A relatively standard shooter but still provides a lot of fun! good art, sound, and adherence to the theme! i would add more upgrades and guns to spice things up

zollmaniac 2020-04-21 17:59

Fun game! I liked the graphics style and the mechanics were very smooth.

defenestration 2020-04-21 18:00

I love everything about this game. 5 stars in every category

binaryspark 2020-04-21 18:00

Gives me some Enter the Gungeon vibes. Nice work, I like it. I felt like the violet takes damage very quickly, so it can be difficult to get rid of an enemy quickly without taking damage. Consider some manner of recovery method, maybe?

bitpokit 2020-04-21 18:00

This was so fun! It is a tad bit difficult, but so is our game so who cares lol. I really love the graphics and sound! :)

jbdev 2020-04-21 18:04

The graphics were really funny but I found the game a bit difficult to understand. A tutorial would've been great.

I liked the twist of protecting something : )

dukebot 2020-04-21 18:05

I love top down shooters! This has good mechanics, but it's very hard. I would like to be a bit easier on the start to ge tused to the game. Anyway it was fun to play, well done.

wallaby 2020-04-21 18:06

Omg, that's a lot of comments xD Thanks @bitpokit @zollmaniac @binaryspark @defenestration @play-pause-games for sharing your experience with me! I appreciate that.

@binaryspark it was supposed to be very hard, I mean, with the upgrades you can get your violet to have more HP, I takes damage fast because you know, it's a flower. I will add more powerups (ways to recover HP included) later. Thanks for your feedback! ^^

bigtinygames 2020-04-21 18:16

Game is realy fun to play, I like it, but... xD but there is problem with hitboxes it seems that you can miss target when it apears that you should hit it. I'd always suggest having hitboxes for enemies too big than too small. :)

loudrasiel 2020-04-21 18:20

This game is very good I love this. The idea is very fun. The graphics and sounds are simple but very good

almighty-games 2020-04-21 20:40

The graphics are nice and the controls are all very intuitive and easy to handle, however, the enemies come at the target very quickly and there seems to be a challenge collecting ammo and dealing with threats so quick and early in the game. There was a couple of moments where I felt the game cheated me, because the enemy health showed one heart, but I had to hit them multiples time to kill them. I did have fun playing the game, but wish there was a slower paced version for old guys like me. hehehe Good luck with the jam. :)

nabo369 2020-04-21 21:04

Pretty fun game, the graphics, music and the gameplay are all good and the only thing which could make it better is a few more upgrades but the game in off itself is already challenging and fun enough already

greon 2020-04-22 06:19

That was an difficult game, but i think it made it even more fun, as it is very responsive, an fast gameplay fits in, the music was good, and the graphics lovely, more upgrades would be welcome, or even other guns, nice job!

simpathey 2020-04-23 02:56

The art and animation is amazing. I am also a fan of the sound effects and the music. The camera movement is really nice to because it follows the mouse slightly so you are more surprised by enemies. Ammo management is difficult without the upgrades. Hit box for the small unit and the eyes that the big enemies shoot is not apparent. Overall amazing job, very polished!

wallaby 2020-04-23 02:58

@simpathey Thank you so much for your feedback, can't wait to play yours!

disthron 2020-04-24 21:42

Hmm... the while line seems to be going through the enemies sometiems it dosen't seem to hit. Also I don't think you start out with enough ammo. I think every death I've had has been because I ran out of ammo.

If one of the head butt zombies reaches the plant it dies so quickly I'm not sure what the point of it having more than 1 health point is.

The controls were very solid though.

wallaby 2020-04-25 04:30

@disthron Hi [Assuming you played the Ludum Dare version(first one)] The hitbox was a little different from now, and since the line fades_out slowly, if you miss the shot but the creatures passes through it, you'll have the impression that it hit.

The, as you called, "head butt zombies" kill it quickly because one of the points of the game is to make sure you'll be careful on how far you can go from your Flower.

Thanks for the feedback!

rangoiv 2020-04-25 22:04

Enemies take the hitpoits waaay to quickly which makes hearts seem uselles. Camera movement is very cool, but it makes aiming much harder. However, music and graphics are great. Pretty cool game all in all!

eran-haas 2020-04-25 22:09

Fun! I liked that the ammo was balanced in a way that required you to be fairly precise in your shooting.

