LD25 — You are the Villain

Lunar Frenzy by Fireblend 2013-01-02T22:29:00

Fun to play, on both Android and PC. Funny too! :-)

Fisticuffs by SiENcE 2012-12-19T19:37:00

Interesting game. I like the idea of not having any direct control of the players, acting like a manager of the team. Excellent background sounds.

Flight of the Abductor by enfyrneaux 2013-01-02T22:12:00

I preferred this on my PC than on my Android phone - on my Galaxy S3 controlling the UFO seemed much more difficult. Fun game, and great sound effects and humor!

Ithyxsk by Galan 2013-01-06T15:37:00

All three links are broken now. :-(

The Twist by amassingham 2013-01-03T20:48:00

Interesting idea. I had difficulty controlling the moustache on my Android phone. This game shows lots of promise.

Champion of Corruption by potatochips 2013-01-06T15:41:00

Link is broken.

Fry Fleshlings Fast by zeh 2012-12-24T10:09:00

Great concept. Love the gameplay. The Android version freezed up quite quickly on my Samsung Galaxy S3, after about 30 seconds of play.

Fry Fleshlings Fast by zeh 2013-01-02T22:21:00

@zeh I just tried this game for the first time on my PC. It works great! Lots of fun killing those fleshlings!

Escape by voidstar69 2012-12-18T00:06:00

Nutter you are correct, I was running out of time and it was quicker and easier to add a 'dead end' level rather than a proper ending screen or animation. The geometry of the last level provides a clue to this...

Escape by voidstar69 2012-12-19T19:27:00

SiENcE, I agree. Before the compo started I practiced loading images and sounds, and displaying and playing them. I intended to have bitmaps and sound, but ended up spending a lot of time on the technical aspects. Not that I can draw or compose music - I'll need to try out a generator next time for bitmaps, sounds and music.

Escape by voidstar69 2012-12-19T19:29:00

Maple, I originally dreamed of implementing something like the A* algorithm for enemy path-finding, or flood-filling the maze from the player's position so that the enemies could easily find the shortest path to the player. But I never got around to writing any of these. Maybe next time.

Escape by voidstar69 2012-12-21T23:43:00

Sorry about that @Drabiter - I thought that Silverlight did support Linux. After a bit of research I can now see that the port of Silverlight to Linux (called Moonlight) only got as far as supporting Silverlight 2, and the whole Moonlight project was abandoned in late 2011.

Are you able to install some version of Moonlight on Linux Mint? If so then I can probably port my game to Silverlight 1 or 2 (after all I only use coloured rectangles and text), and then it might work on Linux with Moonlight.

Escape by voidstar69 2012-12-26T21:57:00

@Jack @GIB3D I came up with this game concept a while before the theme was announced, and then had difficulty fitting it to the theme. The closest I got was to state that the character is "considered a criminal" (see screenshot above). This didn't really fit my concept of having a defenceless character with no way to attack the enemy. I made the decision early on to use only mouse movement and no buttons, to make a simpler and more accessible game.

Super Natural Habitat Destroyer by _Rilem 2013-01-03T21:40:00

Brilliant!

International Super-Villain by Gaian 2013-01-06T15:38:00

The zip archive contains Ruby source files. I don't have Ruby installed, so I could not play this.

Christmas Jeer by Gorp900 2013-01-06T15:39:00

Yep, links no longer exist.

BourbonBorn by Cthu 2013-01-03T21:17:00

Short but interesting. No sound or music.

Rainbow by ix 2012-12-18T21:54:00

Great gameplay concept. Well done for dreaming this up, and bringing it to life.

Crime Scene by saulotti 2013-01-03T20:58:00

Very interesting concept.

Burglary by TobiasW 2013-01-06T15:17:00

Wonderful game. Great fun! I love the gameplay.

Extinct : Humankind fade in the mist by Benjamin 2012-12-21T23:29:00

Brilliant game! Fantastic puzzles and excellent pixel art.

Atomic Creep Spawner!! by deepnight 2013-01-03T21:09:00

WOW!!!

Knights of Uruk by Mark Ffrench 2012-12-24T10:11:00

Excellent game. I love the graphics and music. Compo version runs great on my Galaxy S3.

Lair Defense by SharkApple 2012-12-20T13:28:00

Nice simplified Tower Defense game. Only one level, and too easy. Would be much better with multiple levels or waves, or barely enough gold to win. I really like three humorous intro. :-)
Well done on being one of the few Android devs at LD25. It is great to be able to play a LD game on a mobile device.

The Most EVIL Breakfast by refreshgames 2013-01-03T20:43:00

This is tough on Android (those cats are fast), but still fun. Great idea.

