I really love what you did with the theme. It's a shame it was so short, I can imagine this being a very fun and difficult game once the conversations get a bit more advanced. I just wanted to keep playing to see what would happen to the poor guy!

william-bundy 2017-12-04 11:26

This was stressful right from the start, but it makes good use of the theme and the graphics and sound set the mood very well! Great work

scott-r-howell 2017-12-04 11:28

a hilarious approach to dialogue trees, which fits the theme quite nicely, gave me a good chuckle

dylan-ellis 2017-12-04 11:29

Awesome idea! Love the implementation as well. Very cool.

azlen 2017-12-04 11:32

@gwolf86, thank you! I was a bit rushed for time to submit for the compo and as a result I didn't get as much of the story in as I was hoping. I am however considering making a post-compo version with an extended story with content up to day 4-5 (and possibly a new location ).

sintel 2017-12-04 11:34

Great little game! I'd rate it higher if it were longer though.

sanguis 2017-12-04 11:37

How do I feed him chocolate? :D But I was able to buy choclate milk! Nice one :)

gwolf86 2017-12-04 11:43

Sounds great. The Compo is quite stressful to try and fit everything in but I'm impressed with what you have so far. Let me know when the post-compo version is out, I'd love to play it! :D

dylan-ellis 2017-12-04 12:39

I really like this game, although it does feel a bit short. However, that's totally understandable! I mean we did only have 48 hours. Overall, it's awesome.

mrthee 2017-12-04 20:00

This was a cool fun take on the theme. The harpsichord track plus the doodley graphics set a nice awkward mood. I'd love to see how far this concept could go, both in terms of narrative/content + potential new dialogue bubble mechanics.

gimbalock 2017-12-04 20:05

Great idea. Well executed. Nice smooth feel to select the speech bubbles. for me, the music was a little of the mood. But overall, nice game!

orcifried 2017-12-04 20:08

It's super nicely made. Very simple but very... perfect, in a way!

maroovan 2017-12-04 23:40

Damn... this... was...so good! Such a great game. Love it and want to play more of it. * Idea and gameplay are unique and i see a great potential in this mechanics! * Graphics are minimalistic and very pleasing to look at. They remind me of Edmund McMillen's graphic style * Sounds and music was very cool. They sound so polished.... that at this point I don't believe that you made it in 2 days. If it's true - all the world's respect to you, man, if not - it's still a fucking good game. Well, if you ever need a co-worker, would be glad to help with something

chong-lee 2017-12-05 01:05

This is so unique and creative! The game was really fun and interesting! Would love to see more!

thx1342 2017-12-05 02:01

ahhaha love the idea! totally can relate to the 'issue' at hand :) love how you leveraged the topic

ham-and-swiss 2017-12-05 02:13

Clever game, good job. Even if it's short, it's a cool system.

soyrandom 2017-12-05 02:40

I liked it! i used godot too, check my game if you want

bloodjohn 2017-12-05 06:50

Interesting concept of dialogue. 100% managed to convey viscous slurry mumbling character. I'm not sure that it's fun, but very impressive.

eggshelldog 2017-12-05 09:09

That's cool! I love the game talking with AI. That's really awesome to make a game like this. However, it's a little bit easy to get stuck( I guess maybe I click too many not-related bubbles?) The First time I stuck at second place, the second time I even stuck in tutorial :(. but That's still a good entry, at least I really enjoy the process before I get stuck! Also, I love you let the character look at the cursor position! It let me feel he is really thinking!

phillserrazina 2017-12-05 13:52

This was so much fun! I would definitely love to see more of this game! Great concept and it could go to really weird places. I liked the art style, it was "unique", you could say. The music gave a totally different vibe to the game, and I liked it!

mortus 2017-12-05 18:43

I like the idea and style a lot, but I was hoping to see more wrong answers, so you could screw up more. Also, does it just give the correct word for you if you don't do anything or was I lucky all the time? I thought you should be on timer to answer with the correct word so you have to add umms and erms to reset the timer if you didn't find the correct word yet. Just my 2 cents in case you'd expand the game in the future.

arcadia 2017-12-05 19:43

Wow, this game just *works*. Really great job, this is definitely a front runner in my eyes. A really unique spin on the concept, with a great mechanic that just doesn't... uhh. ummm yes.... uh... uhm seem to ... uhh ... get old!