I think a little slower ramp up of difficulty might be better, let the player get into the rhythm of the game before things get too hectic.

It felt wrong to me that the dash was towards the aiming direction rather than along the movement.

francisco-lucas 2020-04-25 22:10

Good game! I really liked the game feel. Maybe it has the potential to continue developing it :)

blue-pin-studio 2020-04-25 22:11

I like the game, i played the latest version so i'll judge based on that although i realize its probably not fair to judge, ehhh who cares. I think the monsters do tooooo much damage tooooo quickly, if one little zombie is at the flower for more than 1 second, im screwed! I'm not against some of the zombies being that fast but perhaps ease up at the beginning with some zombies that dont eat as fast :P Great submission though!

savvu 2020-04-25 22:39

Great shooter and the wnvironment is awesome as well! It definitely is worth playing and also importing it to mobile!

sigod 2020-04-25 23:36

Really nice game. Only can you add support for wide screens? Like 5120x1440. For example (downscaled): Screenshot 2020-04-26 02.26.12.png

For some reason, all screenshot of a normal gameplay look like this.

wallaby 2020-04-25 23:44

@sigod I'm really sorry for that... :(

Is the gameplay broken or just the screenshots?

lambdanaut 2020-04-26 00:11

Really awesome game! Loved it. At first I felt like it was incredibly difficult.. too difficult, but I adjusted quickly, and the shop items were incredibly addictive.

The pacing was well done, and the enemy variation was good for a jam game. Music also was nice.

Most addictive jam game I've played so far this year so gj!

sigod 2020-04-26 00:26

@wallaby, I'm not sure... Here, check out the video: https://youtu.be/AucsCglTxQ8 (Ignore the lag - it's just how OBS recorded it. I haven't tried recording at this resolution before.)

Edit: Overall, screen movement feels very slippery and unpleasant.

wallaby 2020-04-26 02:36

@sigod okay it's completely broken xD

I don't have a screen so big soooo I can't test it. This is a very specific problem, maybe if you want, we can get in contact on discord or something so I can fix it. And I would be pretty happy if you could remove the screenshot and the video so people don't think the game is broken on every situation.

PS: I'm not trying to fool people, I'll definitely put a WARNING on my game page so people know it's broken on Wide Screens!

paulhocker 2020-04-26 03:54

i really wanted to like this game but the ramp up is way too fast. i will have to try one of the fixed versions. thanks for making this.

wallaby 2020-04-26 04:31

@paulhocker I don't really understand what you mean, could you elaborate?

sigod 2020-04-26 10:19

@wallaby 1. Add support for Windowed mode. The general convention is to allow toggling FullScreen/Windowed mode with Alt+Enter. Forcing FullScreen on people is not nice - I've learned it with my game on the previous LD :D 2. Somewhere in the code, you're making assumptions about resolution/aspect ratio/etc. Or maybe Godot does it. Either way, you need to make it dynamic.

wallaby 2020-04-26 17:40

@sigod you tried the first version right? Maybe can you download the latest version and report what happens?

sigod 2020-04-26 18:16

@wallaby I tried the first and the latest version. The screenshot and video are of the latest version.

masterpose 2020-04-26 19:24

The hitboxes of the enemies doesn't seems fair to me, and also the weapon not moving at the same speed of the player makes everything more unfair. Those two little things ruined my experience :/ But nice graphics and sounds :b

wallaby 2020-04-26 19:38

@sigod Okay, I'm uploading a Fixed version right now. In a few minutes you will be able to download it. ^^ Thanks for sharing the issue.

wallaby 2020-04-26 19:41

@masterpose If you tried the first version (The Ludum Dare version) the hitboxes of the small ones is pretty unfair (fixed on recent updates).

