Not sure what to do, map just ends? Cute character design tho!
Not gonna lie, if the purpose of the game was to convey a message about depression or alcoholism, there are countless better ways you could have done it. I don't know if you've gone through something terrible to create this, and I'm truly sorry if that's the case, but next time, maybe try to include some context or environmental narrative in your game.
Smooth animation there guy
«13 butt-sliding cats out of 10»
At first, the game feels like pure chaos — I had no idea what to do in the browser version, but somehow couldn’t close the tab. Then I downloaded the archive version and… still clueless! But running around in the gloom, accumulating a tail of red-eyed shadow cats stubbornly sliding on their butts is inexplicably fun. The character animation and eerie vibe are weirdly captivating.
Quick guide for fellow confused players:
Move with arrow keys (←↑→).
Drink bottles by pressing DOWN — screen darkens, spawns a new shadow cat.
To drink again, hold SHIFT to burn energy, then press DOWN.
Endgame: You lead a parade of creepy-yet-adorable freaks.
Jokes aside: The game is bizarre, hilarious, and full of atmosphere, but I’d love to see a more polished version — with clearer mechanics, a bit more context, or even a narrative thread. The devs clearly have a knack for crafting unique, memorable experiences, and it’d be great to see that potential fully realized.
I did it. I drank and made cats as one does.
Nice running animation, but not sure what to do. I drank a lot and made the screen darker, but not sure where it would have ended, congrats
Initially we had an idea for our project, we did something, but we had in the end some issues. So, what is published is a concept of a game that was created in a hour.
EDIT: Also, the game character is a placeholder, it wasn't intended to specifically showcase the subject of alcoholism. The sprite was a good choice to work with for beginning, and as I said we wanted to do something distinct, but did the improvisation adequatly, maybe.
Intriguing bit of gameplay for a made-in-an-hour concept! I'm wondering what the bigger plan is/was. Platformer or a different type of game where the speed boost would pay off?
@oter @kveg @mooyett @vegasword @kalabhers @mayrakissa @isaac-hisey It was supposed to be a platformer-puzzle game inspired by Papers Please! and, to some extent, Kingdom Two Crowns. Speed-boost will be an obtain-able ability for the main character. The setting will be the After-World and you will play as the After-World Judge that will decide where souls must go. We will work on this project and follow what we do, if you want. Check anytime later my itch.io.
A remarkably unique game — I like it. The cats are well done. Took me a while to get used to the controls, though — could use a bit of clarity in this respect. As for the suggestion of alcoholism or lack thereof — do not for one moment worry about this. Anything and everything can offend — this is unavoidable, unless you remain utterly silent.
Not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing, but the character animations and parallax background are A++!