Internet Avenger by Nolan C 2013-01-06T14:59:00

Hilarious! Although the platforming gameplay is quite simple, the boss battles and the funny story make this game brilliant!

Centipede 2013 by robashton 2012-12-26T21:49:00

Works quite well on an iPad. Hard but fun.

Feel To Be Me! Alien of Sace Invader by Drabiter 2012-12-20T22:40:00

I played the Android version on my Galaxy S3. The blue gradient in the background does not fill the whole screen. The aliens only shoot if I touch within the blue gradient block.

The first few times I played I did not realize that I could make the invaders move faster by tilting the phone.

A great concept, inverting the roles of the space ship and aliens. Also quite difficult! :-)

Agents by recursive frog 2013-01-03T20:25:00

The original Android build did not work on my Galaxy S3, but the latest build does. It does struggle to understand my South African accent, but it occasionally recognizes my words and works correctly. Brilliant concept!

THE PRINCESS IS MINE by emveyh 2012-12-17T23:58:00

Android version works well and is fun. Well done for a good game, and for porting it so quickly.

Bad Ufo by dsoft20 2012-12-20T22:27:00

I tried the Android version on my Galaxy S3. I worked quite well, although I could not figure out how to destroy any vehicles. Good work!
Update: I've just tried the Web version in Google Chrome. Chrome blocks it by default. If you change the 'https' to 'http' then Chrome does not block it. The web version is even better than the Android version. :-)

LD26 — Minimalism

Defense of the corrupted Pixels by YSelf Tool 2013-05-02T19:08:00

This looks to be an interesting concept. I tried the first level, but found it too slow going to be fun, and too easy. Perhaps starting off with smaller levels will make it more fun to get through the first few levels?

After I exited this game the music continued playing for about 30 seconds, and then stopped. So it takes a while for this game to leave the computer's memory.

Interesting concept! :-)

squarespace by berkano 2013-05-03T20:04:00

Looks like quite a deep game. I played it for a few minutes, but got confused about which sprites I needed to shoot, and which I needed to collect.
A manual for your game - nice! :-)

Gods Will Be Watching by Deconstructeam 2013-05-17T22:52:00

Amazing artwork and gameplay mechanic! So much packed into a single scene. Congratulations!

Limbo Dare by Matt Hartley 2013-04-29T22:38:00

A lovely Ludum Dare adaptation of the classic Limbo for PC and PS3! :-)

Loot Run by Spelchan 2013-05-02T18:17:00

An interesting twist on Text-based games, looking like a Roguelike but playing completely differently. I found myself dying a few times because it looks like you can jump high, but you cannot actually just very far (the ASCII characters are much taller than wide).

The text cursor in the bottom right of the text box was slightly distracting, although I bet there is no way to turn that off.

Well done for an innovative interpretation of Minimalism. :-)

Darkness by Liikeaturtle 2013-04-29T22:33:00

It took me a few seconds to work out that I needed to use the WASD keys rather than the mouse or arrow keys. The player character is very dark, almost invisible against the background. I did not hear any sound, although there seems to be a music resource file.
I played this game for a minute, but did not find the light in any of the rooms that I visited.
This prototype holds the promise of a much better game.

Cubey's Confusion Cube by seflopod 2013-05-03T20:19:00

A good disorientating maze. It took me a while to collect enough red, blue and yellow cubes to be told to exit. Nice work. I like the music too.

City Walk by MaxSzlagor 2013-05-15T20:04:00

Interesting idea. I played this in Safari, on an iPad. The sound effects worked the first time, but on subsequent playthroughs there was no sound, even after closing and reopening the browser.
An interesting experience, although the very limited control and lack of interaction make it seem un-game-like, more an experience. Thanks for making this.

HAX by Andrewves 2013-05-03T19:31:00

Nice idea. Dodging the red lines got progressively more difficult. Using right arrow or D to dash didn't seem to have any effect on the game though.

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-04-29T22:46:00

Beautiful, relaxing, philosophical. Nice.

:-)

More than bricks by Mesene 2013-05-02T21:49:00

Nice quick overview of the early days of gaming, when minimalism ruled.

Brave Warrior by My Milked Eek 2013-05-09T17:29:00

I played this on Android. I like the music and sound effects. :-)
The gameplay seemed to be literally hit and miss - often I thought that I had hit a creature, only to die because I hit slightly too early or late.
I like the presence of scoring - it gives a reason to replay, and to try to progress.

Minianimalism! by lorancou 2013-05-15T21:23:00

Brilliant concept - Spore in 72 hours, with working mechanics! Also very funny. :-)

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Dungeon Deadline by Orni 2013-09-06T20:05:00

Lovely graphical style and music. I love the look of the dungeons so much that it is almost disappointing when the level soon ends.