I don't really understand why the gun is unfair, I mean, the bullets come out from it, not the player, also it follows the player very fast. Maybe you just need to get used to it (like almost everything in this game).

sigod 2020-04-26 19:58

@wallaby Works much better  Now only dynamically adjust visible area instead of just showing black borders on the sides. And it would be perfect.

firellon 2020-04-27 21:13

I liked it, rather hardcore but enjooyable entry :)

The revenge points are a good way to keep the player playing for a little bit, since you can get it easier over time (slowly though)

The violet itself seems to be the biggest obstacle, since it block my shots and it's taking time to go around it and recalibrate my aim yet again

How many enemy types are there?

wallaby 2020-04-27 22:03

@firellon Hello, since I lost so much time making the art (wich is horrible XD) and the game mechanics (wich nobody really uses XD) there are only 2 types of enemies.

The game is made to be hardcore, no noobs allowed! And the Violet is meant to be the biggest obstacle for sure, by the way you can pass easily through it by Dashing (Right Mouse Button).

basileios 2020-04-28 10:29

Very fun and crunchy action. However, it could do with a bit a' screenshake

duke 2020-04-28 21:01

I'm a little split on this one. It's really fun on the surfuce, reminds me a lot of "into the gungeon". The shooting is satisfying, the movement is repsonsive and the aiming controls and mechanics work well. The art is alright, but some of the pixel art seem to not fit quite into your pixel raster resolution. What I didnt't like was the difficulty and the design choice to make your character only able to kill, but not to defend. Especially because of those shooting enemies, that will automatically deal 3(!) damage, when not killed immediately. Sometimes they spawn in packs and it's almost impossible to get all of them before one starts it's projectiles. I'd really appreciate some mechanic to deflect shots. Or at least sacrifice your own health to avoid damage to the plant. It got really frustrating because of that. I still made a couple of runs trying to figure out, if there was a way to prevent this issue with game play alone. But not before long, the same thing happened again.

Nonetheless, great entry! Good to play a good old pc-twin-stick-shooter again. Disregarding that I've seen the same theme interpretation like a gazillion times already :) Ours isn't that innovative either.

johnnysix 2020-04-28 22:14

This game is very fun with the sniper weapon and the dash , though I wish it was a little more forgiving on the initial waves. Since I am alwasy running out of bullets, or the single zombies manage to kill the plant very quickly. Maybe for the first three waves, the zombies / floating eyes don't do so much damage.

Loved the pixel art style. One thing I'd say for the menus etc, is to keep it simple, and add a little visual so it's clearer what's clickable.

For example, the buy menu, just put a background behind the buy button, and on the title screen, you have class/wave which launch the game, then what appears to be a non-working play button?

Minor things though. Overall a solid entry!

wallaby 2020-04-28 23:28

@duke You can stop the eyes either using Grenades (wich were added in the [Grenade Update]) or by shooting the little eyes.

Thanks for the feedback!

wallaby 2020-04-28 23:29

@johnnysix Thanks for the feedback!

armani03k 2020-05-02 04:31

love the game overall! could use some more effects to add more oomph into it

euler-moises 2020-05-03 04:43

wallaby 2020-05-03 19:22

@euler-moises

Não, a música não é de nenhuma banda xD

Pra fazer a musica eu usei o BipBox e o FLStudio.

Obrigado pelo feedback!

zubspace 2020-05-08 20:59

Wow, this game is awesome! It's very simple, but you obviously put a lot of work into every detail. The graphics rock, the controls are smooth as butter and the game itself gives you a wonderful adrenaline rush. Made it to wave 7...

It's not that simple and takes some practice. But it's a lot of fun. The waves and weapons are awesome. Conserving ammo is very important and you need to be very aware of your surroundings.

Really great job! Loved every second of it!

wans24 2020-05-11 20:15

Nothing special about gameplay, but the game is very solid and looks good. Very well made, love the graphics and controlls. P.S. Played the last version. It's much cooler. Enjoyed it a lot.

fabula-rasa 2020-05-12 20:50

Definitely unforgiving  If you don't shot just right, don't conserve your ammo - you are dead. So, I was dead more often than not. And that is not a bad thing at all.

The game works well and feels polished. Art is very nice and the sfx are fine as well.

artemftw 2020-05-12 20:57

Here's some last minute feedback!

Great entry! The graphics are very nice, and the audio is great. The game is pretty fun and fits in with the theme really nicely. Nicely done!