Making my character constantly spew strings of "uhhs" and "uhhms" was just so fun, every time. The characters were great, that shop owner was definitely an evil alien robot in disguise!

I'd love to see this expanded, I'd definitely buy it! Really great job!

gamepopper 2017-12-05 19:46

Great work, brilliant way to represent social anxiety. Shame there isn't much, I would like to see this explored more!

gamedevzach 2017-12-05 20:26

I would love to play more of this  It could do with more feedback based on your responses and I want to try that presentation on Thursday. I had a moment of fear considering how difficult that was going to be lol.

videojames 2017-12-05 21:40

Really funny! Talking to your parents high- THE GAME

shemokam 2017-12-05 21:46

please please please please PLEASE tell me you plan on making a full game out of this idea ?! I WOULD BUY IT !

binaryspark 2017-12-05 21:50

A very, very clever take on the theme. I think this is probably the most innovative game I've seen this LD.

finbobby123 2017-12-05 21:53

It seems like a very unique game. I like the idea of it and enjoyed playing it.

mr-matt 2017-12-05 21:59

Very creative! Well done!

steel-dev 2017-12-05 22:01

I love all the uhs and ums xD Great Job!

towerhufham 2017-12-05 22:25

Please finish this game! I want to play it!!

gamesplusjames 2017-12-06 02:05

One of those great entries where I'm just upset there wasn't more of it! The core mechanic of selecting conversations was great and I loved how your choices had an affect on what responses you got from characters. The art style really fit well too! Great work!

elzach 2017-12-06 11:56

Nice proof of concept - the artstyle was pretty and the characters face moving in the direction of the mouse was a nice subtle way to get more life in to the scenes.

I encountered some game ending bugs, when I was spamming just all the errs and uhms into every sentence - because at some point I had no bubbles anymore no matter how often I changed maps.

The artstyle remembered me of the old dark newgrounds cartoons like saladfingers - so that's definetly a plus in my book! Good work!

reality-blind 2017-12-06 12:06

Good work, nice game 👌

profan 2017-12-06 23:12

Man I was legitimately sad that there wasn't more to the game! Forming nonsense sentences or picking your words from the cloud of your mind has never been better visualized :D

As others have said though, it would definitely be interesting to have more ways to screw up, but solid work! (also, would have been nice to have had a linux build since you did make it in godot, but i ran it through wine and it worked so :D)

Hope you expand on it! :D

technomancy-studios 2017-12-06 23:31

Err uhh umm Drink err uhh my milk uhh mom.

alex-bezuska 2017-12-07 01:20

The concept is great. I love the art it's a really odd and unique style. I love how the player's face follows the mouse cursor. The play button using the same mechanic as the game is great design. I would play more of this. I want emojis of these creep faces haha

adsilcott 2017-12-07 01:28

Very clever and satisfying... yes please make more of this!

guilhermesouza 2017-12-07 06:21

I liked your game! It's so different! \o/

dietzribi 2017-12-08 15:15

That was really special, I think it has a lot of potential. I wish it was longer! I really liked the graphics even though they were really simple, they had a lot of character. The concept is really cool!

oivin-f 2017-12-09 00:51

A fun and novel experience. Unlike anything I've played before

jenninexus 2017-12-09 07:46

Very adorable and lovable characters, map, sfx & music. Looking forward to potential future iterations. :)

potti 2017-12-09 22:08

This is a brilliant idea. Looks polished. Hope to see a longer version sometime.

falak 2017-12-10 11:45

5 stars uhh... hmm... um... umm uh um.... uh so..

Want more ;)

carlosvvk 2017-12-12 22:41

I liked very much the art style, it's simple but fits the game completely. Nice job Mm hmm umm err I guess

2017-12-14 11:57

Very interesting way of doing conversations! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s2AmCPVSXQ

ddrkirbyisq 2017-12-17 10:31