Clockwork Cat by patrickgh3 2013-09-06T19:03:00

Good idea! :-)

Usain Bolt Simulator 2013 by danielcmessias 2013-09-06T19:46:00

Cute collection of mini-game, a bit like WarioWare. I couldn't get pass the chicken nuggets minigame, playing on my laptop with a trackpad. I think I would beat it with a mouse plugged in. :-) Well done.

Hedgehog Wars by voidstar69 2013-08-29T18:08:00

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I also had the idea of limiting the number of blocks to make each level more tactical, but I did not get around to adding this in.

I like the idea of showing where the hedgehogs will be coming from - the player would be able to plan ahead without having to fail the level a few times just to find out what the pattern is to the hedgehogs arriving.

Now I've got motivation to improve this little game! :-)

Hedgehog Wars by voidstar69 2013-09-05T20:53:00

The post-compo version now limits the number of blocks that can be dropped on each level, and shows the number of blocks left that you can drop.

The physics engine seems to not always produce the exact same result, so the solution for the fourth level sometimes works, but sometimes fails.

Thanks for playing it! :-)

Sudden Death by rissatto 2013-09-09T06:26:00

Interesting concept, sort of like WarioWare with a bunch of mini-games. Good work! I like the music.

Cloud Atlas in 60 Seconds by The4thCircle 2013-09-09T06:32:00

An interesting concept. The text was too quick for me to read - it was displayed for about 1 or 1.5 seconds. But after many attempts (50?) I eventually read the text in each situation. I got about 15 situations in before I got bored trying to remember the pattern of situations to act in versus those to leave alone. I think I could only 'win' this game by writing the pattern down on paper, i.e. cheating!
Well done for coming up with a brand new type of game.

10 sec puzzle by vlaaad 2013-09-09T06:47:00

Cool puzzle game. At first I thought it was an action-oriented game to touch the screen as fast as possible to get rid of the red and green blocks, but now I see that this is a tactical game. Nice work!

How works on russian post by mnill 2013-08-27T16:29:00

Excellent use of the theme. I like this game.

Popping Bubbles by Fififox 2013-08-31T20:46:00

The original version did not seem to work on iPad, but the post-compo version works a charm. The multitouch support is great.

Hyper Furball by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2013-09-06T19:39:00

The gameplay of attacking and blocking is quite repetitive, but everything else is absolutely brilliant: the artwork, music, intro, RPG-like upgrade system and psychedelic hyper furball mode! Well done!

Jack of All Trades by sudojess 2013-09-09T06:41:00

Great concept! The first few times I played on Android, I kept trying to swipe the red and blue wires to cut them, which does not work. After a while I figured out that I needed to tap them. The slider is slightly finicky - sometimes I grab it and it slides, other times it does not - you could expand the touch rectangle around it. I usually lost when I needed to key a number into the numpad, because this takes much longer than touching the other components.
Overall a very good, interesting game, and I am impressed that you managed to include cross-platform multiplayer!

Defused! by bugninja 2013-08-27T14:35:00

Interesting idea

LD28 — You Only Get One

Someone's F***ing Hitler by biscuitdough 2014-01-05T18:24:00

Unusual!

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Hot Diggity by DragonXVI 2014-04-29T13:07:00

Wow, such a polished game! Well done, this is great fun!

Cave Survival by CryoGenesis 2014-04-30T06:53:00

That feels really fun! Excellent graphics, lighting and camera zoom.

Deep Blue Surface by jinxly 2014-04-27T07:43:00

I like it! Great pixel art, music and sfx.

punk n roll by grozamorei 2014-04-30T06:35:00

Excellent disco graphics and music! Hope you finish this game soon, it should be a lot of fun to play.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Mirror World by voidstar69 2014-09-04T21:38:00

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

@mrexcessive, I have toned down the background tiles, and added new sound effects, in a post-compo build.

I had some music ready during the compo, but it was too irritating when looped for me to use - having no music was easier on the ears!

The player movement is not perfect, short keystrokes are often missed. I hope to to fix this soon, and smoothly animate the movement too.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Bugs are Hell by jellyislovely 2014-12-15T07:21:00

Very hard! I only survived about a dozen seconds. Does the framerate affect the collision detection?
Interesting ideas in this game, if you add a progression from easy to hard, it could be lots of fun.

Window Of WorkCraft by voidstar69 2014-12-12T21:45:00

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
I got my score up to 786512 XP before I became sloppy and died.
Can you beat my high score? :-)

3Scale by jpmit 2014-12-11T22:34:00

Difficult game, but quite addictive, with that special just-one-more-time quality. Great chiptune music and sfx.

I had no problem reading the text, but when my partner (a non-gamer) played, she thought that the text disappeared too quickly. Perhaps the text should show again after death, for players who miss the text the first time around?

Great game! :-)
