice.
Overall great game :)
Cute litte game. Classic PICO-8 charm, I enjoyed my two rounds, even though I think it did not record my high scores properly.

My score is nothing compared to @conradoclark but I still thought I'd share. I had fun.
@cerno-b There's a bug in the highscore thing for some reason!! I'll upload a fix once the voting ends, and tweak some details. Thanks for playing! The game over screen already says it, but I wanted to thank all of you again ^-^
