The main mechanic, which is herding, feels nice. I was hoping that level 10 would be an impossibly large herd, but I appreciate your subtle and thought out difficulty curve.

That was so fun/infuriating. Luckily I didn't lose any cats :relieved:.
Your next game should be about putting cats back in a bag . I thought it would be interesting if their were hazards in the levels that don't just block the cats, but can harm them. So, your goal is to not only keep them from getting lost, but also from getting hurt.
First I was wondering how I could control the cats, then I understood aha :) A very interesting concept and well matching the theme ! Congratz for the work :)
I feel like it could have gotten a bit harder towards the end. The obstacles were a good addition, but I think that keeping an acceptable percentage of cats successfully herded would have been a good idea and then amping up the number of cats to where it's almost impossible to get an actually purrfect game.
That's just an idea, though. I don't know how that would actually work out. Nice work, though!
Herding cats, what an idea. Turn on the music and effects to hear them meow.
Lost 1 cat in total :) Easy little game. The music and SFX sliders were all the way down by default. I enjoyed playing your game. Well done!
Clever name. The cats' movement is very jerky. Fun game though!
Mechanically _really_ fun - I enjoyed just messing around on the title screen (until I got a Unity hard crash popup - you might have some unfixed errors on your title screen...?) so reloaded and stopped messing around on the title screen.
I didn't rate you on Audio, as I didn't get any...? You might want to opt out of that category if there isn't any
All of your levels are iterations on the same theme, but as I said - that basic mechanic is **really fun**, and I don't see any reason why you couldn't expand on this with the ideas you felt you didn't have time for.
Turns out herding cats gets a bad rep for no reason!
edit: Oh, I've just noticed this is your first LD entry? Extra Kudos on that, its a really solid first attempt!
*meow meow meow* I played it with sound at 100%. Perfect on title screen ! :smile_cat:
The music is annoying at the end, too much repetitive but the game is really fun to play.
@mrnyarlathotep Thanks for the great feedback. There is audio but unfortunately it starts muted and need to be turned up in the options menu :( hope I don't lose to many ratings for that.
Nice well rounded game considering the 48-hour time frame. The concept fit the theme rather well and the game mechanic was easy to figure out. I'm sure you have many ideas and concepts you would have loved to work into the game if you had more time, but, what you have is a very solid start to something that would be a blast to play on my phone :)
That said, there are two quick things that I think would immediately make it better / more amusing: (1) I would have loved it if the cats would meow (normally or in weird and funny ways) (2) it would be nice to have a level number in the level itself so I could know which level I was on.
Good job and feel free to check out my entry :)
@FussenKuh Thanks for the feedback! The cats do actually meow but the sound starts muted for some reason. Please turn the volume up in the options menu.
I will of course take a look at your game :)
I'm confused... what kind of cat is *afraid* of a mouse? :P
Great entry, love the sound and style =). Or, maybe I just love cats.
Difficulty curve was a little low, I don't think I lost a single cat before getting through all of the levels, would have enjoyed failing and needing to retry a couple of them.
@raziyya - That's 100x better with the cats meowing! The funny thing is that I actually went to the options screen before I played my first game and bumped up both the music and effects volumes. I heard the music, but, apparently didn't have the SFX cranked high enough. Well done :)
It was worth turning on the sound as I had a chuckle. Good job :D The controls are intuitive, although it's a bit easier than my cat herding game ;)
I don't know whether it's just because you start noticing it when you made a herding game yourself, but this Ludum Dare seems to have spawned quite a few herding simulators...
I love the music, it's really catchy! The cats are a bit too twitchy and the difficulty could have been a bit higher towards the end. The title screen is a really cool idea! Good job and congrats on your firs LD!
Also, I peeked at your code a bit...
To fix the audio starting at zero bug:
return PlayerPrefs.GetFloat(MUSIC_VOLUME_KEY__, 1__); //(PlayerPrefsManager: 25) This will set a default value to 1, if the value has not been saved before (haven't tested it, but should fix it). I think this might fall under the category of Certain Bug Fixes in the [Ludum Dare Rules](http://ludumdare.com/compo/rules/).
By the way, the reason why your cats are so twitchy is because you basically reset the velocity every frame. Multiply Cat:57 by Time.deltaTime, to change that.
@navot There are definitely quite a few herding games this time round. I expect the theme just gave an excuse to anyone who's interested in flocking algorithms.
Thank you very much. I actually quite like that the cats are twitchy. To me it makes them act more cat like compared to the super smooth sheep in your game. It also adds a little bit of difficulty to a game than would otherwise be trivial. I was definitely to cautious about making the game too hard :/
Really appreciate you looking through my code as I haven't had a chance to yet. Yes I think I will fix that and resubmit. Not adding extra features so I should be safe. I'm curious to look through your code actually :D
Having too many cats can never be a bad thing ! I like the short music you have there btw
Fun concept, it does get worse with more cats :p
This is a weirdly clever game. Controlling cats with *the mouse*, eh?
Great theme interpretation, specially talking about cats! But cats are going to control the internet one day, so there's no point on trying to control them... :D
Nice! Cool gameplay concept, reminded me of the sheep herding in Red Dead Redemption :). I loved the cat sounds in combination with the frantic movement, really feels chaotic (which is a good thing!). I would love to have some more control, or maybe be able to use some objects to keep the cats in line. BTW the main menu is awesome, played with it for way too long.
Well done!
This was more fun than it looked to play! The controls works well, and there is a good balance of challenge. Great effort for the time given. The obstacles don't seem to pose too much of a threat, perhaps if the obstacles cause the kitty's to die it would add to the difficulty! Meow! I can now die knowing that I've herded virtual kitties.
Cool game. Smooth controls, lovely kitties. Well done.
